You're complaining about things breaking on a 30 y.o car. Bro, sell it and buy yourself a new altima or something.

Hey Mateo, thanks for a cool shoot out and info. If you will ever need to replace rear brake pads on your 90 again, get them from any local auto parts store for Toyota Avalon 1996. Rotors will not fit cause the inner diameter for ebrake pads is a bit smaller, can be machined probably if you have someone to do so. Avalon pads works only for JZX90 Tourer V. The trick is not gonna work on GX’s and x100. I’m in US, but originally from Russia. I’ve been driving these Marks and Chasers from early 2000x. Hit me up if I can advise you on anything and keep JDM🇯🇵💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻

Thank you for the info on the brakes! I've only been around these cars since 2020, so I still have a lot to learn haha.

You right you right. But then I couldn’t have made this KZbin video complaining… lolol. It’s something minor but you’d be surprised the people who buy these cars and are shocked when they can’t find replacement parts stateside

Why buy that specific intake? Silicon piping and air filters are cheap, just fab your own intake, or TF also sells a $200 intake if you want to buy one. Also XAT Racing has rear conversion kits for LS460 or MkIV Supra brakes depending on wheel size. I would absolutely convert the brakes to something that was sold here, because I view that as a one time cost/upgrade. What else is expensive?

I appreciate these videos because I want a jzx90 in the future so this puts everything into a realistic perspective before I buy. Thank you sir

I really feel the expensive parts thing it definitely hurts the wallet when stuff goes bad or breaks on my jzx90 too I’m thinking of doing the drift motion upgraded twin turbos cause I don’t wanna spend the money on a single turbo kit nor do I care to make much more power than I already have

Right, I don’t mind paying prices for a good product but sometimes you feel like you are being taken advantage of because of having no options. Oh well, can’t win them all. But That’s a good option especially if you don’t ever plan to make a lot of power or go crazy with the 1J platform. Thank you for the comment!

I have had mine for a little over a year. I did the brakes (which fortunately wasn't as much of a wait for rear rotors as you had), fixed some cosmetic flaws, and a driver's door lock actuator. Honestly I am having a little trouble bonding with it. Its fun to drive, but I feel like I bought into something that is a little overhyped.

I actually forgot to mention the door lock actuators. My passenger one is bad so every time I drive I need to reach out and manually lock it. And I can totally understand some people feeling they are overhyped. Whenever I just drive it around town, I’ve lost the feeling of “wow jdm car so rare here” but whenever I go drifting in it, it reminds me how good of a car it actually is. I appreciate the comment tho. Thank you for watching!

@MateoM That is an interesting point. I just use my car like normal transportation. I don't drift or track it, so maybe I am not enjoying it to its fullest. I did take it on an all JDM cruise on the Blue Ridge Parkway last fall. That was probably the most fun I have ever had in it. I also agree, the whole novelty of RHD fades quickly. It's cool to talk to some people about it, but it has become really common at car events, although mine is the only JZX90 Chaser I have ever seen in person. X100 cars seem way more common where I am as I have seen a handful.

As a daily driver, it will get old for sure. But driving it on a track or hitting a street spot, it reminds me why I like so much in old videos and seeing it drifting. But Definitely agree with you. For x90s it’s the mark II that’s most popular, and for x100 the chasers. I feel like these cars have reached almost R32-R34 levels of fame now within the car community. You pull up to a meet, people will at least know it’s a JZX. I still die on the inside when someone shouts “sick chaser” haha. Which is probably the equivalent of R32 GTST owners having their car called a GTR no matter what lmao.

from your outro you mentioned you want to swap in a 1jz vvti. if you are going to engine swap, why not put in a 2jz from an aristo for example?
@MateoM
@MateoM 7 ай бұрын
I solely want a 1JZ vvti for the sound and noise it makes, nothing else lol. I know the 2JZ is a better engine and can make more power but that doesn’t interest me. Also the vvti comes single turbo stock which really simplifies things.

@@MateoM how can you put a x100 engine in an x90 chassis? Would you need a link ecu for an x100 and then figure out the pins that are different coming from the x90 harness?
@MateoM
@MateoM 7 ай бұрын
The engine will fit exactly where it needs to be so no new mounts or anything. It’s just wiring changes. People in Japan and a few JZX90s here have a vvtis in their 90s running stock ECU. One route I’ve heard but have not done myself is to get if you have a jzx110 1jz, a harness from JZS171 crown, 2j vvti ecu, and find a different plug for the maf wire and it was good to go. I’m sure there’s much more involved but that’s the basic idea. Depending how complex this gets, it may be easier/more time efficient to just get a new engine harness made from scratch from panic wiring and run a standalone and call it good.

Pricing expensive? Errr, what?!!
@MateoM
@MateoM 7 ай бұрын
What I meant by Pricing expensive is it’s a big price step up from what others may be used too. Going on Amazon/ebay and getting a front lip for $50-$100, to having to get a body kit shipped from Japan for $2500 is big difference. Not only body pieces but specific items as well. Some parts exist in the US but not everything. Thank you for watching!
