One of the reasons to upgrade to a Nomad, is because it's a badass looking bike! :)

I got out of the motorcycle scene for a few years , bought a Shadow 750 spirit ( first cruiser) and felt it was time after 3 years to upgrade , bought an 08 Nomad 1600 , great comfy bike .

Cool man. Seems a lot of beginner cruiser guys start on Shadows they are great bikes. That's one thing the Nomad has in spades comfort.

When I returned to riding in 2016, began on a Vulcan 900 classic. Have since gone to Concourse 14> Z900 RS Cafe> Versys 1000> BMW R1250GSA. In addition a KLR 650 & KLX300 that I've since sold. Bikes are like guns, use n carry it for a while then trade up to something that better suits your performance requirements. Probably keep the GSA but looking at maybe adding a Nomad to the garage.

Back in the day, I owned a 2001 Nomad 1500. Sold it and then Bought another Bike a couple yrs. later . ... and I am the Proud owner of a 2006 Nomad 1600. Long term ... much better than a Harley. Considering my Nephew just Bought a 2020Road Glide for 30k. And I spent 2500. On my Nomad.

I have a Vulcan 1600 and I can't find anything better about it than Harley. Only the fact I paid 3000 dollars for it. I've had 2 Harleys for 20 years and never a problem from them. I just didn't want to spend much this time so I bought the vulcan 1600 for 3k. It's a great bike in every way ...but better??? It just feels like a cheap road king . Great for us who want to spend less . As far as performance it's virtually the same

I've had Vulcan 800, 900, 1500 Classics, and the Nomad 1600 I ride now. I LOVE them! I ride with guys that have Ducatis and BMW's, but they can't shake me! I have a Cobra Fi2000 Power Pro tuner with Vance + Hines high performance pipes, and this Nomad is a rocketship! Reggie, you picked a winner with the Nomad! Go take a look at my recent "Run Like Hell" video!

115,000 miles on my 98 Vulcan 1500A (4 speed) and my wife says "why don't you get a newer bike?" O.o Why Yes dear... you are absolutely right Dear. Sold the 1500 and bought an 07 Nomad 1600. 80,000 miles on that one now. Both bikes are very comfortable. Did an Iron Butt Ride on the 1500. Routinely do 3 day rides through West Virginia on the 1600. Sometimes I get disappointed looks when a new person in the group realizes a "cruiser" will be "slowing down the group". By lunch the first day they have a new understanding of how well the Big Kaw can handle corners with a properly adjusted suspension. I added a couple cosmetic shiny bits to the top of the bags to protect them as well as a matching pattern luggage rack. The functional upgrades include a driver backrest and a crossover airline between the shocks to make 1 convenient fill point for both air shocks.

I started out with a sentimental bike. This guy was like a second dad to me and got cancer. Well he bought a bike but soon found out he was getting to weak to ride. Well he passed and this bike sat in a shed for about 10 years. A buddy bought it and I bought it from him. My first was a 2000 Kawasaki Vulcan 500. Then about a year later a 2005 Suzuki boulevard s83 1400 fell into my lap. Wayyyy different than the 500. Well the boulevard has been going downhill so I went to the dealership today... another year later and now own a 2008 Kawasaki Vulcan nomad 1600.

The alternative to upgrade is to get a decent sized shed and just buy more motorcycles of different styles. I have a 2005 Nomad 1600cc bagger. I love it and wont part with it. But I might also buy a V92 Victory. Also I need a 250cc dirt bike as a trainer for my son to learn on. My in-law has a H-D Fat Boy 4sale at $7000. Time will tell, the skys the limit.......

I actually bought a 2003 Yamaha Roadstar 1600 for my first bike and absolutely love it the only way I would go from here is either a newer Roadstar or a Nomad unless I run across a Vulcan 2000 or m109 with the right price tag on it

I think bikes are like gloves. You have to find the one that fits. I gave a buddy a 05 vulcan with 28,000 miles on it and regretted it after. I Got me a 2012 voyager and as much as i like the bike, it isn't the same. So i bought a 08 Nomad. I just got it and will need to upgrade the seat. I think i'll be happy with this one. So now i have a goldwing, voyager, roadstar and Nomad all in my garage. The other 3 need to go. And on a side note, Bigger is not always better. Ride what fits you.

I went from my R1 to my V-Star so that my wife could come along. I was non typical though because I got my R1 when I turned 56 as a divorce present to myself. Always wanted one. Over that now and I guess some would say I'm riding my age now. Thanks.

I saw the picture of your R1 you posted on one of your videos that was a nice bike. But as you said you upgraded so your wife could come along which beats out a cool looking bike any day.

you do exactly what I do talk to yourself on the video "cut that out" "edit that out" lol I dont know why but I have always mastered motorcycles and have never had any fear whatsoever I honestly wish I would have started on my last bike the 2013 zx14r se and got it out of my system before getting a cruiser I unfortunately thought starting on a 250 would be best and in the process bought 7 motorcycles. If it werent for having a wife and kid that like to ride I probably would still have the ninja ride safe brother
@ReggiewithTwoGs
@ReggiewithTwoGs 9 жыл бұрын
I always talk to myself. But I guess as long as I don't reply I'm good. Starting on a zx14 eh? I think weight is more of a fear factor as a new rider than power(at least for those who respect it)

Upgrade....what a decision. Like you, I am not brand loyal. I currently ride a 2007 Honda VTX 1300r, prior to that I had a 2005 Ducati Supersport 1000ds (what an odd change, huh?). So I had the sportbike, had some fun and even too it to track days at Summit Point in West Virginia. I'm happy with the VYX, but still, I have a yearning for a sportbike. I gave it up because my rides were getting longer and hence, more uncomfortable (not fun for the wife on the back either). So, I am ready for a change, not an upgrade. I want a BMW R1200gs for my next bike, but I'd also like a big touring bike, Goldwing, BMW, and.....hahaha yeah another bike...maybe something that goes....BRAAAPPP..haha. I want ALL THE BIKES!

A Brapmachina would be cool. Maybe it's because I'm new and haven't ridden every style of bike but I would love to own one of every style of bike.

That happened, and we let it happen. Hahaha. Nice. I'm looking to move up myself. I have an 05 Shadow 750 and I'm wanting something bigger for the same reason. my wife likes to ride and this bike just doesn't cut it. I'm looking at an 04 road king, but might just go with the VTX 1300 or 1800. Depends. I like the Valkyrie as well.

Sorry, couldn't help myself there. You can't go wrong with any of those bikes. Though I would recommend a Nomad you get a lot of stuff standard for the price. (Not to mention I ride one so...)

I feel I am ready to move on from my 02 shadow 750 ACE. I ride with some people and I am the last one always playing catchup. The shadow is an awesome bike tho. Looking at nomad 1600 for my next cruiser.

Can't go wrong with the nomad man, it's good value for money. I started on a shadow vlx 600 so I know the feeling of playing catchup. The nomad has the legs to keep up with the bigger twins. Plus the nomad eats the miles up so easily and come with bags and a windshield standard.

I am curious, why don't you consider your Vulcan a daily rider? I would suggest that it is a daily rider that you can go on a three flags tour. Upgrade? I started out with a 1948 Harley WLH Army Surplus. It had zero miles on it in 1966 when I bought it. Then I had a '41 Flathead 80. Then I had a Shovelhead. Then I had a Yamaha XS1100, Then I had 3 1960's Triumphs. Then I had a Sportster Cafe Racer. Then I had a Kawasaki KLR 650 (still have one) My next ride will be a Vulcan Nomad. Either one like yours or a 1700. I am going to be 69 in May and have the need to get the wind in my face. Kawasaki big twins are "the bomb" in my opinion. After wrenching on Harleys for a couple decades I will never own another one. They were the best at one time but motorcycle technology passed them by while they were living on their laurels. Peace.

I've heard a lot of good things about the nomad. My wife has no desire to ride with me, so a cruiser that big just wouldn't be practical for me.

She's a bit of a control freak so taking risks (like riding motorcycles or trying new foods) doesn't appeal to her at all.

So the right time for changing of bike is when your wife tell you so and give you permission to buy another bike... 100%accurate, if you want to be in a long relationship lol

I noticed the risers on your bike. I bought a 1600 Classic a couple of months ago and I have to lean forward a little while I ride it because I'm 5' 6" which means I have shorter than average arms. What kind of risers are those? Do they bump into the chrome on top of the tank?
@ReggiewithTwoGs
@ReggiewithTwoGs 6 жыл бұрын
I believe they are Scootworks risers. www.scootworks.com/shop.cgi/page=partskawhandle.htm/SID=PUT_SID_HERE I'm not 100 percent sure but they look almost identical to these they are really good quality and do not hit any of the chrome on top of the tank.
