I'm sick of the fears. They make sense and make playing more interesting but there's a limit. My Sims have the fear of not leveling up in their career. I have to fix it almost every Sims day, even after they just got promoted

my sims also get the unfulfilled dreams/ wants/ dead end job every. single. day. it’s so annoying! i have a sim with the chef aspiration, is a foodie, loves cooking, but somehow goes to work everyday tense and angry? like at least give us the option to adjust dreams, fears, and wants ourselves for story and our own gameplay purposes. it makes playing the sims so much less enjoyable to play for me having to deal with sims constantly getting that mood debuff, especially when it doesn’t make sense

All of my sims have the same fear of unfulfilled dreams, a dead end job. There are a few exceptions. I've gotten the water one, fire one and being judged all once. But the water one was so easy to fix!! Just make your Sim swim around for an x amount of time

I like fears, but there's 2 or 3 that appear in every Sim and that should be fixed. Always remove the dead end job and the dreams one, but the rest is fine.

Jump ropes or something else to build motor skill that’s not a computer nor a giant piece of playground equipment. Floor puzzle that builds mental skill. Board game that builds social. Skill building toys for toddlers other than the blocks and tablet…

For the autism take I'd agree. As someone with GAD and possible ADHD I think it'd be cool for the game to have some kind of separate panel for neurodiversities, but to just add it as a trait seems very disrespectful and insensitive, especially considering the THREE trait limit

As someone with ADHD, anxiety, depression, and very likely undiagnosed autism, yeah, a separate panel for neurodivergence would be way preferable than making traits for them. Traits like socially awkward are fine, because lots of people are socially awkward! But a trait dedicated to a specific neurodivergence is not the way to do it, because it will be a specific version of said neurodivergence, when in reality they manifest differently in everyone.

Bring back sims 2 plant sims those were fun. Give us sims 3 mermaids or do what they did with vampires, spellcasters and werewolves and give us a skill tree. Aliens too. I would like a world with 5-6 different sections each consisting of of 5-7 lots in each district. Don't mind SP that much if they would give us more men fashion that is actually similar to rl to what men wear.

I 100% agree with the preteen thing. We barely have gameplay for kids and we *just* started getting interesting stuff for teens, why add another life stage instead of building upon what we already have?

Regarding the play testers for bugs: the higher level of bugs in released games is not directly because they employ less play testers, but because they are cutting costs across the board. It’s not p that EA doesn’t know about the bugs in new packs, it’s literally that they consider these bugs acceptable and sellable for the final version of the EP. It’s an issue with the entire corporate structure of game development companies, which inevitably restricts the design process. Game developers will know the actual phrase they use for it, but basically… there is an “acceptable” level of bugs that EA allows to be sold with the game in order to stick to their release timelines. That’s what makes the broken-a** My Wedding Stories even more atrocious.

Also… as a fellow autistic person, do people actually seriously want an “autistic” trait in the game?! Please, just… no. It will make stereotypes about autism 1000x worse, we don’t need another Sia situation 😭 how would they even reduce all the variance in traits and skill sets in autistic people to one trait? It would be so insulting and reductive. No two autistic people have the same exact profile, strengths, limitations, weaknesses, or comorbid disabilities / conditions. Just, NO PLS 😂 the game just needs more traits and aspirations in general. Sims 4 Sims are remarkably undifferentiated.

I think that works, but I think it’s a style that would get offensive fast if you start trying to represent things like autism in game. I have epilepsy, and I sure as hell don’t want a seizure depicted in the sims 4. It’s all a hard no for me.

As someone who also has autism, adhd, and a few other disabilities I also agree that I would not want any of those as traits. Those are indeed part of my life but having it as a trait that takes up one of the three things that differentiate my sim makes me very uncomfortable, just like the vegetarian and lactose intolerant traits. They are just things of life and there's so much more beyond that, I don't want a slot saying that I have a health issue instead of the ability to be creative. But also I would love to see things like little bits and pieces, for example a hyper active trait that your sim just gets randomly energized and will randomly do a task but not just a generalization of something. Agree. It's already hard to make sims with unique personalities since we only have 3 trait slots. I don't consider my disabilities my personality trait in real life, even if it does impact it. And i think things like lactose intolerant shouldn't be a personality trait, there should be a different category for that, like the likes/dislikes category.

While they should add disabilities - maybe have it as an option separate from traits, given the fact that there are different strengths of mental illness (Maybe have it as a selection? Ie. if you turn it on, choose whether you want it to be "strong", "middle" or "weak" - and allow you to choose whether you want it to affect your sim physically (Things like weak muscles, seizures, etc.) or mentally (Autism, ADHD, etc.) or both

Only at the autism bit, but I definitely agree with this, I see a lot of people asking for more realistic gameplay and adding disabilities and mental illnesses, and I personally think they'd do more damage to the community by adding them because everyone's experiences with everything are different. Especially if they add it as a trait and just add a few quirks like you said, it would probably upset loads of people, so Definitely agree with you ♥️

As someone with mental illness and ND I agree, I didn't realise people wanted it but it think it would be way more harmful than good because it would just enforce negative stereotypes, there's no way to incorporate stuff like that with the nuance it needs in a game like this. But I think adding wheelchairs, amputations etc may be good visual representation but I won't speak for people with those conditions if they do want it or not, I just imagine it may help people connect better to see themselves visually.

Your point about the careers is why I love the Politician career from City Living so much. It gets the Sim out of the house! You have to interact with the community just like an irl politician would (or should)!!! I was so surprised when I played for the first time in forever recently and one of my work tasks was to actually give a speech at that podium in the Uptown neighborhood. No one but my Sim’s husband attended the speech but it was still really fun to interact with😂 Also you have to protest at various places like a park or a bar and other sims will see it and start protesting with you??? And you get different moodlets depending on if people join or ignore you? Amazing!

I actually playtested Seasons back in the day long before they announced it, because my uni town had the only EA playtesting site in the UK. It was a really good experience and Seasons wasn't glitch free obviously, but back then they did seem to care a lot more. I still get occasional invites to playtest but it doesn't seem frequent enough for them to be testing all of their new packs out with players, which is a real shame.

For me, Batuu is basically a decor pack. Got some good plants and vases in there. For bugs. Funny bugs are great. I'm used to Bethesda games so I got some resistance built up to bugginess. But when your bug is basically "that new gameplay feature you just bought?! Yh it doesn't work" if a bit of a joke bruh. Also I so badly miss the Sims 3 ghostbusting career. I might go load it right now to do it. That ghosty music was my tune.

I kinda want pets to have a refresh to where we could actually control our animals and it could’ve expanded on more potential pets like birds or say reptiles. Ya know a pet tortoise or aquatic turtle like a red eared slider. Heck a pet parakeet or cockatiel. Also just more interactive ways to play with fish like decorating their tanks and such.

Agree 100% about the idea of an "autism trait" and similar. The Sims 3 had traits that allude to mental disorders/neurodivergence/etc and I think that many of them work well. And Sims 4 has traits like that too. (Like gloomy could be depression, but it doesn't have to be.) But naming a trait after a disorder I think is always going to be offensive no matter how they do it because, yeah, not everyone experiences them the same way.

As a fellow autistic who has been put forward for ADHD assessment recently, I totally agree on the autism trait thing. My partner and I both have autism and there are significant differences between us, we wouldn't both suit the same autism trait! It's been cool to find your videos this year, you're really fun to watch, can't wait to see more in 2023!

i think it would be cool to have another traits tab but for symptoms or something. like rather than putting an adhd trait, you could choose traits like trouble focusing (reduced work/skill gain), trouble sleeping (takes longer to replenish sleep need), interrupting (relationships go up slower), fidgeting (energy drains faster), and unorganized (things get messy faster). that way you can personalize the experience to fit that sim

Honestly, I’m fine with not having cars in the Sims 4 at all. Sims can use magic to teleport or the use the brooms if they’re witches. We have bikes which work better for the closed world in my opinion.

bikes are okay but not cars? Sims 2 did cars fine. It didnt take anything away or seem too much. Just has quick animation of pulling out before fading off. And then theres teaching teens to drive, and driving a car is pretty mundane human thing to do. I dont see how they havent just got added already. Theyd be easy enough to add. And they could also have them needing to get fixed which could bring a mechanics skill. A new woohoo spot lol. I personally think it adds some more depth. And sure, we could survive without it, but i really do see potential, and add normal human everyday thing to a simulation game about life. If witches get their brooms and economic sims can have bikes, theres really no reason not to add cars

Wouldn’t really make much impact on gameplay though. They’d be a cut scene of driving down the road and arriving somewhere. I guess they could make a game pack around driving school but in terms of watching your car drive around the world, it just isn’t happening unless they build a world specially for it. Think it’s just passed now.

I'd like to see more activities for base game. Like Cottage living; ex: favors, side hustles w/ shop owners, handling your farm, preparing for festivals, etc. There is so much to do w/ packs but not a lot of action in the base game. I understand it's their way of income but due to the new free edition of the base game that just released, it could be beneficial.

Semi side note, I am so glad I had middle school instead of primary/elementary to high school. Everyone in that school (grade 6-8) was in their terrible pre-teen phase so it was isolated to that one school and all your most embarrassing dumbest preteen moments were left there when you started high school and got it out of the way

As someone with autism and ADHD 1000% agree. Some of my favorite traits in the sims 3 were ones that alluded to different aspects of disabilities, absent minded, neurotic, inappropriate, socially awkward, excitable, over emotional, no sense of humor, loner. I love them because I can relate them to autism/ADHD but they could also be reflective of OCD, social anxiety, depression etc Would love to see a trait along the lines of "obsessive" where you sim becomes fixated on a certain activity and suffers heavy negative moodlets when they have to come away from it lol

Totally agree with the no new world!! Like if you look at seasons, the gameplay was pretty fleshed out and the cas and build were very good as well. The Sims team could probably do even better then that if they did another pack with no world!

I don’t think we need preteens in the game but I do think we need to see a more drastic difference between teens and adults. Our kids go from looking like children to full blown adults even though they’re only teens.

thank you for your stance on disabilites added to the game - no disability presents the same on each person and it would feel very confining in the sims to add them as disability traits. Instead they could expand on personality like in the sims 2 - add things on a sliding scale: focused to scatterbrained, talkative to mute, a hugger to a no-toucher, etc., and perhaps add body mods under body shapes eventually: missing limbs or a wheelchair seated body - it might make it easier to adjust clothes if its the body shape itself that is coded.

I really like the idea of a pack with no new world, because it also forces the team to make a pack that exists outside of the new world. Seasons is probably the best EP and that's because it affects all of your gameplay in all of your worlds. id like to see more storymode packs like strangerville. im getting so tired of family gameplays, challenges, etc bc its the same everytime lmao. i do like storymode/adventure games in general though. but id like to see new storymode packs that are more fleshed out? if ykwim. make them have more and different outcomes so you can replay it with a completely different ending each time, and more stuff to explore and interact with🤠

Yeah, with the autism stuff same, but also with other disabilities I don't want a trait that says X disability and that's it I always thought the best way disabilities could be implemented is with traits. Like, walks with a cane all the time/some of the time, same with wheelchairs, and a "gets tired easily", "difficulty telling emotions", etc etc, just give us a bunch of traits and that way we can mix and match and say "this sim has X disability" but it would be in our heads, kinda the same way they implemented trans Sims, we don't have a "trans" trait, we can choose the type of frame, if they can get pregnant or not and the set of pronouns

I can see why Middle school seems odd to someone from the uk, but you need to remember that we don't finish secondary or high school at 16 and then go off to do A levels and stuff, we go all the way to 18 in high school and it isn't conducive for most school to add a few more thousand 11-14 year olds into the mix when they need very different environments than 15-18 year olds. Our high school is much closer to UK gcse's or a levels than it is to UK secondary school.

On a serious note, I hope they do something to reinvigorate the game while we wait for sims 5. A simple yet huge change like changing the trait system so it gives sims more personality or making lots able to be residential AND business. If modders can do this, there really is no excuse. I think it'd be nice to have some new playground equipment for kids. Not another jungle bar, but those big things. The pirate ship or the rocket ship. Something like that. I don't know WHAT it would be, but I love watching my kids play with the other kids in the parks on the playground equipment... but we only have two and that's just disappointing 😞 And new toddler's toilets cause we only have, what, two different toilets? That's just sad 😮‍💨

I think it would be great to just have many more varied traits that can allude to/touch on neurodiversity, such as liking routine, having an obsessive personality, being impulsive. But with more traits added I think we would need to have more than 3 per sim, maybe 5 or 6.

I agree with you on the autism but I would love dyslexia in the game, I think it would be really cool for them to have a trait where homework takes longer and learning is harder but for them to be more creative than other sims and things like that, it would be really cool

I have the same opinions about Worlds. I like them but I would trade 5 of them over more gameplay. The reason is probably because gameplay causes a lot of bugs, that's why they limit it.

I agree, I don't need another life stage, but I would really like the teens in my game to look the part, as opposed to the bearded wonders that show up in my game. And bugs... I'm currently fuming from purchasing Moonlight Chic on Stream only to find out that two of the items have been broken since the release of High School Years. Steam refused to refund the dlc because I'd had my game open for more than 2 hours after purchase.

Agree with worlds and expansion packs... Seasons didn't come with a world, but the gameplay feels so freshed out and it EXPANDS the game, I wonder if the team had more budget to focus on gp when they skipped the world. What I mostly hate about worlds coming with EPs is that the gameplay is bound to the world. Your sims want to go and snowboard or ski? You have to go to Mt. Komorebi, because you can't build a ski slope anywhere else. Your sims need to go to school? Copperdale is the only world with a school.

I like journey to battu, but not as a sims pack. I think it would have been better as a spin off series similar to Medieval, but I don't think it was a necessary inclusion to the sims 4 as a whole, however some of the build items and a limited number of cas items (because I like the weird hairstyles) were a welcome inclusion to my game, I find that I use them much more often than I thought I would

I feel like with pre-teens is that there’s such a big jump between children and teens, especially since children in the sims seem no more than 9-ish; and teenagers are at least 16. It just leaves a lot to desire for those who are positioned in that reasonably large gap. Also, as someone who has gone through the school system, there’s a lot of unique quirks that could come with pre-teens: looking at you, *puberty*. Or just make the teen category more encompassing

So, my friend is a QA manager and has been QA testing for years, and I ran some of the sims 4 packs past her. She was so critical of how clearly they were releasing things without either doing tests or fixing the bugs the QA testers were finding. New packs should not being breaking previous packs. (Also, I went to middle school; first, middle, high - in East Anglia)

Someone in the comments of another video mentioned adding asthma with eco living if you make your world smoggy, which I thought was great. Your sim could whip out an inhaler every once in a while. When it comes down to disabilities in the game im so torn Because yes mobility aids would be really cool (canes,wheelchairs,walkers etc) But if they actually added disability traits or something like that I honestly think it would be so easy to mess it up because disability is such a wide thing Every disabled person is different (no matter what disability) So all in all I would love mobility aids and sims that could struggle with stuff would be cool but other stuff could be easily messed up (I am bad at wording stuff)

7:00 the school I attended (in the US) does not have a middle school and just has preschool through 6th grade at the elementary and 7th through 12th at the high school. It's entirely because the school district is really small and the high school has like 150 people

I'd like for vague traits that could allude to things as well. as someone with ADHD, 'distracted' or 'forgetful' could easily work. as for preteens... i think its a bit too late for a new life stage, but then again we *are* getting infants i guess. So *maybe*. While I like the idea of preteens, I think it would probably be better if they could just change teens to look slightly smaller and younger? hard agree about the drawing tables. would be time and effort better spent on like adding childhood games like hide and seek or maybe giving us a treehouse object or two.

middle school in America is three years. We have five years of elementary/primary school, plus an optional kindergarten at the start, and four years of high/secondary school. So it's not that much shorter than the other school stages.

as someone working in the industry, theres not less testers on games at all... Theres more than before actually - they are just not credited like they used to be. Companies outsource a lot more QA and outsourcing is often barely credited (which is sad) . But its there! :)

About the disabilities thing, I think it would be interesting to have diabetes in The Sims, like having moodlets for low and high blood sugar. But honestly, I spend enough time managing my own blood sugar, I kind of just want to escape all that in games.

They think they're doing a thing with them, and they're just not, it's not. - Part of me wishes a Sims/Ikea colab was just a thing that always happens and we've grown to expect, lol. We know we'd get some good "current times" BB pieces out of it! 100% with more traits and MORE TRAIT SPACE!! i agree with the autism/disability opinion. as someone with several physical and mental disabilities, i think having disabilities that allude to disabilities/disorders are better than “disability traits.” like for my POTS i would like a trait similar to how elders get to exhausted after exercise and need to rest (bc that’s what my life is like) also these would be more fleshed out than a generalized “disability” trait. :)))

There’s an annoying bug where your sims are literally unable to light a firework at all (at least inside) so what if I want to purposely light my sims house on fire? They make their way to the firework in question, stand in front of it, T-pose for a split second and stand there. Also on the autism take, as some who is autistic disabilities like autism would be extremely difficult to implement because it’s a spectrum, whereas stuff like blindness, deafness and wheelchairs would be easier to implement.

I’m down for new worlds but I want to actually be able to interact with everything AND have more than one or two lots I can move sims into (without removing sims already living in houses that come with the pack). I’m hating the new world just because of that. 😩 I spend 99% of my time in Newcrest because it’s the only one that really allows you to explore, utilize everything, and have enough lots to create fun gameplay.

i'm american and went to middle school, and i think it's a good idea. kids aged 11-13 are at a pretty transitional stage in their lives, and i think they're both a little too old to be lumped in with 5-10 year olds and too young to be lumped in with 15-18 year olds. academically, middle school also helps bridge the gap between the expectations of elementary and high school which could otherwise be pretty jarring

@@chloebutler8438 i can understand where you're coming from and I'll have to politely disagree for a couple of reasons in my own experience. The older grades from 6-8 were treated differently and had their own wing in my school. We also in the older grades were tasked with being the younger grades reading buddies. :) So in grade 6 you got a reading buddy and you had that same reading buddy until grade 8. It was a great way to have the older kids interact and help the younger kids, get them involved with each other, and such. Plus spirit weeks and christmas plays being integral to bringing all the grades together. Watching kindergarten age kids dress up was the CUTEST thing at ages 10-12 for me. Also, everyone I talk to personally who grew up in other Canadian provinces HATED everything about middle school, and I wholeheartedly thought my school experience was pretty good even having gone to 3 different high schools for varying reasons. Maybe it's as simple as Canadian and American school systems being different in many ways. And that's okay. I'll just agree to disagree based on my own personal experience, as well as yours.

This is the silliest thing, but I wanna see more loose curly hair. They've been adding more natural hair which is great, but a lot of them are protective styles or 4c-esque hair. The few looser curl hairstyles there are, aren't great. I'd also like the traits to be more balanced. Some are basically only positive, some are only going to make your life harder. I want there to be more of a tradeoff. There's hardly a downside to giving your sim something like bookworm or geek, yet high maintenance killed my sim (partially because it's supper buggy). Or maybe a positive/negative choice, like you get this perk and then this downside. But yeah no I agree with the entire list lol

I’m physically disabled and EA has talked about this and said they want this to be an escape from life and not too heavy 😞 so they won’t be adding anything like disabilities or wheelchairs. It’s cus they think being disabled is sad when it’s just a neutral thing. Would love to see a wheelchair or cane, but it’ll never happen unmodded :/

For me I would like physical disability representation. Even if its elders and others with issues using walking sticks and the ability to put my sim in a wheelchair and make their home how my home is with adaptations. I agree that it is a completely complex issue to approach which is probably why its not been included yet. I myself was not in a wheelchair for years and used a stick occasionally but could not really walk. However, I feel that the sims is a leader in gender/sexuality inclusion that the option to include generalised visible disabilities could be a step towards representation in games. I can't speak greatly for invisible disabilities but I agree that trait development could be a good way to offer these inclusive options.

I would give so much for base game prostethic limbs options, even if they would be just cosmetic and explained as high sim tech it would be so much better than not having anything, or lazy eye options, also can't stop thinking about virtiligo option working like the custom fur option where you can draw in the pattern yourself or choose a premade those would be pretty simple to implement and honeslty should have been in the game years ago

I grew up with undiagnosed autism and other disabilities, it wasn't until I was 19 I was actually tested for it. Long story short I'm just under the threshold of a diagnosis, basically they admitted I had it as a child but lost some of the traits as I got older. I was in special education the entire time I was in school, I don't remember ever really being told why I was being pulled out of class and because it had always happened I rarely questioned it. I was completely unaware the troubles I was having were NOT normal (unrelated to poor vision), I spent years thinking the visual "disturbances" were because of poor vision not it possibly being dyslexia. While I did get help for a lot of my difficulties I never knew why I was even having them, like why my reading comprehension was ass, why my hand-eye coordination was nonexistent or why I sucked at basic math but did well in higher level math.... The reason why even with my mental illnesses I go for a diagnosis is because as I child I never received an answer to my problems, I spent all my life not realizing how much I could possibly be struggling. I'm noticing more and more that I'm frequently misreading things, I can't explain why I frequently clock in/out of work wrong or why I don't see something that's clearly showing up on the scanner.

As someone with schizoaffective disorder bipolar type, I sometimes have a hard time with the “erratic” trait. I’ve brought it up in different places before, but the straight jacket, and the quirky talking to self and the “mood swings”. It is a very watered down and sometimes hurtful representation of my illness and illnesses like it. I don’t begrudge people who identify with it, and people who like it. But sometimes I will use MCCC to remove it from my game or I will cas.fulleditmode it away because I don’t want to deal with it. Also when I’ve played sims with this trait they aren’t even erratic, they are boring. Which complicates my feelings even more.
