I signed up for a class that only takes 3 weeks or so. I'm having to pay $1,125 for the entire course. There is a place hiring $18/hr that is very short staffed in my area. I talked to a woman when I saw one of their donation busses and she wrote down my information and said for me to call her once I've passed my course. Don't give up just keep looking. I know it's hard. I moved to a new state and no one wanted to hire me not even McDonald's. So I told my husband hey let me become a certified phlebotomist so I can get a job. I'll officially be starting my class in October. Good luck to anyone out there.

@@justtheworst507 don't be afraid just try your best. Look for phlebotomy jobs in your area that you can apply to after you pass.

Yes!!!!! Omg! I’ve tried American Red Cross, they wanted to interview me at one point, but I turned it done because I was indecisive about my career path. But I’ve applied to almost every phlebotomy job (labcorp, ARC, bio life) and they denied me. I’m looking into becoming a sleep tech now! But whoever is reading this, I wish you the best of luck on your path to success as a phlebotomist! 💕

I just got hired at a place that travels in the area for blood donations and they’re going to fully train me while paying me. There are plenty of options to get into this career!! Thank you for the tips!

Well it's bad and good too. Bad cus you can't get a job. Good cus you know it's a good job, that's why nobody leaves it. But CNA on the other hand is hard and that's why nobody wants to stay

Phlebotomy jobs are out there… now. I guess it depends on your location. A lot of them are hiring with little experience. Networking is key during your training. However, it’s very demanding. I wouldn’t recommend it full time.

Sounds like you need to take another course or change your area. Two years Certified? If you wish youd taken MA then do it! Good luck!

My aunt has been a phlebotomist for several years when I asked her about it she said it’s very hard to get a job as a phlebotomist I think Medical assistants are more needed so you will probably find a job faster and every girl I know that went for medical assistant now has a job as one

This is crazy. There are tons of jobs here for phlebotomists who are newly certified, including the blood donation places. Edit: I also feel like after 2 years there might be more then needing experience.

So I wonder, I am interested in phlebotomy, but should I try to volunteer in conjunction with the cert or become a medical assistant?

Medical assistants can’t draw blood for laboratory purposes. So most MA get certified in phlebotomy

Girl its not a good job or career. I got a hospital job, and they paid $1 more than minimum wage. I could make more at a call center... I was 1 of only 3 in my 30 student class that got a job. We all got paid the same with different companies. Forget it. Where I live in Arizona its not enough to pay rent.

I lived in Northwest Indiana at the time I filmed this. Now I live in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. None of the places I applied to would hire me once they found out the only experience I had was clinical from my training during class.
