Ive just started my information gathering to buy a longarm. (Just like you, lots of tops to finish, but it takes me so long to hand quilt them, which I love doing). Thank you for the great and helpful info. Its given me questions to ask when deciding which to buy.

Thank you for doing this video, it was so informative. I just came back from the original sewing and quilting expo in Raleigh North Carolina. I had the best time. I am seriously thinking of getting along on machine because I have over 15+ quilts that have to be finished. Your advice has been so valuable thank you again

Wow!you have blown my mind on all you told us. This was so helpful and now makes me not really want one because I was already having trouble trying to figure out which one I wanted but you really brought up some very good points about set up, distance, if it breaks down, training. Such a very important part of the buying process I never thought about. Mine would have been for me as I make a lot of quilts for my family and friends. I've yet to make myself one! Thank you so very much and God Bless. Merry Christmas to you!

Hi Deborah. If you do your research and pick a quality machine, you'll be fine. I did a lot of research online and in person before purchasing. Also online is a great amount of tutorials with designs and tips for loading. I don't miss using the floor or table to baste quilts prior to quilting on my regular sewing machine. Good luck in your endeavors and Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

Fantastic information. So many things to think about. I'm just in the process of gathering info, only have 3 quilts right now so not sure if it's going to be worth it. I just finished quilting a lap size on my domestic sewing machine and found it very frustrating dealing with the limited small and a few puckers I couldn't fix 100%. It would be fun to have a long arm. I'm retired now, so have lots of time to play. Thanks for all the info. Watching you from Ontario, Canada.

Hi Tea, thanks for the input. I agree your considerations on your investment and uses for the machine. I purchased a Baby Lock Coronet that fits beautifully in my sewing studio. I have used it every week since October 2016. I still take some larger jobs to my LongArmer who does the king size collaborated quilts I make. Have a great springtime and I look forward to your further news releases. Take care, Fran Rhine

Hi! I just watched your three videos about your Gammill purchase and really enjoyed them; especially the first one about your suggestions of what to look for in a machine, etc! The two quilts you showed in the third video were beautiful! Do you make the quilt tops or do the quilting for others? I do hope you post more videos of your work and usage of the machine. I could never get a machine like that, but, have learned so much from videos, I do hope you do more videos! Good luck and best wishes for your endeavors! 🙂

+Sharon C Hi Sharon. Thanks so much for you comment. I too thought I'd never be able to purchase this machine too! When the time is right, it will fall into place for you like it did for me. The quilts in the video are my quilts that I pieced and then quilted. I actually purchased my machine to finish over 50 tops that I have sewn. If I fall into a quilting business, I'm okay with that too, just not right now! You can visit my other channels where I post quilt photos and links more frequently. Love all your info. I have a Baby Lock Crown Jewel and was thinking of upgrading to a Gammill. Only problem is that there is no dealers close by in Ct. closest I believe is 3 hours away. Was wondering in all your searching, what your second choice would have been. Maybe they have a dealer closer. The closest dealer here for me is Bernina and the Q24 is more expensive than than the Gammill. 😢any info would be much appreciated!😊
@teaquilts
@teaquilts 7 жыл бұрын
If you have a dealer 3 hours away, I'd still consider a Gammill. Nolting has a fine machine too. However, the customer service I received was better at Gammill. Why go with Gammill? I've have very minor user-error issues. Only two were due to faulty product and they replaced ASAP. One of my control buttons malfunctioned within 3 month and my external bobbin winder needed replacing. Those were very minor fixes and they would have mailed the parts to me free of charge. The controller was a simple remove old part and replace with new part. Since I lived an hour away, I decided to go into the store to increase my customer relations with the store; it was not necessary for me to take the trip. In all honesty, after all my research, I would have purchase Gammill even if I had to go to the headquarters, which is 5 hours away. This was because of product, value for my money, customer service both insore and at quilt shows, and for me location. Gammill has been the leader in the industry and they've really got the kinks worked out and I know longarmers to have had the Classic for over 25 years with no problems. Sometimes, you can find one of these used machine to purchase. You could pick up machine and hire the Gammill dealer to install and you'll get an onsite lesson. The Classic does not have regulated and coast regulated stitching, only constant. However, this machine is a workhorse. I love that the Q24 is more like a home machine and was surprised at the stability of the framing system although it's not bulky like the Gammill and Nolting. I did test the Q24 once when it first came out, but I didn't want to commit financially on a "new style" longarm during 2014 and 2015 when I was researching.

Hi Debbie from Alabama, I am thinking of purchasing a longarm quilting machine looking at the Juki longarm quilting sewing machine from amazon. Will it be enough space to quilt a king size quilt? Help any advice will be received gladly.
@teaquilts
@teaquilts 7 жыл бұрын
I don't know a lot about Juki machines. I would check the model (especially if used) as that will tell you the numbr of inches in the "quilting area", i.e., 22" usually quilts about 18-19 inches and it gets smaller as you roll. The frame is usually 10 feet, but could also be sold/use as a sit down too. A 10ft frame will quilt a queen, but not a king quilt. That being said, you can take off and reload the part of the quilt that wouldn't fit on the roller. Your question is more complex than just giving a straight answer. Take the model information on the Amazon site and google it. You should find a lot of information to help you.

Can you help me. I have a King quilter limited edition from sewing machines plus. I cannot find a locking mechanism so that the carriage will not go forward or backwards so I can move it across my quilt to make sure it is straight, I called the company they said that It has none. I don't know anything about the king quilter limited edition sewing machine. However, Handi Quilter has a KZbin video about a mechanical channel lock they use that should be adjustable to any machine. It will only lock the machine so that is will stitch horizontally though. Maybe you can find something similar at the hardware store. Here is the link: kzbin.info/www/bejne/b2ivpnqDZbNpnrM
