Suggestion for y'all: I was homeschooled as a kid. We never had those hour-by-hour schedules. We had a list of things to do for the day, and if we'd done them all, we could go play. We could do the things we didn't need help for in whatever order we wanted, and then we took turns doing things we needed my mom's help with. If your kids have assignments from their teachers, I recommend letting them choose what order to do them. It feels like more freedom, which I think is something we all need right now.

People, I was homeschooled. For all the people that made fun of my family... I graduated from college two years early, my brother has traveled to Washington D.C. on multiple business trips, my sister is happily married on a farm... look, homeschooling may be tough, but if done properly, it can actually really help a child. They don't have to worry about drama or being bullied, or bullying others to make themselves feel better. All it takes is dedicated parents... that's it. Key word: dedicated. Take the time to raise your kids right, and life will go so much better for you.

Amen to that! Growing up in the military and moving constantly, homeschooling was actually the best way to go in our household. The work stayed consistent versus transferring from school to school. When we originally started with the campus setting, class material was always taught out of sync. It was a totally nightmare! Homeschooling was such a blessing for us all! I ended up finishing school earlier than I would have on campus. I continued my studies all the way up to PhD level. Homeschooling definitely prepared me to stay focused in my studies. I will also state that every person is different and homeschooling is not for everybody.

After all, you have been teaching your little ones since they were born. 2. Semper Gumby ( Always Flexible ) You have to roll with it y'all! Don't get so caught up in the schedule that you miss the teachable moments. You can learn so much just making cookies with the kids. and 3. The best schooling is learning how to think and how to find answers, not in memorizing facts. ( except your times and addition tables. Those you need to memorize! ) Remember all learning begins with two statements. " I don't know." and "Let's find out."

Have you ever seen common core math? That crap is no laughing matter! 👎👎😭😭😢
@killersopinion18294 жыл бұрын
@@heyyall9378 The way common core is actually taught in public schools, it is being used to replace the old way of doing math. Kids are FORCED to draw diagrams to prove a simple math fact that we were made to memorize. Common core really is the long way around in doing math.
@rivka9544 жыл бұрын
Yeah common core math is like the people were on LSD when they thought it up. I do advanced plane analytical geometry for fun so I'm a pretty fair judge on it. I've always homeschooled my kids so I go old school math all the way through calculus and they do just fine, better actually than the local HS grads.

Rivka almost all home school kids do better than public school children
@JaydedCammie4 жыл бұрын
Common core is teaching kids how numbers relate to each other instead of filling out a form. When I was in college, I tutored algebra and statistics. The students who were taught common core had a lot less trouble with the mathematical thinking required in late high school/college level math.

this pandemic is a nightmare and possibly the WORST thing for teachers... schools aren't saying forget it parents have to teach their kids,, teachers are having to put their lessons online and they have to handle all of their students they get throughout the day (100-200 depending on the school) in one day... they feel bad because their kids aren't getting the education they need,, why on earth would you think this is good for them?

My older kids are doing well on their own so I think most parents of older kids are letting them be but the elementary parents are on the struggle bus with the homeschooling. But I feel ya, I can’t imagine how hard teaching kids in high school is!! That’s a lot of attitude I’m sure. My high schoolers tell me stories and it sounds crazy!!

Homeschooling was/is way different from quarantine schooling. I grew up in a family of 8 kids and we didn't do co-op. But we did schooling that was unique to each one of us. We were able to sing in a homeschool choir and go on choir tours to different states and a bunch of different places in our home state. We sang at nursing homes/assisted living places, community events, military bases and events as well as private gatherings and talent shows. We did a lot in the community as a family as well. Co-ops, in homeschooling are good because it gives the parents a breather and allows the sharing of common experiences with parents and children of other homeschool families. Homeschooling is also very flexible. I loved it! My mother was an awesome teacher, I just didn't like learning in the traditional sense so ended up teaching myself a lot. But my Mother was totally awesome and still is! The only public schooling I have ever done is what I am doing in college and the experience there, I think, isn't even as bad as everyone makes it out to be. Homeschooling also allows the children to be raised to think and make decisions early on their own which is a really good thing.

@Jami Hensley Mom was home morning till 3 I took over then(we both needed to work). I and 2 of three of my children are ADHD so yeah we need to burn energy before even trying to sit still. As for training yup dogs and humans need to be "trained" different skills but the same mindset(I don't yell at dogs or children). If you haven't tired someone with ADHD out before asking them to be still you are not helping them or yourself. Yelling at someone to be still is not training it is cruel. Training is ok, I see you are needing some exercise, here is a push mower go cut the grass come back when you are done and we can study or rest.

Glenn Robertson It’s not a matter of “spending time” w/ them. It’s a matter of teaching them and w/ authority and assurance that you know what you’re talking about and what you say is accurate. 🤓 Parents don’t wanna be responsible for their kids failing or falling behind on stuff. Especially since now one teacher that’s never done this before is teaching ALL subjects as if they know what they’re doing and this is not just the entire family learning stuff together. Like when you all sit around watching episodes of How It’s Made.😂🤣
