Way too many people look for a style without the work involved in actually working on their skills. I wish more people listened to artists who say "just practice, it'll come later" The idea of accepting rejection is definitely a lesson I'm glad I've learned, then again I'm burdened with an overabundance of confidence. I tend to agree, don't lose who you are based on what sells. Though, don't ignore what sells is also good advice. I mean, at the end of the day, drawing women is always going to attract some attention.

Shades Of Kin I practice shading, small things like drawing a nose or a mouth and yesterday a wolf’s head; just using tutorials and trusting the process. and as always „every beginning is the hardest“

lol what is weird is, I actually naturally love drawing beautiful, attractive, curvy women! I don't do it because I think it's what people like. I do it because I really like doing it, and I'm straight! I actually find drawing men boring... no offence because I love men, but drawing them. I'm just no good at it but have no interest in practicing. I actually feel bad. I will try drawing men. When I learned I was really good at drawing and painting faces/busts, I went with what was popular. I started drawing celebrities because I thought they'd be a good selling point. I thought people might be more interested in buying or looking at my art, not just because the people were popular, but because it was people they'd recognise and know I did a good job because they looked so accurate to the real people they know.

This is honestly one of the best videos I've seen so far. It's so calming to hear her talk about her experience, and at the same time enjoy the work she produces. She says she's not the most polished speaker, but wow, everything she said was very well said.

Can you make a video on coloring? Because I always hesitate to color in my drawings for fear of ruining them.

TheDarkHiddenWorld i agree so hard. I would rather shade slightly or just leave it white. But i want to venture out of my boundaries.

TheDarkHiddenWorld Yessss! When I try to color I end up ruining my drawing, but without it it just looks unfinished...

Sammeeee! Sometimes it looks good, but other times it looks bad and ruined. I just leave it and try to improve later when I have more skill

You should take another light piece of paper and sketch over that drawing before you color it in case you mess up.
@cher40576 жыл бұрын
Take a good picture of it and swatch on adobe sketch. That works for me. Or trace the drawing and color in that.

I am constantly pointed on budgetting at everything but hearing this, it's true. You don't move forward if you can't get what does help you working faster. Like, I use pencils and marker and inks but to fill a page, ecoline or paint helps to paint in the background much faster

I really needed to hear all of what you said in your video. I've been struggling with my art lately. I was on a roll for so long, drawing and making pieces everyday, up to 2 pieces a day and now everything I draw out is not as good as I want it to be and I leave, come back to it and still the same. So ive been feeling down about my work and it lifted my spirits listening to you today.

I completely agree with what you said about staying true to yourself and what you want to draw, instead of letting others dictate what you're best at and should focus on. In 2013, I started making realistic acrylic landscape paintings, and discovered that I was pretty good at that. But after I startet studying illustration, I eventually grew tired of realistic painting, and wanted to do more creative stuff. My more creative artworks weren't nearly as good as my realistic ones at the time, so several people advices me to really focus on landscape paintings. I didn't completely stop painting realistic landscapes, but I really started practising what's probably best described as traditional childrens book illustrations, and loved it. Now, 5-ish years later, my childrens books inspired illustration style has improved A LOT, and every time I try doing a realistic paintings, I realise how much I now hate it. People still love my lanscape paintings though, but I do also get a lot of positive feedback on my illustrations, so I'm forever glad I didn't listen to that advice!
