You mentioned in one of your videos that you were thinking about changing the risers. I ordered a pair of Phatrisers II from Scootworks five weeks ago and I have yet to receive them. Do you still have your Nomad and did you change the risers out? If you did, I would like to buy them if you still have them.

I have had a 2006 Nomad 1600 for a couple of years now. I found that what worked best for me was to get a new replacement windshield from Bailey and install it (so it was a new clean, unscratched unit) and then run it all the way at the top. I am looking through it much of the time, which takes some getting used to, but I get less air buffeting my head that way. The other best mod was a Mustang seat with a removable, adjustable back rest. I have some lower back issues and probably couldn't ride much with the stock seat, but the Mustang with back rest is great. These seats cost a LOT, but I bought my bike used with it already installed, luckily. I agree that it is a big heavy bike around town, but I really like using mine to get out of town and then all that becomes a big plus. With the addition of a throttle lock I find that my bike does everything I could want from a cruiser. After about 2012 they added electronic cruise control, which would be even better.

+deano186186 I agree. This bike is amazing on a nice stretch of road where it can open its legs. I to added a throttle lock which helps a lot. It is for sure a bike designed to eat huge miles of road up.

Why did you buy the bike then????? I LOVE CHROME!!!!!!! You don't make sense to buy something you don't like.......Why not paint all your chrome with Krylon flat black......you prefer small grips because you have girly sissy hands......

I did this video to let people knows as much as I love the bike they are things we or anyone else might not like. I did a video to this check it out it's called what I love about my nomad. Appreciate the reviews. I do own the Vulcan Drifter and Fast Idle is temperature related on the intake side and sensed between the cylinders really. The choke is a fuel manger like normal but hardly needed when water is a liquid. Enjoy the automation but it does ref a faster idle then one possibly wants and the large drop in revelations from high to lowest means that the engine can stall when you are maneuvering at that point. The fuel injection and air volume metering ensure riding is the same experience on high mountains as it is at sea level. I have never heard it cough or felt any hesitation. The afterburner is state of the art. I did notice on the fuel injected Vulcan, one can not run the gas until completely empty. Perhaps this model also, is having the fuel pump built inside the tank. Generally out of the way but you can get it on the surface. Mine has a floater gauge because it is supposed to be old looking/luxury built. One doesn't need the key to get informed. When empty it knocks. That will be the third and final warning. So that makes good reasons for the over-enthousiast indicator light. The general advice is: do the math about millage only ones and reset the trip counter. Still I would not welcome condensed water in the tank because of atmospheric breathing. I am quite used filling her up after the ride. You definitely have no worries choosing the right handlebars.

I love my nomad. The best part of being a motorcycle enthusiast, other than riding if course, is customizing a bike fit you the way you like it. Very rarely will you purchased ANYTHING used and it is exactly what you want. I have an 05 1600 pretty customized. Find what you like, spend the time to research during the winter, customize and fit, then ride all season long. P.s. you will get use to the weight, the vlx600 is small but if you say on it again, you would believe it was a toy. Believe me, I went from a Yamaha fzr400 track bike to my nomad. I did a walkaround on mine before I put it up this year, you should check it out. Ride safe

This is a nice bike man, looks solid and looks great. One thing i don't like about your bike is the bars. I love drag bars and that's it haha Before i bought my Yamaha Stryker i was considering buying a Vulcan Custom 900 and i didn't because of the power and i didn't really like the back end on it. I love my Stryker tho its perfect and i just ordered cobra dragster pipes for it with a fuel module and i cannot wait till i get those on. Ride Safe

One thing I will warn you to keep and eye on is the front bevel gear drive.The bearings went out at 35,000 miles and fortunately I caught it before any damage to the front ring and pinion gears. Occasionally push your bike in neutral with the engine off in neutral and listen for any unusual noises. Very, very expensive repair if you have to replace more than the bearings.

I have never loved the tank mounted speedometer. I wish there was a way to convert To a more traditional gauge set up on handlebar.

Greetings, just bought a 2006 Nomad used and I am straight armed to the grips. Unacceptable, so I have Scootworks Phat 2 risers on the way. The way the bike is now I can't even use a backrest because I have to lean slightly forward. Not good for long distance touring. Anyway, thanks for the vids, hope you enjoy your riding

Absinthe2401 I enjoy her very much, I actually have a set of Scootworks Phat 2 on my bike now, but its pulled back way too far for me. This bike is one of the most comfortable bikes I've ever ridden.

Nice video, even if you love your bike you notice and pick out things about the bike that could have been better. Like my Vulcan 2000, cable clutch not hydraulic, the stock bars are very skinny and make it look weird for such a big bike. Would preferred 1/25" bars.

my 1600 classic vulcan has floorboards, heel toe shifter, and windscreen all standard stock bro pretty much the only difference is the hard bags

I bought a 2nd hand Nomad 1600 in the 1990s. The Electric start missed a couple of times on test drive, but I bought it anyway. Oh dear.. I didn't know that the starter on that year had a nylon cog, and this miss start was cog teeth stripping on fire up. Not too long into my ownership it stripped completely on start-up at a petrol station, the nylon teeth went through the oil filter and into the engine. This resulted in the need for a complete rebuild! Kawasaki told my local friendly dealer they didn't accept responsibility, but as a gesture, they contributed to the costs. The replacement starter motor came with a metal cog. That's what I really didn't like about my Nomad!

I had the same issue with the stock bars. Tight turns would lock my elbows in my ribs, and be really uncomfortable. I put stock risers with 16" apes, amazing comfort now. LOL the weight. A cruiser is gonna be heavy as hell, you ain't riding a 700 shadow no mo! that 1600 is a big beast. The air issue you are having is from no lower deflectors.

Nice. With the 16 inch apes did you have to buy longer throttle cables and such or was there enough slack? I love the look of apes and have thought of swapping to them for a long time.

I bought longer cables. From stock to 16" is about an 8" difference so i went with +8 cables. You could honestly go with +6, as i have a little bit too much slack. There was enough slack in the electrical lines that i didn't have to splice any of them, they could stretch up to the 16" apes

I have a Kawasaki 1500 mean streak that I love to ride after 30 years or more I got back in to riding I got such a good deal on a 2003 Kawasaki mean streak would ony 1000 miles on it I had to get it so far I put 7000 miles on it in 2 summers I could only ride on weekends and live in and the northeast the weather doesn't really cooperate from November to March be safe and keep the rubber down

Lots of people talk about handlebar risers. Instead think about a set of HD Heritage handlebars.

I've ran heritage bars on both a Nomad and a Road King. They simply fit the rider better. Bonus point: You don't have to change any cables or hydraulic lines.

You need to customize it looks like a old man bike lol mine is literally fairing suspension cobra exhaust smoke and cammed with custom fuel injectors my favorite

Not sure what you were expecting when you bought a 2007 1600 cc cruiser. It is going to be a big, heaving, relatively slow-steering bike. If you wanted a lighter, quicker-steering bike, you should be looking elsewhere - which is why I stopped riding cruisers. I went from a Vulcan 750 to a W650 to a Ninja 500 to a Ninja 650R to a Vulcan 750. I could not accept the decrease in performance going back from those low-end sport bikes to a cruiser. Also, scraping floor boards is like nails on a chalk board to me. I have also ridden bigger Vulcans, but never owned one. That being said, I ride with cruiser owners. I'm the only sport bike in the group. Some of those I ride with can thrash those cruisers, including Vulcans like yours, through twisty roads like there was nothing to it. It always amazes me. I guess it is a matter or training and saddle time on one's bike of choice.

ReggiewithTwoGs...that's correct! If I top off I only get about 100 miles flat out riding. it's less than that in traffic. I was told it's because the bike has after market pipes and burns more gas. Ex: I live in Chicago. It's only 55 miles to Kenosha from my home. When i get to Kenosha I'm sitting on almost quarter tank..any answers!

+Kelven Dyson I would suspect that what you stated about the aftermarket pipes that if the jets were changed (carbed) or fuel mapping were changed (Fuel Injected) it would burn more few. My bike is completely stock. Also do you have an aftermarket air filter?

ReggiewithTwoGs...I believe it has standard air filter. But I was also told something with the power commander needs to changed in such a way that it burns less but I would lose HP?? Does that make any sense??

+Kelven Dyson it does. Bikes come from the factory with pretty lean settings on the Fueling to help past EPA and Euro standards. So if you did have a power commander hooked up with would increase the HP by probably increasing the amount of fuel is pumped to give your bike more power. It's a trade off but I would think it would be worth for the extra power.

+Monica Pinard you don't get it, the risers on his bike are AFTERMARKET. meaning they were added by the previous owner because his arms were too short. that's like me buying a used car the previous owner painted pink and then complain because its pink. but in this case it's a five minute fix and 5$.

@@ReggiewithTwoGs it changes the angle of your wrist and aligns it with your forearm while holding the grips. Sounds funny and feels funny at first but after a few rides it’s natural and you may find your arms less fatigued.

Dude? Are you serious? You learned how to handle a heavier bike at slow speeds. That is called a learning curve. If you take off your windshield you will regret it. If you had any experience riding at other than sea level you would learn to appreciate fuel injection. Do you have a trip meter? Figure mileage isn't difficult.
