I ride the kawasaki meanstreak 1600. And I love it, it's basically the nomad striped down to the bare minimum, and a few sportier parts tossed in. It's a blast.

Giantmidgetmoto I wonder how much quicker yours is than mine. Maybe a bit more nimble to boot at low speeds perhaps?
@Giantmidgetmotochannel

Probably not much quicker straight run since they are the same engine, but the meanie is lighter, and has the front end off the z1000 I think, it's got the big inverted shocks and air/dampening rear shocks. And foot pegs, so in the twisties it might have a slight edge.

You can greatly improve your low speed stability with the application of a little rear brake. Combined with a little clutch work you wont have any trouble with parking lots or U-Turns. Just find an empty parking lot to practice in and you will pick it up in no time. The only maintenance you are likely to encounter with your fuel injection is cleaning the throttle body. Easy peasy...lots of KZbin videos on the subject. You have a nice bike. I hope that you enjoy it for a long time to come. Ride safe.

servicarrider Thanks. Since I posted that video I've gotten a lot better at low speed stability by following the steps you've outline here. Once again thanks for the comment its greatly appreciated.

Nice Video Reggie, beautiful bike mate, I was after the 1700cc Vulcan for ages and then I test rode in and the bars wouldn't even fit down the side of my house, I'm the same I like the weight for the stability, mine weighs in at 300kg dry before all the panniers and quick release sissybar & rack etc, they get good fuel economy considering the weight, RSMF.

Skeggy Cruiser Yeah the fuel economy is surprising seeing as how heavy it is. Thanks for the feedback.

Always good to love your wheels. I know what it's like having big feet on a bike and I also have discovered the value of having a wind screen. Fuel injection... oh yeah. Really cool video, dude.

There's no rear dual brakes because there's the drive train ... (drive-chain/belt or drive-shaft). There's no place for it... Unless they switch to a custom 'sprotor' which includes drive gear sprocket and a wedged brake caliper. But I've never seen a factory bike with dual rear brakes. I think what you may want to consider (for your next bike) is a linked dual-brake setup. Some bikes now come with a front/rear brake combiner. (google BMW for linked-braking). This applies both the front and rear brakes at the same time.

I've heard of bikes having linked brakes. Like the never Honda VFRs and such. I've never heard of this Sprotor system I will have to google it to see what it looks like.

+ReggiewithTwoGs Here's a google link to some photos of what it looks like. I was thinking about building a small harley bobber using the setup. www.google.com/search?q=sprotor&espv=2&biw=1218&bih=715&site=webhp&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0CAgQ_AUoA2oVChMIhdDMyZqayQIVhFw-Ch3-QQIp

Those are very interesting. I guess you use them to have clean lines on the bike and all. What happens with cleaning the chain though and greasing it wouldn't it cause problems with the brakes?

Put stock risers back on it. Windscreen doesn't look like it is factory. Took of windscreen should be straight across and at nose level so you can see just slightly above it. Kuyakyn ISO grips are the best for comfort. Stock thin grips get uncomfortable after a long ride. Also never heard of a fast idle adjustment on a fuel inject fuel system. At least I haven't seen one. Weight? From a 600 to a 1600. Learn to get use to it to where you can handle the bike. Take of at low speeds, parking lot speed. Learn to use the clutch in the friction zone with a little lite rear brake.

+Michael Spock all good advice here. I recently had an accident with the bike and went to put stock risers on. But once I adjusted the angle of the bars I realized that whoever had the bike before I purchased it had the bars to low for me. Now they are very comfortable where they are. As for the grips I have learned to live with them and having a second bike I realized how much better they Kuyakyn ISO are for comfort. The windscreen on the bike is the stock one to my knowledge and I have figured out since making this video how to adjust it properly. Thanks for all the advice and taking the time to watch my video. I love this bike and have gotten so use to it. I would recommend this bike to anyone who wants a bigger bikes that's comfortable and easy to ride(with practice)

I am more comfortable with my elbow slightly bent and relaxed. This way I will not have a stiff neck and shoulders. Also, keeping the arms slightly bent gives me more control while using the counter steering method thru turns and curves.

+Michael Spock having my arms slightly bent makes my control through corners and slow speed woobly. But I do have to say it does make long rides more comfortable. Guess we can't have it all.

how long did it take you to get used to floorboards?
@ReggiewithTwoGs
@ReggiewithTwoGs 9 жыл бұрын
Wolf and Crow ***** It took about a day to get use both floorboards and heel to toe shifter. The problem I realized I had with the swap to floorboards was how I would lean my weight to help with U-Turns when I had pegs. The Heel to Toe shifter problem was I would forget how to use it, so the first day I would use it like a regular shifter seeing as the heel is set up like a normal shifter. But now that I got both I love them, could I live without them, certainly, are they now deal breakers for future bikes, heck no.
