Got the set yesterday.Stunning.I saw them live around that time.1977 Jazz Bilzen in Belgium and 1978 Pinkpop in Holland.These albums where out at that time.Unforgettable good times.

Thanks for letting me know about this set. This looks great. I have everything Thin Lizzy except for the 3CD Vagabonds set like you said you also don't have. I also don't have the first two albums on vinyl. I need to get those someday.

Yes Phil just got mine the other day, and agree about the great remixes, done perfectly gives them a new dimension in sound, only have the BBC in sessions on the remasters from 2012, & on the other great Thin Lizzy at the BBC 6 disc boxset, & some of the outtakes instrumentals also have but all in all great to have all in one great package, neat little one at that, unlike the Vagabonds one less discs but bigger size and the presentation not as good as this one, book is a nice hardback but hard to get out and cds in one case, & yes most extras are also in the BBC box set except for the RTE Radio Eireann Session & disc 3, outtakes demos etc, which can take or leave, only the Radio one concert is good and not not in BBC one. But yes is a 10 /10 for shall and hopefully will do rest of the catalogue inc also for me the amazing Fighting. Another sterling top notch review Sir. 🤟

I've got to own up, I am not as big a fan of Lizzy as some people but this box set looks fantastic. It is what all box sets should be and the price is a steal. Well done all those behind it.

I have the Johnny The Fox remixed vinyl album which sounds superb. Hope Bad Reputation and Renegade (my personal favourite) gets similar treatment sometime in the future. It seems remastering versions are slowly being challenged by remix versions which is fantastic.

I bought the two remix albums on vinyl, both astonishing, can't stop playing them, and that's all I need. The 1976 box set is sold out on Amazon and at HMV.

I have both, the cd bluray is worth it, unlike so many of these, even though the BBC sessions are in the long out of print Thin Lizzy at the BBC, 6 cds 1 dvd box set, if do not have it is good to have inc the Live concert, not a crappy bootleg, sounds really good, as do the Atmos 5.1. If can afford it and if ever see it i would grab it.

This is a great value box, jumped straight on this one when it was announced. Missed out on the Rory set, hoping for a repress, but looking forward to your video on it. Still lot's of the Faces ones around, so will wait for that to come down in price.

Love to look at the concert ticket prices in those days. I saw Lizzy first time as support to BTO ticket price £2.75 ,saw Lynyrd Skynyrd same year support Golden Earring same price incredible memories

The band were never really happy with the original mix. But that's bands for you 🤔 I loved it. I wish Phil L was hear to see it.

Overall I'm happy about the box set. The CD slots are not as tight as on the L&D one, so they're not scratched heavily this time. Nice new remasters for both albums, although personally not too impressed with the remixes. Snare in particular on the new Jailbreak mix sounds so clunky, dry and distracting - Johnny sounds richer, I noticed a few alternate vocal parts, guitar licks and leads but neither translates into substantial sonic improvement to my ears. I'd have preferred another live show, they were considering including a Chicago gig from the same tour actually, but only the Cleveland one made it, and it sounds good enough. Most fascinating content on the box-set are the outtakes. Glad these 2 classics eventually got a proper deluxe treatment, after the cheaply-put together '96 CD and the 2011 double disc which felt lackluster.

Great review Phil! Fantastic box set and really value for money. My only disappointment is that the Cleveland live gig was advertised with a different setlist which included more rarities including 'For those who want to live' and 'Angel from the coast'. Unfortunately, the actual setlist omitted these tracks. Strangely, the booklet does mention the original advertised setlist in the credits section, so I don't know what happened. Notwithstanding this, I still consider this to be the box set of the eyar for me! Hope there are more box sets like this on the way - perhaps a 1980-81 box set (Renegade in Chinatown?) or a 1983 box (which may include a much needed remix of Live/Life). Fingers crossed.

The remixes has a different snare drum sound. 1976 has the best sound. But for TL... it got even better with Tony V.

Glad to hear you rate Fighting highly. Jailbreak and Johnny the Fox are great albums but I’m not sure I can justify buying this new box set having bought the last releases of both. I also bought the three disc Vagabonds at the time but did feel it was overpriced. Enjoyed the unboxing/review. Thank you.

Yup, this is a great one. For me its Thin Lizzy and UFO tied for first place. Except for Jailbreak & Emerald, i didn't hear massive differences on the Jailbreak remix, but maybe you did. Jailbreak, for me, is one of those albums i've heard so much, and actually don't view as their best any longer. Kinda like Machine Head. Ta

Thank God, you can buy the Bluray-audio disc, by itself. Dolby Atmos and 5.1 is the only way to listen to these classic albums.

I did see Thin Lizzy in the new incarnation with Ricky Warwick sorry it didn't work . The saving grace was Diamond Head (with John Sloman supported)❤🤘🤘💯💯

I have the two remixes on vinyl. I have mixed feelings over it. I will have to say Borderline and The Cowboy Song were polished up and improved over the originals. I played those two tracks over and over

I could never get into Thin Lizzy .. How ever Thin Lizzy has produced some great Guitarist like Gary Moore & Snowy White .. I remember hearing back than that "Jailbreak" was influenced by Rory's track "In Your Town"
