I do wish Red mage/Summoner could do damage, it kinda sux them getting hit with a balance stick because of the utility that battle rezzes give, because if a red mage could do the damage a black mage can do, why use black mage?

The mobility and burst windows popping repeatedly for red is just more useful as rarely is a group popping their buffs all at the perfect window time. So red can take advantage of it. Black is VERY locked into rotation. When it gets broken or interupted it throws off everything. Also if a black mage has to leave the layline at all their entire damage is dropped a big deal. Similarly Summoner damage is just this constantly rolling thing that you can do while moving like a physical ranged class for the most part. This is incredibly useful. Black having that massive damage over the others is there because your chances of actually doing it's full potential is so limited and also reliant on those around you.

As someone who played a ton of Destiny before Ffxiv, be happy BiS is not required. Back when Destiny dropped your level and gear were linked so the only way you could be max level is by grinding the one raid for gear drops in every slot. It was so rough that being level 29 instead of 30 was a meme for years

One thing on bis: I really liked grinding bis for Eureka because it will never become unrelevant (in the context of Eureka). It’s definitely not needed but if you are someone like me who basically lives in Eureka and loves the content, it’s a good investment. It’s still useful unlike other savage bis which becomes irrelevant later on unless you do ultimates with them.

Another based Aitherea vid. You kinda touched on something I like about 14. You mentioned other games where they base their gearing system around real world transactions. You can't really do that in 14 (maybe some people will make the argument about gear from level skipping or bonus editions of the expansions) Also Aitherea mentioned "rich people" buying upgrades in other games. Often there are poor people that buy these also cause they don't want to appear poor. There are companies now that'll offer financing plans for these. I like that 14 doesn't have that pressure. Even the stuff you can buy, it's a fixed price. You're not buying upgrade chances.

100% agree on the BiS. I've played a ton of other MMOs that BIS takes so much emphasis. The pressure to grind for BIS will inevitably give rise to other problems like rampant RMT just to get ahead, locking most players out of content for not having enough gear. The FF14 gearing is a breath of fresh air for me when I started playing in EW.

Gil's two most important uses- teleports and buying gear to get caught up on ilvl to get through MSQ after taking long breaks. I've had to take year-plus long breaks at times and having a few million in the bank to get that set to meet ilvl reqs for MSQ has been a major life saver when returning.

BIS on the 3rd tier is slightly more useful than the 1st or 2nd tier, since being BIS at the end of an expansion allows you to do the entire MSQ of the next expansion without needing gear upgrades (maybe until the 3rd trial of the msq)

Just generally having a full set of the best tomestone gear for an expac does the same thing, and if you didn't have time to get a complete set, the augmented tomestone set becomes available for normal poetics on a new expac drop anyways, so you can fill in the holes with the 2,000 poetics you're probably perpetually sitting on. No reason to savage and ultimate raid to min max it out with BiS.

The thing about Gil being optional.. is that if you ARE super casual and only pop in to do MSQ, you are going to be hit with an ilevel difference that you can… grind for weeks to get up to ilevel, or buy the lowest item level stuff off of the market board. This is my daughter, and as her mom, I do just buy her the latest crafted gear so she can do the content.

The system I daresay is "fine". Week 1 crafters were already churning out greens for Savage content, which was higher ilvl than the tome stuff(the green one). The gear was expensive for a time. I'm sure it's all plummeted in price now.

Basically, update hits, first savage raid tier drops, here's the gear situation on that day: 1) The first set of higher end crafted gear recipes get added to the game. This is the green 710 gear you can get on the marketboard right now. It's in high enough demand that prices won't really plummet until the gear has been firmly outclassed by the next crafted tier. 2) Savage raid gear becomes available. This will will match the iL of the best tomestone gear with the exception of the weapon being five iL higher. On savage tier drop, this is also the only way to get materials to augment tomestone gear, so in general you can only get 720 at the best at the moment without savage raiding. 3) The limited tomestone gear is introduced. This is 10 iL better than the crafted gear, but the crafted gear can be pentamelded by materia, so mileage will vary on what's actually best outside of savage tier. If you don't like dealing with materia meld gambling, the tomestone gear will be best. Only problem is that it's priced in such a way that even hitting the 450 tomestone cap every week, it will be actual months to get a complete set. It's basically paced that you can get one complete set of limited tomestone gear by 7.1. The nice part is it really doesn't matter if you aren't savage raiding, so thank the devs for that lol

I played WoW up until about two years ago and moved to FFXIV after WoW began to cause me serious anxiety issues. And omg, I agree with you 100% about FF. It's so much nicer having the choice of what I want to do, at the pace I want to do it, without feeling like I'm going to miss out on some part of the game. Really agree with the BiS opinion. I'm a super casual player these days, but there's one job I try to BiS, and it's Blue Mage for soloing content. It's one of my favourite jobs and content (and I don't even blue raid, just farm the spells from EX trials with other blue noobs)

This is a take I can get behind, only I even try to clear trials solo and synced to get my weapons. You'd be surprised what it's actually possible to do solo synced. I managed to do Tsukoyomi normal and Innocence normal alone, level and gear synced and earned their spells that way. Stuff like Titania was not possible though (the add phase is way too rough). Most of the spells don't require extreme trials to get honestly. Only Howling Eye Extreme and Whorleater Extreme are needed to be done.

The miqo'te hate because of how "common" it is to play was always weird to me, because if I couldn't play as a catgirl (assuming they removed it/never added it like some haters want), I would have been a bunnygirl, and if that wasn't an option (because let's face it, they would just be the newest hated race), I would have been lizardgirl, and if *that* wasn't possible (again, they would become the next target)... honestly, I'm not sure I would have picked up and played FF14 at all until Dawntrail because I have zero desire to play hyur/elezen/roegadyn/lalafell and only hrothgals would have gotten me to turn my head ...only to end up disappointed and leaving anyway once I encountered all of their limitations/rigging issues they have. If they can't be arsed to even get the character creator to be interesting (and no, a thousand face sliders doesn't count), then that tells me most of what I need to know about how much effort they put into the rest of the game. Admittedly, having a lot of playable races isn't indicative of quality either (see for example how World of Warcraft turned out), but it'll at least get me far enough in-game to see what it has to offer, which is really important given that free trials aren't that common and MMOs can be long-term investments, so you pretty much need filters to sift through them all. Same reason I don't touch ones with 24/7 open world PVP, I won't like it, so I just keep on walking, the other 99% content is irrelevant, including playable races.

@@Prodigy_LZ Because if I'm going to be stuck looking at a character for far longer than any other genre of game out there, I'm going to want it to appeal to *me*, and I don't personally find some races all that appealing. Same thing happened back when I played WoW, I didn't make an Alliance character until they got Draenei because I wasn't terribly interested in "human, shorter human, shortest human and purple elf" when I could be an orc, troll, zombie, or minotaur (races that aren't typically offered as playable in most RPG settings, at least at the time). So if I'm already feeling "meh" before I've gotten into the game proper, the rest of the content isn't probably going to help to keep me there, especially when I have zero attachment to whatever character I sighed and clicked "confirm" on because the customization just wasn't there for me. It's less of an issue (or even a zero issue) with most other genres of games because they have pre-defined characters with a story they already want to tell, but when it's *your* character and *your* story, having it presented as "basic and bland" right out the gate isn't encouraging.

You are correct about BiS 100%. You only actually need it for Ultimate or Savage Criterion. I used to stress so much about BiS and now I'm just chill about it because 1) gear gets replaced in the next patch and its easy to get and 2) I don't do Ultimate or Criterion. I LOVE that about this game!

I guess my warm take is that I love the nightclub scene in FFXIV and how the housing system supports all of the creativity you see in the venues! I know people hate the plaza shouters, but clubbing in this game is just so much fun! It literally motivated me to keep playing the game and do other things besides the MSQ! And yes, Miqo's Rule!!!

The reason why I enjoy doing savage content is unironically due to the friends I have made along the way. It's one of the main things in the game that brings a group of people closer together after clearing a challenging content. I would not have bothered to raid at all if I was playing alone, but it's so much more fun when you have friends to play together with.

in 3.0 days there was a meta that was absolutely broken in ff14. it was drg/nin/brd/mch. the drg had a piercing debuff that increased the damage for not only itself but both the brd and mch and drg was almost a guaranteed slot for that buff alone, nin had trick attack that made everyone deal more damage every single minute along with shadewalker that diverted 80% of the hate they generated to another player which was a must for tanks b/c they wanted to stay in their offensive stance as long as possible and one other skill that limited the amount of hate a party member generated they could give to a member that usually creeps behind the tanks. as for the brd/mch, both had insane burst back then and they both were the mp/tp batteries, this is what granted them the slot too since mp/tp wasn't so easy to come by back then and every other dps suffered b/c they ran out of mp/tp too fast or they had a extra thing baked into their rotation that they had to juggle and keep active to ensure their dps didn't take a severe nosedive down a cliff until they could activate it again. as for tanks and heals, yeah they burned through their mp/tp notoriously fast.

BiS to me serves to just DPS w/e I want to asap i.e Fates/Dungeons/ExFarming incl. parties i decide to join/help & have them worry less about DPS checks in Savage. Gil to me serves to "Save Time". Never needing to craft anything I want as 1 example. Value is Subjective until its something Players want(/need). This tier I made 37 million gil providing Lootmaster merc runs with my alt because I know players value BiS/Mount. Technically everythign is optional Afk-ing in Limsa/Raiding/login into the game. Its just nice to never worry about Gil when you want something, mhm

TLDR: Great video with well-explained points; I wanted to add my point of view to it! I agree with most of the video. Some points I argue a little, but it's very small detail. My unpopular opinion is that I like healers the way they are. The gil: I remember an interview with Yoshi P, saying something like he wants to keep the value of gil that way, not use it for gearing that much (expect week 1 crafted gear + overmeld). You can't buy BiS with gils, and that's great. Gils is for either luxury or convenience. Want a cool mount you can either farm or buy on the market board? don't feel farming? use Gils! Want a crafted cool glam but don't like crafting? Use gils! Do you want to show off with a 50 million mount named Gilsink? Buy it! I see Gils as a way to not waste time; for example, the Turali voucher, famed 70% of them bought 30%, got the mount anyway! Gils need to stay like this to avoid RMT and have more value in the game. BiS: I think BiS is a goal for people who want to achieve. either to clear content faster or, like you said, Ultimate. At one point I wanted to be BiS, but as EU play on NA, finding a static is not impossible but pretty hard if I don't want to destroy my sleep schedule. And like your previous video with your experience in Party Finder, I don't have the will to survive the struggle of PF. Instead, I do my own pre-savage BiS, and it's more than enough for what I do in the game! The balance: I agree and disagree at the same time. I think you're right if we phrase it like this: "FFXIV has the most balanced between job differences compared to other MMOs." If we exclude savage and ultimate, where small potency matters, it's rare to see differences between jobs. I do have an example in mind: out of the 4 tanks, Dark Knight can't survive alone in the dungeon. If the healer and DPS are KO, Paladin, gunbreaker, and warrior can survive and finish the boss, Dark Knight will run out of HP at one point. We can see that kind of unbalance between very specific situations. Of course, don't get me wrong; I would take this kind of balance any day compared to other MMOs like WoW that are completely off balance. FFXIV really put the value of having fun with your job before anything meta for potency, and I love that too! Exclusive Item: It's rare to see any exclusive; to add to your list, I would say any item or mount we could get in the feast, no longer available and only for the first 100 people, or the current PvP reward. Yoshi P stated those rewards will come back at one point, but that's not the case yet. And I would add the glowing weapon agent from the last savage criterion. It needs to be synced if I remember to be able to enter it. Otherwise, yes, everything else is available. I think FFXIV is the only MMO where the developers tell us to play other games and come back when we want; it's very relaxing. But as the game doesn't really have FOMO, it does have FOLYH (fear of losing your house) after 45 days. 😁 And for my own unpopular opinion, I think the design of Healer is great. The easy rotation and easy healer make it preferable for me to be the shot caller when I am content with friends. I can easily observe, tell what to do, and do my simple rotation while my friends concentrate on their hard rotation and listen to me.

I've been thinking for a while that being pentamelded, BiS isn't necessary unless maybe you're raiding :D About the only time I'd really worry about BiS is getting BiS (non-raiding) gear prepping for the next expansion... not patch.. expansion. Through the expansions, I'll keep up with IL just to be able to keep up with MSQ, but otherwise, it's really not necessary unless you're doing Savage/Ultimate content. I also agree about being able to buy whatever you need for just about anything with some kind of in-game currency (not just Gil). Love the fact that you can play any class you want as well.... and you don't *have* to play alts to do so,,, but you *CAN* if you *choose* to. I think the only exclusivity is in the PvP seasonal rewards... Most everything else can be gotten at any time. Even seasonal events (other than PvP seasons) can usually be gotten through Mog station after a year. While I am glad of a lot of the 5.3 changes... There's one or two things that I do miss... I miss the Dance party with the Sylphs (used to be 8 interactions, now it's only 3), and I miss the whole Tataru miner quests that really helped shape where she was heading into Heavensward. Also... I've noticed I'm one of the few that miss Gideon Emery's Urianger... I felt he had the poetic cadence of the character a lot better... but they did tone that down, especially from ShadowBringers onward. Great video!

1. I only get gil to get the gil mounts. I do look forward to my omnicraft journey but its low on the list. 2. I LOVE that FFXIV is not gear focused. I'm not convinced that "casuals" are raiding savage at all. I'm a casual and we faceroll normal each week, but nothing more right now. We'll jump into variant and criterions once they arrive, probably... but the effort to get 8 people together and prog each week is more than we want/are able to do. Gil and BiS are irrelevant. But what do I know, cos I play Dancer and the point is fun with friends not numbers.

"Casual" is usually used to refer to players who will go clear content through weekly meet-ups instead of bulldozing the content on week 1. Midcore is a copium term for people who have a casual schedule and approach to pacing content, but believe themselves to have "hardcore" skills. The reason it's copium is because "casual" doesn't mean you're unskilled or bad at the game, it just refers to how sweaty your approach to new content is.

On job balance: it's sadly true that some jobs outclass comparable jobs on dps, and this has consequences that may but be apparent from the outside. So, I main RDM, and PCT is doing 8% to 15% more rDPS. I don't mind that I do a bit less damage, especially because I get to rez mage! But I do mind that people view me differently because I'm not playing the top DPS caster. I've been pressured to swap to picto for battles, and even kicked from PF groups for no other reason than my job choice. Picto vs RDM/SUM is an extreme case, but sadly, even if it's not a big deal to me, it changes how people see and treat me in high-end content.

Sure, it's pretty easy to just do a Frontline roulette every day and get it, but some people loathe PVP so much they just won't touch it. And they won't get those rewards. I 100% agree with you and love the fact that this game is balanced. I came to FFXIV from FFXI as a Dragoon main. I basically had to learn other jobs in order to play in groups. For the longest time I had to do content as White Mage just to get gear for my Dragoon. Then I switched to Bard. Later on I switched over to Dancer and just stuck with it because it started to be more acceptable to use non-meta jobs. The majority of the time I would be supporting (Whm, Sch, Brd, Geo), or Hybrid (I geared Tank/Heal/DPS on Dancer). A lot of content now in FFXI, if you want to be able to clear it fast and efficient from what I remember when going back, it requires playing specific jobs. In FFXIV, I have never felt pressured or obligated to play another job, whereas in XI I would switch jobs based on what was needed. Now, I just switch roles based on what's needed. Need a healer? I'll go Ast. Need tank? I'll go War. Need a DPS? What type? I'll do Brd, Smn, or Drg. Not having to pick specific jobs based on content is refreshing.

As a raider i wanna speak about my perspective. I'm totally agree on BiS conversation, it's so easy to get BiS and you don't need if you're not speedrunning/parsing although i see many people talking about ffxiv clubbing better than raiding which makes me concern, game turned into big edating scene and most of the people including me having trouble with that. I can't speek with someone freely as how should be in MMORPG game. Because everytime when i say "Good glam" or "Which achievement gives that title?" for example i'm often getting a answer with flirteous way people starting to think like "if someone typing me then it must try to date me or like me" which completely wrong. It's a MMORPG game and the essential aspect of a MMORPG game is social interaction and social structure between players. That's why edating things, date discords and erp nightclubs hurts this social structure Square Enix try to rebuilt. If it keeps going on i'm strongly thinking many people leave because they will feel freaked out by this kind of interactions.

frankly, even without my friends I could afford almost anything I wanted. I do a few diff things to make gil, but mainly i just sell materia. It's the sort of thing where i truly believe that if youve played the game for long enough (and managed to learn a little about making money in the game, which there are plenty of videos on), you will not want for gil. Though my friends have made me crafted gear in the past, I have more than enough money to buy everything I need for raiding. This tier, I didnt even use the crafted gear -- though overmelding provides an edge, you can go into those fights with NM raid gear -- it's the same item lvl, just diff stats and cant be overmelded.

For gearing, tomestones are really the only thing you need if you wanna venture into extra content aside from the MSQ. Obviously once you get to ultimates and perhaps current raid tier(I am just about to start Shadowbringers so I wouldn't know about the latter lol) you will need more specific gear pieces, but the tomestone gear at the end of every expansion + the MSQ gear once it starts to become higher ilevel is really all most players you need. The one gripe I have with tomestones though is that if you play more than one role, or in the case of melee dps 2 classes that don't share gear, tomestone grinding is a chore for gearing multiple jobs, but gearing one role is highly doable with the tomestones you get going through the MSQ and clearing all the dungeons/trials for the first time. I appreciate the tomestone system, even if I at times despise it as someone who regularly plays jobs in all roles lol.

Some stuff needs to be with an asterisk. Gil isnt needed when you dont actually need it but people might need potions, raid food and materia, you also need to buy crafting gear to craft the higher ilvl crafter and gatherer gear. Which gets on to the next point crafted gear and BiS, so savage fights do have DPS checks and higher ilvl gear bridges the gap between the dps checks and more casual players skill to hit these DPS checks. That also brings me on to the next point player skill being a thing means that the percentile between jobs does matter to a certain extent. You say that you can put whatever meme jobs in a party and still clear BUT that does also come down to player skill. If the 8 players don't know how to play the meme jobs and are very low on the damage they wont be meeting the DPS checks in savage. Obviously if you have above average players playing the meme jobs you can clear everything but not everyone can actually do that. I remember when the first tier of the Alexander raid was released you needed the higher ilvl gear to actually clear it and SE had to add higher ilvl starting relic weapons to bridge the gap. Last point female Viera master race!

14:00 I remember back in HW there was a period of time that WHM was refused by some groups because AST was just flat out superior. The raid buffs AST had pushed it way above WHM in terms of overall damage output, and it having shorter cast times so weaving was possible on all GCDs and a bunch of other stuff just made WHM objectively a worse option. I would say final fantasy requires crafted gear more than other games as crafted gear is the best gear you can get without weeks of farming. like sure you can raid without crafted gear but any time you meet a dps check, that's time your static or time in pf that you could of cleared. So you'll want gear or crafters to make gear with overmelds, potions, and food. Even Aitherea hated pf because she would hit enrage with only 2 or 3 death, i'm gonna assume most of pf isn't overmelding or using potions. So it all depends how much harder you want savage to be, while it is entirely possible to go in there with min ilvl and clear it, it's just easier to have the gil to afford crafted gear. food, and pots.

You're 100% correct about BiS being an option. I've had people scoff at me and get mad at me when I tell them that savage isn't that important to me if the glams aren't worth it because What's the point of grinding out a harder difficulty if the rewards aren't worth it and you're just going to throw away most of the gear/glams next tier? If the reward was meant to be the achievement, then they would just give you generic armor gear every tier with different plates of metal. They create new gear that looks appealing to people because glam is a HUGE part of the game. So if I don't want to waste my time "getting good" when the reward is NOT appealing to me, then I can do that. Now what I wish about gear was that dungeons and normal/casual content was NOT made easier with higher gear. It's disappointing to join the game "late" and take on dungeons and trials, but you don't even get to see the full extent of the bosses' prowess because everybody else is higher gear than you. You have to play within a matters of a month to enjoy the newest content. If it's Alliance raid, then you could be skipping phases of the battle within a couple weeks. I hate that people are nearly skipping the "enrage" phase of M4 Normal now due to heightened gear. Which is why I wish Trusts were implemented in every piece of content. Nobody has 4 to 8 to 24 friends they can call on to do casual content with all the time. Even if you're in an FC and have many friends, it's still impossible. People who obsess over gear tend to be more elitist than they should be. Honestly, if you want to be elitist, then my standard for you is that you HAVE TO clear EVERY piece of content in the game AT Minimum Item Level, no food, no buffs, no materia. THAT is proving you're GOOD at the game. If you can't do that, then you're not elitist or "legendary". And you should stuff you ego back down to your anus where it belongs. Bad classes don't even count for World's First because every World's First player is going to have the 610 or 710 Crafted gear with 5 materia melded into every piece of gear. Until World's First players ACTUALLY play at Minimum Item Level gear, with no melds, no food, not buffs, they CANNOT claim they are the best anyway. Want to be the best, then do the content at it's hardest difficulty. Not a single World's First or Legend player would do this, therefore they can shove their "meta" where the sun don't shine.

Even hotter take than ur BIS one; I absolutely loathe ppl that can't take the time to meld materia to their gear during leveling.. You can literally meld +36 materias and remove them, For Free and its 100% to get them back, whereas the new +54 materias have the 40% chance of failing etc.. it feels so bad / takes so long in leveling dungeons and u can def "feel" the longer battles when dps / tanks / healers arent wearing the extra materia.. u're literally leaving hundreds of points of sub-stats on the table by not melding ur crit/DH on dps or crit/det on healers etc... I'd like to see more build diversity in the classes but that could just be me. It seems like ff14 went for having a bunch of jobs with unique styles over having build diversity within the classes. I don't think the way ff14 does their class system is bad, I just want to be able to do different builds within the different classes. I just want to be an ice witch ... but like, Black mage only uses ice when they need mana. ... Maybe it's because I come from Destiny 2 where buildcrafting was a big aspect of that game. Buildcrafting is really fun for me and I wish there was more of it in FF14.

it ends up being an illusion of choice 99% of the time though. Once people figure out the "meta" build, that's it. people are expected to do the optimal thing and people who deviate from that are excluded.

@@Cellybeans If you have access to all the choices for building a job role in customization then it is not an illusion of choice. For example, if there is a Psychic Job class that's good, for "Raw Cosmic PSI damage" and another path, for the Psychic Job class that allows for Mind Crush psychic "PSI Dot infliction" skills, and you have both job styles mastered you could fuse both styles with a custom Job class fusion style system, and have the best of both. the main reason the meta exists in most MMOs is that "Game Developers" do not allow players to access all Job class play styles, this simple fix is just allowing all Job class play styles to be used by switching styles in mid-combat. Imagine a Job Class Family Tree system where all the Job classes in that Family Tree just balance themselves since they are all from the same Psychic Job class Family tree since they all achieve the same goal, but are allowed to be switched in mid-combat during certain phases and DPS uptime, so they all get used. it's not impossible to develop such a job class system that balances itself and allows for complete customizability. Think Devil May Cry styles, but as Job Class family tree playstyles that are switched in mid-combat, it can 100% work.

I also love the stealth quests and solo instances that most hate (Thancred and the "soldier" in EW for example). Narratively they're fantastic and I like the mini-challenge they give. Some of my favorite MSQ to replay.

Just needs more checkpoints for the longer ones (some do of course but some tricky ones don't) imo cause most of the time I'm failing the duty either due to goofing up or internet shenanigans and sometimes it sucks sitting through everything especially if it's a dialogue heavy duty

Throw me in the bin with my trash take coz I'm That Person who's brain is borked and I like the ARR relic grind. Especially the book part. I like having checklists of things to do and literally having one baked into the game is just serotonin central, even if they are the same checklists. I'm not a fan of the Eureka/Bozja versions of the grind. The glams are great, I just don't like the content islands for something like that. It feels like I'm going to a cubicle to do mindless work whereas at least with the ARR books I'm traveling around Eorzea, seeing and doing a multitude of different things. (Also power creep has made it easier than ever to do literally ALL of it so it's fast if you wanna blitz thru certain parts.) Idk, I like it. I won't argue that it's bad. I can see why people hate it, but people also hate food that I love so.... 🙏

I don't like that the ultimates can't be unsynced later on. Like, I get the waiting an expansion thing for EX's and Savages, that's fine, but it's weird that they made Savages and Extremes unsync'able in HW and then when Ultimates arose in SB, they didn't unlock them in ShB. It's inconsistent, and the arguments I hear for why "they have to stay sync'd and hard" are the same arguments people made during HW about why ARR content shouldn't be unsyncable and "will ruin the game." Except, it didn't. It just meant there were timed exclusives, just like now with the current savages and extremes.

i will never get how my friend gets so tilted and toxic over raids and the NEED to get BiS asap when he doesn't even do ultimate raids (i bet he can) so for what is all that suffering when you're not working towards a title or achievement? just to say you have colored parses? i love how you put that out because i've been just watching with fresh popcorn every time its raid season and people get into drama and lots of blacklisting due to pf raids then these ppl, unlike my actual ultimate raiding friends, touch ultimates or other content. in fact they just log out after clearing then level their other characters and can't be bothered to do other stuff lol.

This may come out as rude, but a lot of people dont have a friend to craft stuff for them. The fact that your friend bought you the mount.... provides a point of data that you have people willing to give you 7m out of nowhere. So your value of gil may be quite different from average players.

I've also farmed over 50+ million gil myself though and easily couldve purchased the mount without help. And have videos on how to do it. I understand some people struggle with gil, but I truly believe it's a matter of them lacking the knowledge of how to make it. Even then, there's a lot you can do in the game without gil. There's nothing you NEED with gil, only things you might LIKE to have.
