5 best things on my 2009 1 - Incredibly comfy on a long trip. I've driven cross country in less then 2 days, 17 hours at a stretch. Seats very comfortable, driving position great. I had a 2005 crown vic that would leave me buzzing after a 6 hour trip but not this PT. 2 - Terrific looking paint - I do keep it in a garage. Paint looks like new except for the rear bumper. 3 - very few problems in 72K miles. Couple of door lock motors, blower fan and radiator fan, and a leaking oil pressure switch, motor mounts. 4 - Very versatile - can get an amazing amount of stuff in the "trunk" area plus carry 4 people in comfort 5 - A/C works amazing here in Arizona - one of the best ac's of any car I've had. 5 worst things 1 - lousy gas mileage - pretty much get 22 mpg day in and day out. On a trip might go to 24. If I flog it on short trips might drop to 19. 2 - not a lot of power (mines not turboed) so you have to put your foot in it when you want it to move. Enough power for any normal need but no thrills to be had. 3 - It's almost too cute for such a manly man as myself. But I live with it. 4 - Engine bay is TIGHT when you need to work on it. Luckily it has not needed much. 5 - can't think of a fifth thing.... I never expected it to be such a good car. Only bought it because it was really low priced and I had literally 2 days to buy a car before the "cash for clunkers" deal expired and my old truck was on it's last legs. Compared to the other econoboxes for similar price it was like a cadillac in terms of fit and finish, interior quality look. Also, unlike most of the other econoboxes, you could get a NICE pleasant color interior instead of the cheap dreary black almost all the others had.

As an owner of a '03 Limited, I can honestly say that the #1 pain in the butt with my PT is whenever I have to work on something under the hood. There is absolutely NO room to spare. I also agree with your #1 fun thing, when my PT growls I almost have an orgasm. I love my PT, don't care at all what others think about it either, and hope I can keep it running forever. Great vid. Thanks.

I've had my PT for 6 years & it's been paid off for 4 years. I bought it used in 7/2011 & it was a one owner. Car had only 70k on it when I got it & now only has 90,500k. I've had to replace a couple of Things here & there, but anytime you buy a used car you're going to have to replace parts. Remember, it's not a new car, so things are going to wear out. Anyway, I have the Limited Edition, so it's the top model & I LOVE IT!!! It also handles very well in snowy conditions. All in all, it's a comfortable ride & made for cruisin' & is a lot of car for little money. I've traveled in mine through a few states & it got great gas mileage! So people that say they hate this little car has either bought a lemon, don't care for Chrysler, or they just don't like a 40s style retro. Me personally, I've never cared for Chrysler vehicles, but this little car I do! Plus there's so many ways you can modify these cars! They're a fun car to drive! ❤️😉👍🏻

You gotta take the bad with the good. No car is perfect, there is always be something that you would change about a car that you drive daily. . even if it is only a small thing. i literally just saw an 05 pt gt turbo convertible on sale in my area for $3500. 119k miles. i just saw it tonight. you cant beat that deal.. a turbocharged car for that cheap. im sure you will miss this car when you do finally sell it. if you're like me, you build a bond with a car that you work on yourself. you've done brake work, engine work, suspension work, steering work, custom lighting, not to mention all of the time cleaning and detailing it. whether you want to admit it or not, this car is a part of you now. lol
@jimmycruiserr8 жыл бұрын
Yep, gotta take the good with the bad!!! Especially with a daily like this. That is a very good deal!! And yes, it's really hard to beat that price with any forced induction vehicle anymore, that's why I don't regret for one minute buying this thing. I will miss the PT GT when shes gone, you are right, it's hard not to form a bond with a car that you do work to and take care of, and I have done a lot of both to this old heifer lol. It will be sad, but I'm sure much better will come!!! Thanks for watching dude :)

These cars are so inexpensive. I don't see it worthwhile to put a new engine in one, unless upgrading it. I would just go get another PT Cruser and park the old one. (I wouldn't get rid of it). I just did this with my Scion Xb, but I actually am planning on fixing it. My front end is messed up, it shakes bad going down the road and keeps destroying wheel bearings. So I ended up getting a near mint 09 PT Cruiser for $1000.

Hi I've just found your video and I agree with most of your likes and dislikes. Working on the car is a nightmare and if you think yours is bad try working on the diesel version. The 2.2 Merc engine is virtually bombproof but under the hood it's rammed full so much so that the battery is housed under the passenger seat. Getting that out is a swine. The cars electrics can be a pain also, my radio has been replaced and still doesn't light up so changing channels is hit and miss. On the plus side the body is aluminium so no rust and I love the shape, It's what we in the UK call a Marmite car. Marmite is a beef extract that you either love or hate by the way. Oh and the steering lock is terrible but overall?, yes I'd buy another.
@jimmycruiserr7 жыл бұрын
I have heard that the 2.2l diesel is even worse to work on! I didn't know that about the battery tho lol. Sounds like a mess! I wish I could see/drive a diesel for myself, unfortunately we never got them in the US. A Marmite car indeed haha, neat expression. But I feel the same way about my GT, I'd definitely buy another despite the quirks! Thanks for watching :D

I've only owned Honda's, and one Toyota. I've had two prelude EX SIs, a 2.3vtec accord, an EX CR-V, an EX element, an EX passport, and a corolla S. all of which were amazing cars. I loved the speed of the prelude and accord. I loved the room and capabilities of the the SUV's. recently some ahole stole my car and totaled it and against my will we got a fkn PT Cruiser. needless to say I was less than happy about it. that's the one car I SWORE to myself I would NEVER EVER own...EVER! the day after we bought the car I drove it around town. I can't believe the way this car drives. it is amazing! not only is it fast as hell but it has so much room. I never would have thought that the fastest car I owned was a PT Cruiser. I absolutely love this car.

That is awesome to hear! Even I will say Hondas have plenty of pirks and are extremely reliable, but these PT Cruisers are down right fun!! "Quirky" if you will. I bought my PT Cruiser GT (You can see an exhaust video of it on my channel) as a car for my girlfriend. She loves PT Cruisers, so I made a deal, you get a GT and we'll go find you one. We got ours for $2900 with 130K and really nice. I would have never thought the PT Cruisers were as good as they are... SO much room and it's so tiny. The motor sounds and runs amazing. We have the auto-stick with a Stage 1 PCM and it is really fun to drive. I think I may make a video reviewing it as well, I've had it long enough at this point to know the goods and bads about it. My biggest gripe is the turn radius. Haha. Love the video, keep it up!

Mechanic look so angry as timing belt so hard to change . car has 180k on it outlook and interior i love it so let me see how it goes i will not spend any extra money on it . i hope it goes good i will drive it until it stop or i might sell but positive thing is i really enjoy the drive v comfortable sunroof folding seats interior sound system . in my opinion dont drive it too much just 10 km everyday then you can keep it long time you should not take it too mountains hills or longdrive

Thanks for the video man. Im considering a 2005 PT because a friend has one at a really good price. It has 110,000 miles. Can you point out the major things to watch out for at that mileage? Things that should be replaced or need to be replaced soon. Thanks
@jimmycruiserr7 жыл бұрын
Glad you liked the vid! Good luck! At 110,000mi, I would say the biggest thing to think about is the timing belt/water pump job. It's best to get that done around that mileage, and to have somebody else do it it can cost upwards of $800 - $1,000. There is potential your friend already had the job done too, if so that is a big selling point. The PTs have a lot of little quirky issues, as an owner it can get a little annoying, but it could be worse!

As long as the car feels fine to you (no prominent bad vibrations or weird noises), I’m sure it will be perfectly fine! My PT was worst-case-scenario, and despite that it never left me on the side of the road. @jimmycruiserr6 жыл бұрын
I doubt you'll have an overheating issue if you haven't noticed anything odd already. I've heard it's an issue but I've never had a problem with either one of our PTs over heating. I know sometimes the cooling fan is an issue, but the only time you would notice that is when you're parked for any length of time with the car on, on the highway road-tripping it wouldn't cause a problem! :D Thanks and good luck!
@tuberocityh.20506 жыл бұрын
I realise this is an old thread, but a few things should be checked, and or, replaced before a long trip. Mainly, the cooling system needs to be thoroughly inspected. Replace the thermostat, and fluids if you don't know when last replaced. Check the hoses for signs of cracking, how pliable they are. If the hoses seem squishy or have cracks when you compress them, replace. Tighten the hose clamps firmly, but not tight, they don;t need a lot of torque applied. Get the car up to temp, turn on the heater, and thoroughly inspect for the slightest of leaks, inside on the floor boards and under the dash, underneath the vehicle, inside the engine bay, while paying attention to the radiator for slight leaks. The PT has two belts the serpentine, and power steering, the serpentine being the more important belt as it drives the alternator which charges the battery which in turn powers the electronics on the car. Look for general ware and tear, fraying of the belts, cracks, and the tension should be firm, but not tight. That's about it for now, i was bored, and hopefully this will help someone as it applies to all vehicles, not just the PT.

Always been a Mopar Muscle Baby Boomer, Had the R/T, Chargers, 70 GTX, 69 Road Runner, Cuda, Way to far out of my price range, Should of kept them, like money in the bank, Fast Forward now, 63, Bought a 2003 GT Turbo 2.4 Turbo High output,Doing Mechanic work all my life, The car had a lot of issues as you say, A bitch to work, But all done now, and I got my first speeding ticket in PA, And being honest it was one of their speed traps, that I was warned about, 65 to 45, in about 300 ft, and being out of state, and buzzing with the other traffic, I was the winner, or loser, could of been worse, wrote me for 5 over, I thanked him and went on my wife, And then the sermon from the wife, I was going to my son's wedding in Ohio, Anyway about the GT, Turbo, I was totally impressed with the performance of this little Red Beast, I'm thinking about having a decal made across the Trunk saying, " Don't Forget to tell your Friends, because all they can see is the hatchback, Very much pleased,

oops defrost and power windows should be on like hahhaa
@jimmycruiserr8 жыл бұрын
Hahaha! Yes, the tranny is pretty laggy for an automatic. The 2007 Touring I drove with an auto was even worse than mine! I would never own an N/A unless it was stick. The turning radius was another thing I forgot, you would think it would be a lot better in a car this small! But oh well.

Moog should hire you as their head salesman!!! Haha!
@NecromancerGarage8 жыл бұрын
They're not laggy if you put a Stage 1 PCM on them. It's super fast. It'll chirp 1st, 2nd, and almost third. The transmission is learning one, so if you drive like a dick head, it's do burnouts every time it shifts.
