Cut them a break Christ. There's a lot of hilarity here that isn't getting credited because of how 'terrible' the show supposedly is now certain people have left. Sure Hugh is a driving force here but you can't disregard some of the humour of the others because it's not at all unfunny. The show was never going to stay the same from the start and it's always had faltering moments. But consistently these videos get liked more than disliked anyway. Wouldn't it have been worse if it had been cancelled instead of continued after John Oliver left or after Frankie? Then instead of complaining about the content everyone would instead be complaining about 'that show' that had potential to be a long-running one. Give them a break and reward instead their continued efforts to come up with stuff on the spot. It certainly isn't easy.

India Childs. The show didn’t deteriorate because certain members left. It deteriorated because it became too self-regarding. Too much forced laughter, especially following weak jokes. It all seemed completely fake. These shows aren’t as spontaneous as they like us to believe but in recent times the Mock the Week just seems crass.

The returning officer is the person who makes sure the election is conducted fairly and that the votes are counted properly, and then announces the result in each constituency (as in, people were asked who their MP should be, and this is the answer they gave in return. In the official jargon, they used to talk about the winning candidate being "returned" to Parliament).

Even when something is quite plainly a good idea, the other parties want to look different, and don't want to be accused of copying policies. So instead they'll come up with some argument for the sake of arguing or come up with a way to turn it back on the party that suggested it ("well why hasn't this been done already"/"you didn't do this last time!") All parties are guilty of this - more concerned with their image than actually doing what's best for the country

"you never hear the parties agree with each other" Yes you do. Look at most of the laws around covid, for a recent example. Agreements aren't in the news as much, simply because "Pretty much everyone agrees that we should do X" is all there is to say about it, so it doesn't take up much time.

Conway79 the returning officer is the person that announces the election results. They have the word “returning” in their name so the comedian has taken that literally and made him “return” in two different jokes. Hope this helps
