Correction @8:13 . FD are tax exempted upto 1.5lac under sec 80c and the only income tax that you have to pay on it is on the interest part of the fd which is @10%.

Now it is your job to get to the fundamentals of this, be aware of what opportunities lie around you, listen to the budget (or atleast read the highlights of it) and educate people around you. As someone whose life has been revolving around Finance, I cannot emphasize enough, about how important managing personal finance is, and how life-changing it could be if you start as young as possible (the power of compunding). This is a very good initiative as these topics are never discussed in school or college and most of the young chaps of my age are still unaware about all these. luckily me, being from a non-finance academic background, knew almost all of these and have seen friends struggling to understand simple exit load, let alone tax calculations. We need to spread awareness about managing money as most of our generation only knows how to spend it, and very little to save it.

Love the podcast. Just a clarification, TDS on FD interest irrespective of slab is 10% (31.2% in case of NRIs). Income tax on FD interest depends on slab and could be exempt also.

Tanmay Sir this is a very brilliant subject you have taken up and it is discussed in a very nice way ... one suggestion have such discussions with people from different financial backgrounds ... like as you said most here are frm top 1 or 2 percent try if you can get people from middle class lower middle class poor or even very poor background try to bring out their financial insecurities and situations and implications of finance in their life ... this is easy to just say and difficult to do i understand but if it is feasible it would be a very good eye opening for people on their POV of money ...
