Thieves steal, strip and abandon two chassis in LA. We get lots of stolen impound calls, but this one was quite different. Normally a chassis will be stolen and is recovered, but these two were completely stripped of all lines, tires and rims. To make it better, they were stacked on each other! That tells me the thieves had to have transported them here somehow, which is not an easy task.
My guess is they were driven using tractors here, then with a forklift stripped, then stacked. They must have been fast to not get attention from the cops or neighbors, but as always Pepe's is up to the task. Alex was dispatched in Big Flipper, our 75ton rotator, to lift the chassis in the air. From there, Joe backed up our 3 axle Landoll to transport them back to the yard.
Pretty easy job compared to the heavy rollovers we get, but the weight distribution was a bit tricky as you'll see in the video which forced Alex to re-rig mid lift. Once on the Landoll and secure, they were taken back to our impound lot. Unfortunately, thieves are at the top of their game here in LA and stealing runs rampant everywhere. Cars, semis, trailers, anything with wheels and a lot of things without wheels will get taken if you aren't careful.

Bro a flat bed tow truck with two guys in ski masks tried taking my work van on Christmas at 3 am . These fuckers were wearing vests and were operating like they were working .. fuckers had sent some kids earlier to rip out my transmission and put car in neutral for them . Luckily I caught them both times and did shit to make it hard to take when tow truck showed up. People won’t call cops cuz they think they’re supposed to be there smh

Another awesome professional job and video by Alex. Alex and Joe definitely work good together. Alex has got to be one of the most humble employees at Pepe’s. A absolutely fantastic representative of Pepe’s towing in my opinion. If I owned a company in the LA area I would definitely be looking to hire Alex away. Great commentary durning his videos explaining the who what why where and how. I can’t say enough about his professionalism. On top of all that he never seems to get flustered or over excited by any situation. He takes his time to carefully evaluate everything before jumping into it Great Job Alex and Joe. Alex, saw u (youtube)on a call that involved 6 vehicles,all totaled in a crash from hell. You first lifted a 2019/20 Silverado dark colored 4 door truck off of two vehicles. There were 6 fatalities in that wreck. Some other youtuber was filming the accident. You did an awesome job that nite as you did here, too. Thumbs 👍.

Since the bottom trailer still had axles, my guess is most was stripped somewhere else, then they were towed to the dumpsite where the last wheels were pulled off. Leaving just some of the drums was strange though.

The bottom one will probably be rebuilt since it still has the landing gear and suspension. The top one will most likely be scrapped because a rebuild would exceed the insurance value.

Just out of curiosity why could you have not brought 2 wheels and tires and placed them on the bottom trailer last axle? Even if the air system didn't work you could have caged the brakes and then put a tractor under the front and driven away. Since I don't know all the variables this seems a bit overkill on equipment and manpower. Always enjoy watching what and where you do picks... fascinating! Stay safe!

there many ways to execute a call , we dont know the condition of a particular chassis or what we encounter until we get there nor hold up a police officer inspecting the chassis to see if it road worthy. we have the equipement and manpower to get in and get out fast and efficiently. thanks for watching

We're a tow service, not a tire company. Who just has a "couple" spare tires? LAPD calls in for a tow so we show up to complete it. It's an impound not a fleet repair. And how would you do that with the chassis on top? Now you still need a ton of chain and binders and you can't secure it to itself that way.

I can't really see the worth in eight white painted metal rims. Their usually with those five bolt peices bolts maybe even a innertube inside of the tire. Eight useless rims is what they get out of stealing those chassis. Either these thieves were trying to be too creative or just two stupid. With all the drugs littered on the streets. I would guess the later. The worth in those chassis if you have the paperwork and you modified it to be a super chassis with extra axles and drop axle in the middle. Other than that ports have as many of these chassis as you like to borrow. Stupid see, Stupid do.
