As an American sever, I don't think you're ungrateful. Tipping sucks for everyone. The customer has to deal with the emotions you guys were talking about and the worker has to deal with shit pay because you had a bad day. Honestly don't think anyone wins... except the company because they don't have to pay their workers as much. So I guess we're all getting screwed by them.

As an American, I feel jealous of the countries who don't tip, because it overcomplicates things, people who don't get tipped don't get paid and it irks me that other countries are picking up on it.

Also as an America, that simply is not true. The law in EVERY state in the country is that IF the worker does not make enough between regular wage and tips to meet minimum wage then the company MUST make up the difference so that they are at least making minimum wage.

I’m so glad yet so saddened by finding out that one of the guys that makes up one of my favorite groups of content creators shares a similar issue as myself. Misophonia. And I’ve always had it for many things, Adam I hope yours at least is a lesser degree. I know I tend to get a cerebral response that throws me into fight or flight. And I have to walk away. I remember struggling with it a bit when I was in the military. I think tinnitus has decreased it a bit for me…. But, thank you guys for creating/sharing more content that makes me more happy I stumbled upon your content! Side note: now I know that Baelin is Rowan’s dog’s name and makes me even more glad Baelin’s Route was my first exposure to VLDL!

Slow walkers.... I grew up in NY and would go into the city often... where there are 7 mazillion tourists walking super slow, taking up the whole sidewalk, gaping at the tall buildings and not looking around at all. To give you an idea of how fast I walk, I once *walked* 20 city blocks (about a mile) in 10-ish minutes, which (sadly) is about the speed I run a mile LOL So like... get out of the way. I used to legit growl or hiss at people as I passed them LOL

I had an experience back in middle school gym before with the whole should I or should I not say something. My class were sitting around in a circle on the floor with the gym teacher, this was back when we had PE outfits, ours was a gray top with red shorts. Well I look over and the guy across from me had his sausage laying on the floor next to his leg. I kept trying to look away and was feeling really uncomfortable when the gym teacher, a man suddenly yells. "____ Go to the bathroom and organize yourself." a few girls giggled when he left, I just felt relieved.

I'm an American and was once a head cook at a 5 star resort on my way to becoming a head Chef. when the opportunity came up I asked my current chef privately how much he makes and it was less than the part time bartender made because of tips. I put my two week notice in the next day. Now I manage A Subway franchise and make more then I did as a chef and have the energy to use my skills at home to insure my kids eat well. I'm not against tips, but it has gone a bit to far to the point where "serving" is a more viable career than being a chef.

I'm an American, and I hate how tipping works here. Blows my mind how it's legal to pay people $5 less than minimum wage, and expect the customers to pay 20% more for their meal to make up the difference. And if customers don't tip, the employee gets fired. So dumb.

As an American that waited tables at TGI Friday's in my youth made $2.13hr but the restaurant has the obligation of making sure you make minimum wage. Even with some really unreasonable customers I averaged well over minimum wage. Providing good service with a smile goes a long way

I've genuinely found that choosing to belive this person is suffering the loss of someone close to them that has completely wiped their ability to do things. I've definitely done the sudden stop when I've been trying to chat to a friend who was feeling suicidal and reached out suddenly...
