Not only is weight training just good for our muscles, but also our bone density! We ladies are more at risk for osteoporosis (brittle and weak bones). Weight training before your bone density becomes too low is crucial in keeping osteoporosis from occurring sooner! If you’re under 30 it’s even more beneficial to start now! :)

These are all absolutely essential things and it is VERY important to maintain a size that puts the least amount of stress on your body and give you the maximum quality of life. please don't fall for the "z snap, men still love me, who cares" bs. @christianabakare8530 Жыл бұрын
Do you mind explaining what you mean by overtrained? And how does it make you lose your period? I never knew that was possible..
@LilyJade703 Жыл бұрын
@@christianabakare8530 Of course, and yes it is very possible and more common than people know. You can do some research into hypothalamic amenorrhea, female athlete triad, or RED-S. Those are all more extreme cases that also deal with overtraining and being undernourished. I can tell you that a consistent weight training routine with low intensity cardio a few times a week got me in the best and healthiest shape I’ve ever been. I lost 60lbs and maintained it easily. Then I began running and incorporating more high intensity work, I saw quick results and got stage lean however after a couple months my body was completely depleted and my period was gone due to low estrogen and low energy availability. I had been on birth control which masked the fact that my period was gone. My brain essentially said that the overtraining without proper fuel meant that I was dying and therefore it shut off non-essentials such as reproduction, digestion, and an array of other things. My hair, skin, and nails were wrecked. My skin wouldn’t heal at all so I would have abrasions lingering for months. I lost the ability to focus because my brain was always foggy. My resting heart rate became so low that I was constantly freezing to the point of crying. The impacts of low estrogen lead to menopausal symptoms such as hormonal weight gain (even though I was not eating in a surplus), constant puffiness, weak and brittle bones, achy and cranky joints. It was truly devastating to my body. Now, I’m having to take a massive break from all of it. I’ve lost all the body composition goals that I had met including those that I had done healthily and maintained for years with no issue. I may be able to return to training after a few months but it’ll be much slower because my body will still be very fragile. I basically have to give up any aesthetic or performance goals until everything is working properly again which could be years. I don’t want to scare you. My situation did include high intensity running of 40+ miles a week and high intensity weight circuits for several months as well as a very slow and sneaky eating disorder developing, in addition to a very high stress year in my personal and professional life. Simply, every aspect of my life blew up for a year and now I’m dealing with the fall out. Be kind and love your body at every stage. Sorry for the super long response but I hope if anything it informs just one other person so it becomes more commonly known.

Yeah I don’t get all the women saying they don’t want to lift weights, gain muscle, and thinking starving is what gets them an instagram/Hollywood body when it’s literally the opposite and the evidence is clear… butt and legs are the biggest muscles in our bodies. Muscles grow when you exercise them and eat healthy foods. More muscle = higher metabolism, more calories spent, so not only you CAN eat more, you HAVE to eat really well to grow muscle. Muscle helps to have a small waist by burning fat. Muscle on your back, shoulder, arms, butt, legs, not only looks good by itself, it also has the effect of making your waist look smaller by comparison. A curvy body of a women isn’t they different from a man bodybuilder: triangle shape torso with small waist and wide shoulders (although wider for men), and hips/butt/legs wider than the waist (more significantly for women) A feminine shape has muscle, even if with a bit or more body fat depending on your preference. Next time someone says that bad pressure from social media and Hollywood is causing people to starve themselves, remind them that while there is mental health issues caused by it, “starving” and bad diets is caused by total misconception of how to achieve those body types. It takes true healthy diets and true healthy exercise to get that dream body. No bodybuilder, male or female, no instagram model or Marvel super hero got their body by skipping meals or eating an apple a day. They workout and eat a lot of protein and vegetables (and plastic surgery, and drugs, but another day) TLDR: it takes good habits to get an insta body, not bad unhealthy habits.

Yes, also on the "storing more fat than men" thing, men healthy store 3% overall body fat while women healthy store about 12%. It's fine to work out and get abs but try to not over work yourself to get amazing abs cause women having abs means they are more muscle-y and less fat then is needed and it can actually stop you from having a period. You can look it up to get a better understanding but that's pretty much the gist I think. I'm bad at explaining lmao forgive me

There are two cycle phase: the follicular phase and the luteal phase. The follikular phase right after you had your period is your most productive phase, it makes you motivated, strong and energetic, even makes you more beautiful and symmetrical. The luteal phase comes after the ovulation (that happens like 2 weeks before your firsf day of your period, if you don‘t take hormones) and makes you more bloated, retain more water and deplets your energy levels more quickly. Try to workout more gently in the second phase of your cycle and don‘t beat yourself up if you don‘t have the same power in that phase!

Also, to add on, we don’t just “tend” to carry more fat than men. We need it for our organs to function! So please don’t strive to have a dangerously low body fat percentage! I know it sucks but unfortunately we are just not able to do so in a healthy way.
@trumpsleftnipple2772 жыл бұрын
@Sarah I wasn’t talking about the average American woman, lol. I know most people today especially in wealthy countries have a good bit of extra fat. I’m specifically referring to women who don’t know how unhealthy it is to reach sub-essential body fat percentages (less than 12-13% usually.) If you want to go for 20, 18, hell even 15% (which is very hard), that should be fine, but it’s very harmful to go below that. I had amenorrhea at 16% bodyfat, so everyone is different, too.

I’ve recently started going to the gym two weeks ago. Yesterday I started my cycle and I’ve never been the type to be in a lot of pain on have my daily life hindered by my cycle. So I didn’t think much of it when I went to the gym last night but omg dude I couldn’t do nearly as much weight or train as intense as I usually do. I was super surprised lol.

I used to be: Stronger than all boys of my age around me Lift heavier without even feeling its hard what men couldnt Food didnt affect my strength at all Hard to adapt but then it would stay as muscle memory for more than months. After pregnancy (till now its been 4th year with two kids and one is still 8months old) -Cant even walk normal -if i dont eat enough im always dizzy and weak -hands always shaking After training i feel weaker and my heart rate comes back after a day if not more -i cant lift heavy without side effects Ik pregnancy and breastfeeding affects a lot and ik i'll have time to recover but especially being the endomoprh type that has hard time losing fat and trainings and strnegth were the only thing that made me feel better about myself, the situation sucks . I feel like i am so much weak and its like loosing your shine

One of my biggest reason to not do weight training was, i was scared to look manly i didn't want to lose all the curves and plump my skin has but I'm glad i was wrong and ive been training from more than a year now and i am most confident than i ever was in my entire life, it also improves your mental health along with physical health❤

What you eat a week before can drastically change the severity of your cycle. If you can, stay away from greasy junk foods, and maintain a healthier diet, it should lower its severity. There are also medical options that you can get from your doctor if your period is particularly severe. In addition, lifting weights will have tremendous benefits for women who intend to have children.
