I have recently upgraded my music system to a streaming system: Roon Nucleus, Sonore Ultra Rendu, Mytek Brooklyn Dac + and and Uptone power supply. At 67 and computer illiterate I doubt I would have had the courage or knowledge to proceed without your book or videos . Thank you for your knowledge and patience. I am addicted to classical and jazz and I enjoy the music even more.

I love your stuff, Hans! You are right on with all that you say here! Power supply, jitter/timing, reconstruction filter, all that! 🏆

Thank you for the honest information of you personal experience with all that gear. To start with good powersupplys is allways a clever idea and is also my experience over time.

I also have come to see how power supplies Jitter and timing have a really big influence on Sound quality Keep up the good work

The biggest challenge is to make a good reconstruction filter for DA conversion and prevent the PSU to interfere. Especially dither technologies still have a long way to go.

I actually still use a Logitech Transporter over BNC and several Touchs as my everyday multiroom system. I don't use any streaming services, only music from my own dedicated server running LMS and internet radio. Still perfectly happy with it.

Same here... LMS running on a Vortexbox, one Squeezebox Boom in the kitchen, one Touch in the livingroom... a simple and awesome multiroom system!

Hi Hans. As always, your videos are packed with great information. However, I think you glossed over the server currently in use. Are you back with the Mac Mini + external hard drives? I think there are two other critical aspects of digital audio which are seldom discussed. First is library management to which I would include meta data. The second critical component is the graphical user interface (GUI). Both of these elements contribute enormously to the enjoyment and usability of digital media. Towards that end, you previously delivered a very positive review of the Cocktail Audio X45. Thus, I was a little surprised that this was not part of the discussion. As for me, I currently store music and movies (organized with JRiver) on an 8tb hard drive connected to an intel NUC which in turn directly feeds to my Denon 8500H via HDMI. My receiver then connects to my Sony UHD TV via the ARC hdmi port. Sound is ok but I gather from your videos that it could be better. I would welcome your thoughts. Greetings from Michigan!

You are right, I should have mentioned that I now use a 7th gen i7 NUC running Roon Rock. As far as your setup: HDMI is perhaps the best solution for you since you want to do video as well. For audio only HDMI depends largely on the HDMI receiver circuit in the AV receiver since the audio is sent interlaced with video and has to be taken apart in the receiver. I have little hands-on experience with current AV receivers.

Hello Hans. Do you have a list of the DSD albums in your collection? What about a list of your favorite albums? I’m very glad to have recently found your channel. Cheers

But do you consider that in the audio chain some factors are more important than others? Imagine you have a simple chain let’s say a Dap, an IEM and its cable. Which do you think will be more clearly noticed? Change in the cable or the iem itself?
@TheHansBeekhuyzenChannel Жыл бұрын
All factors are equally important.
@leonardopapantoniou4227 Жыл бұрын
Thanks , four years later. What do you think is more important? I have Raspberry pi 4 with original power supply of 5.1 V 3 A AND ifi Ipower 2 linear power supply with 5 V 2.5 A, knowing that Pi4 needs 3 A for optimal performance
@TheHansBeekhuyzenChannel Жыл бұрын
They are both compromises. But I think the iFi would be my choice.

Hans, what do think about a fan-less case with low power processor (35W) with Sotm tX-USBexp and sCLK48 SuperClock combo and the HDPlex linear power supply powering card and PC independently. It will be same price as Sotm-Ultra with linear power supply but I "guess" it will sound better. I maybe wrong.

I have not tried this, so I can’t give a fair comment.

It would be super interesting to hear in your videos how the sound is upgraded step by step. if you'd record in the same room, same track with a good microphone I guess we could have a better image (well in this case sound). I never understood cable differences, never heard them so I would be super interested in hearing the differences.
@TheHansBeekhuyzenChannel6 жыл бұрын
Are you serious???
@andreibordeianu6 жыл бұрын
Really! except for poor rca connectors suffering from mechanical failure, I never experienced cable differences. Some A-B (C,D... etc in this case would educate me). Funny coincidence only now that I live in the NL is for the first time I came across noise on my audio setup that I carried with me (home country, Ireland and now NL). And that from an onld external hard drive when connected to the new imac, which I will be replacing soon. @@TheHansBeekhuyzenChannel

The quality of the audio codec will mask any difference other than large misbehavior of audio equipment
@andreibordeianu6 жыл бұрын
are the differences that subtle? if that's the case I will just take your word for it and when the budget allows I will slowly upgrade my stuff. my only experience wires wise, was bi-amping the speakers, which indeed created a very subtle difference in audio quality / clarity. @@TheHansBeekhuyzenChannel
@TheHansBeekhuyzenChannel6 жыл бұрын
No, they aren't that subtle, but they become extremely subtle when squeezed through the audio codecs in the KZbin distribution.
