In this era of remakes, I'm not opposed to this at all! I like the old video, but hearing your voice on the video makes it so much more interactive and interesting! Thanks for the great Kalimba content! 4 years reigning kalimba princess 👑👑

I enjoyed reading through the script compared to my old video where I was just writing down captions as I edit. So I can focus more on the visuals and the video editing process which made it easier to make :D I also got a tip about content creation while making this which made it more enjoyable half way in the editing process. So this video was a breakthrough in my rut as a content creator.

This video feels like a throwback! It reminds me of when I first got my kalimba, and how rare tutorials and tabs were. So I appreciate the website and all the sleepy videos you provided 💤

Thank you for watching :D And as much as the muspor kalimba has dead tines, I always enjoy the sound it creates. For some reason the dead tines give it an edge compared to my other kalimbas with a clean and dreamy resonance.

Sam, a perfect video that reflects your years of experience playing the kalimba 💜. It will definitely be beneficial not only for beginners but also for advanced players. Thank you, we’re happy to share it. Katarina and Marek Bolf

Hello Sam! Thank you for making this video. I watched your previous video before and thought of wanting to hear more of the dead tines. So I'm glad you highlighted that part more in this video.

It's nice hearing the kalimba playing throughout the whole video. Now I want to pick up my kalimba and play some of the songs you played.

I'm about to get a Kalimba with a pickup to add to my music production. Glad I ran across your channel. It's a great resource. You should do a video on electric Kalimbas!

I was surprised this came out because I was about to buy myself a new kalimba. I'm thinking of getting a kalimba for my sister for Christmas.

Good morning Sam, This is so helpful. It is so interesting that my old Kalimba that I purchased while I was visiting South Africa back in the 70’s sounds so different than today Kalimba. The old Kalimba has a higher pitch than the newer Kalimba. The newer has a richer tone. The cool thing about the Kalimba is that you can bring it anywhere and just play. You don’t have to lug a grand piano or look for one to play. How is your drawing class coming along? I just went to the old place and found a stack of my old museum drawings that I did while I was in college. It has inspires me to start getting back into drawing again. Hopefully I can get back to the level that I once had. Talk to you soon, and keep that drawing pencil sharp, take care and have a blessed week. 🙏🍁👻🎃😎

One day I would want to play a kalimba made in South Africa. I'm curious about the history behind this instrument and what it feels, sounds and looks like in its original form. So maybe in the future, South Africa is going to be one of my destinations and try to hunt down one if there are still any around. My drawing classes has been fun. I'm teaching kids and adult beginners the basics. Everyone seems like they are really passionate about drawing. I for one am starting to draw a lot more than usual, and I'm starting to understand the art style that I'm leaning towards. I don't have much patience which is ironic because being and artist requires a lot of patience. So I'm having fun with just messy rough drawings that are less detailed and precise. I am enjoying shading and drawing things with movement. It seems like a great idea to just draw whenever you visit museums, you gave me a great idea in the future. I would have a dedicated museum sketchpad :D

@@SamSalvador Sam, if you need anything or have any questions about art or drawing please feel free to ask me, if I can suggest things to you. How I finally learned how to shade was studying the fabric fold from the great, master drawing to see the how they can make 3 dimensional from just using light and dark on the folded fabric. You can see how the light catches the fabric fold. Prior that time I was just learning how to control the 3 dimensional look by controlling the pressure on my drawing pencil. Trying to master the controls of your drawing pencil by putting pressure on your drawing pencil to make it look 3 dimensional without shading was not easy but that how I self discipline myself to master the pencil. It has a lot to do with how heavy handed your line quality is. You will beginning to understand how important it is to mastering this technique. It will give you a feeling of connecting with the subject. It took me two semesters to finally figure it out. Before that time my drawing was just okay. But having to self discipline and be more patience you can accomplish this technique. Hopefully I can learn to post up some examples of my drawing so you can see what I mean. It is great to start getting interest into drawing again. Thanks Take care and see you on the next vlog. Have a blessed night. 👻🎃😎 Sam, also can you teach me how to play “Clair de Lune” on the Kalimba? I think it will sound great on the Kalimba plus it is one of my favorite pieces of classical music. I will appreciate it. Thanks

Interesting. I have found the opposite to be true! There is NO need to pay more for a kalimba to get a good one! You can get a good kalimba for less than £20 and they make a great sound! I am a musician and I have been playing a number of instruments for years. It is not true that more expensive items are better. In my experience making a good sound all depends on how much you practise, how much pressure you apply, how well you tune your instrument, how well you treat it. I got a hollow kalimba and it makes a lovely sound. You can cover the holes at the back with your fingers and it creates a nice effect. I played my kalimba with very short nails for about half an hour and it did NOT hurt at all. It is perfectly fine to play the kalimba with short nails.
