Deluxe box sets shouldn't rattle. Great stuff. Reminds me of the Gary Moore Sanctuary Years box set, which gave little value for the price point. Thanks for the honest review.

Brave review Phil. It comes down to not just the price point with this, but the contents that seems to misunderstand the potential audience. To my mind, a boxset should serve to encourage even non fans to appreciate the original work.

It's hard to believe that Dr. Feelgood is 35 years old and while not a real hardcore fan of Motley Crue this was a really good album from them thanks again Phil Merry Christmas.🎶🎶📻🎶🎶

Hi Phil, thanks for the review was seriously considering buying this being a huge Crue fan but I think your bang on with your review it looks a bit shabby tbh and like you say doesn’t have that wow factor unlike other box sets you’ve reviewed throughout the year, I have the original vinyl and quite happy with that, cheers Phil.

agree original album 45 minutes & 2 separate discs very very short on content & i actually went to the live concert in Australia in 1990 & here is the set list Kick Start my heart,Red Hot, Rattlesnake Shakem Too Young to fall in love, Shout at the Devil, Live Wire, Same old situation, Slice of your pie, guitar & drum solo, Looks that kill, Don't go away mad, just go away, Smokin' in the boys room, Without You, Wild Side Girls, girls,girls Home Sweet Home, the title track & Jailhouse rock, it was so good & very very loud

Excellent review Phil. Never ever liked Mötley Crue. Your critique was so true. An interesting question would be a)Did the band have any input to this release, seems not? b) the record company pulling the strings and band don't give a damn ? c)The band still seem to be bitching about this and that and finally are the band trying to top up their pension funds!. Sad state of affairs. Price is ludicrous been thrown together as you say . Lazy effort, the problem is if the record company think that they can get away with it they will release other albums. I know bands are struggling at the moment many reasons but this is a rip off . My comments were all about the product not the music because i don't like the music. Finally Phil as you said look how quickly quality well presented box sets sell out. Think Jethro Tull original box sets sold out. Ian Anderson thought hey let's give people a chance to own etc . Decent prices and Ian having control what was offered etc Take care Jonathan

Hi Phil.Nice review of Motley's Dr.Feelgood.Great album.Great band.Been a fan for 40 years now.Never looked back since i heard Shout 1st time. Love everythilng they have recorded ever.Seen them live 9 times.Met the band 1986 after show Theatre Of Pain tour.I have the tour book signed. I think Theatre Of Pain is a brilliant record. I love your channel and your posts.Especially Hard rock and metal related. Do you still own leather version of Too Fast For Love.How many records you have cds and vinyl? Any clue? Remember buying the original vinyl on a Saturday morning in 89 in Birmingham city centre then going to “Bill’s” the Bierkeller when it was in Needless Alley when it was a rock bar on a Saturday lunchtime. Had a few too many beers and left the vinyl behind never to be seen again. Following week I bought the cassette and kept it in my jacket pocket so I wouldn’t lose it after the beer session again…

Your right Phil the contents are very dissapointing ,I’m a motley fan & I bought this for €150 but the amount of music is very poor compared to my recent purchases ,the Thin Lizzy box sets are a good example of box sets done well ,I expect 5-6 records in a box set for this price or 3 records & 3 cd,s /atmos with lots of demos & full live concerts ! I’m a box set fan too & have bought some on your recommendations -would love to see a vinyl Gary moore box set ! Enjoy your Christmas & looking forward to a best of review .

My only interest in Motley Crue was the fact that Mick Mars has the same kind of arthritis that I do. Also I just saw a fantastic meme that uses big fat Vince Neil as the abominable snowman from Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer.

Yeah it's very disappointing for such a great album,three discs half arsed memorabilia a small poster and basically an enlarged lyric book. Just awful marketing, they brought out a video album for Dr Feelgood that had the five videos they made for the album. It had live concert footage recording session footage and band interviews. That should have been included , where are the rest of the demos even rough mixes things fans love to hear. As you said as well why no full live show, incredibly poor . I imported the Tom Petty Wildflowers boxset from the US a few years ago. With import tax it cost me about £140 . Five discs,hard backed book on the recording of the album song by song discussion. Tour programme,sticker,patch, lithograph some handwritten lyric sheets numbered certificate . Plus you could download all the audio in high resolution on the day of release as well so I had all the music before it arrived. Even if it comes down in price I won't be buying that boxset I have to agree it looks like the band didn't care what went out. Real shame for such a good album. Great content as always Phil.

Yep way overpriced for what you get, for me if we are talking deluxe editions my preferred way of doing it is like the Jethro Tull sets as its compact with a good book, i would much rather have it that way than boxes full of nik naks that i will look at once, the Sabbath/whitesnake boxes are good but they take up far more space than the Tull ones for no reason than to stick a poster in which im never using, by the same token i like large cd only sets like the Rory Gallagher or Elton John ones cos i do like a good large format hardback book if it has lots of good photos etc, back in the 80’s all the cd sets where in the lp sized boxes until long boxes came out, to me this set should of been like the Tull ones, with a full concert and maybe a dvd with a proper book with contributions from the band and priced £50+.

I like Motley Crue but would not consider me being a super fan. And I am not Multi-format; CD only for me. All in all this Box Set looks like a miss. Now, I prefer Box sets in 12 Inch size, with large book and picture size. The King Crimson Box Sets, Who’s Next, Caravan, Billy Bragg, Van Der Graaf Generator… a lot of great sets in my collection. This one won’t, unless i find it for 20 quid.

That 20 minute demos cd is an even bigger waste when you consider there was about 13 minutes of demos on the latest remastered version that they released just a couple of years ago. I'm guessing it's the same stuff so anyone could've had most of those demos for the price of a regular cd instead of laying out for this set.
