It's a bad format to "showcase" this mod as indeed it can (easily) be mistaken as a body integrity disorder instead of being "just" a bodymod. Without a sequence longer than "it's cute" I can see how it would absolutely confuse people. Navel/(male) Nipple removal would have been a better example in this clip. Like a split tongue is just an asthetic thing and you don't remove anything but chopping it out would be quite mad. And it is quite dangerous to remove body parts since you can lose a lot of blood.

This makes me feel so thankful I have such a supportive family. I recently just got married and yes I do have colored hair, multiple piercings, and tattoos. As well as my husband has many more tattoos than me, yet they are more hidden. I didn’t do the whole traditional white dress thing. Everyone, including myself, all wore black for our wedding and it was absolutely beautiful. I know I may be “weird” but it was so refreshing to see so many people supportive and respectful of us doing what we want and what makes us happy. 💕

It's interesting how people with body modifications are questioned about their decisions over their bodies but somehow when parents choose to modificate their baby's bodies no one bats an eye. Like earrings and circumcision, those are body modifications too you know

I don't think you should or can, compare the two. Circumcision and getting an infants ears pierced are POPULAR choices that are perceived as "normal." These people in the video have made unpopular decisions ( for the western culture, of course different cultures will have different perspectives) and are usually rare to find on people. People make a big fuss on what's different, it has always been that way.

dirty water I don't see why not, all are body modifications choose to be done by an adult person, in their case they choose to do them on their own bodies, in the other "more common" cases the adult parents choose to do it on their children bodies. So, considering both are the same thing, they are comparable by all means, and I find really ironic that people are more shock by what these persons choose to do to their own bodies than by the choices other people make over babies and children's bodies that are in no way able to understand or consent. The fact that it is "POPULAR" or common or cultural doesn't make it more acceptable, if it wasn't any of those things it would be highly criticized (just imagine news about parents doing bellybutton piercings or tattoos on their babies....) After all, it is modifying another person body's without their consent, so is really hipocritical to be "ok" with that and critical about this

I mean, chopping off a finger is extreme, but she made an informed choice to do so, uninfluenced, by herself. Piercing & circumcising babies is done without the recipient's consent (as it is impossible to gain informed consent for anything from a baby) and, as you say, they are popular modifications and widespread meaning that the decision to make such modifications to a baby is less likely to be informed and independent, as hers was, and much more likely to be done blindly or as a result of social pressures

Shueps x I got my ears pierced too late, usually people do it when their kids are like new borns, but my mom wanted my ear pierced and because I was a bit older it was a struggle and the worst part is, it wasn't even done by a professional, it was done by my aunt. Now I have to live with ear piercings that aren't even centered

Yeah. I'm not one to judge her, but I personally felt horrified. I need every one of my fingers 'cause I'm a musician. I mean she probably isn't but perhaps she could grow interested in learning to play an instrument and then she'd have it so much more difficult. One thing I will never understand is the double standard that plastic surgery is okay but body mods are not. Plastic surgery is okay, it's your body. Sure you're beautiful the way you are but if you really want to change something and have the resources to do so, your body your rules. The same applies to body mods. If it's something they want to do and they have the resources, why should it be treated any differently than a boob or butt job? It shouldn't, your body your rules, no one else's opinions matter. Also don't you dare reply with something like "one looks natural and one doesn't" because that's just bull. People over do butt and boob jobs all the time to the point where it doesn't look natural at all and they still don't have to deal with half the shit people with body mods do. At the end of the day if it doesn't affect you why care? Judge people based on who they are, not by the art they choose to create with their bodies.

Lol No Unnecessary plastic surgeries are NOT OK. If you have a real deformity then yes, plastic surgery is OK. Burn victims, severe trauma victims, amputations. This is what plastic surgery is for. The only boob jobs I see as OK are for breast cancer survivors and for trans people.

Pig Destroyer actually, it does quite a bit. My dad broke his hand six times and so his pinky is pretty much unusable, he can't even straighten it. The problem is that it contributes to a huge amount of your gripping strength, so when he was climbing, he couldn't use his ring or pinky finger and fell fifteen feet.
