We love our Sphynx cats! Our eldest lived to be 20! We currently have an 18 year old. They are super intelligent and more like dogs. We keep our on a strict diet using Instinct dry and wet foods. We never feed anything for humans, ever. They drink filtered water with PetLab added for teeth health. They are the best cats for us! We love to spoil them!❤❤❤

I found that Instinct has really gone downhill in quality over the past two years or so. I had my cats on it for YEARS and they suddenly decided it was the ick. Some bags looked and smelled different or were mostly crumbs/air. Reading reviews found it wasn't just me! It started happening at the same time my dogs food also went down in quality. His had specifically smaller kibble for seniors with few/no teeth, but I would find these random bits of kibble from other food formulas. Now I'm trying stuff from countries with higher pet food standards.

@@ApophisD It depends on if its a boy or girl, how old they are, and how active they are. We only bathe ours once a month. I would not do more than once a week... even see if you can stretch it out to two. Maybe do a belly rub with warm washcloth in between. We do that with ours on the neck in between baths if she gets dirty. Also- make sure they get rinsed super well so all the soap gets off- that can attract dirt.

I've owned four different breeds of cats, and the Sphynx is the BEST!! If you can afford the price, they are worth it! We had two. One was beautiful, and the other one was smart! Both were very vocal and affectionate. Super snugglers.

We have had two. Both were retired breeders which were a third of the price. If you really want one, find some breeders near you and let them know you are available if they ever have to rehome one.

Thank you for your very informative video. All interesting for comparing various cat breeds. We had a Persian cat and she was beautiful. When she passed away, she was nearly 21 yo. We now have a Bengal kitten who's is 6 months of age. All my cats have distinct personalities.

I just got a Sphinx cat. We name him Dobby. He loves to cuddle and be with us, but he has a little mischievous streak as well. They seem to be very talkative as well. I don't know why we waited so long to get a Sphinx. He is a lot of fun and we love him very much! He is definitely worth the extra grooming we have to do.

I’m Sphynx parent too, definitely agree with how they are better with a companion. I had my girl first and she was so playful she was forever chasing my feet. I brought home her brother a year later (same parents, different litter). It didn’t take them long to get on and now the play together and I don’t have my feet attacked anymore. They are so loving and make great family pets.

For those interested in the breed but can't afford a kitten, consider a rehomed adult. They can be a third of the cost if not lower. We have had two retired breeders and they were super wonderful! Contact some breeders near you and let them know to contact you if they ever need to rehome a cat.

All 3 of my sphynxes are rehomed cats. I'm honestly fed up with people telling me "You shouldn't buy a cat, but adopt one." Well, all 3 of mine are adopted, all 3 were "throwaway" cats. Just because it is a purebred, and a special one to boot, doesn't mean they never end up abandoned or passed around. All came to me around one year old (which is when they are hyper active and need a lot of care -- and people find it's too much for them, and get rid of them.) and now they are 10, and 9 respectively. But yes, they are the best cats. :)

The more more you bath them the more oilier they become. Mine has never showered since I got him over a year ago and I wipe him twice a week with 100% waterbase and parfumless as he's never oily nor stain on any of my fabrics. His ears are perfectly clean and I just wipe on the outer sides of his ear flap only. The vet doesn't reccomend bathing either.

Reminds me of ET in the movie "E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial" Maybe these aren't cats at all, but are morphed "ET's" put here to study us humans and our behavior. Indeed, these types of cats are a very special breed and it takes a dedicated owner to enjoy and care for them, but it looks like they return the favor and are affectionate. I think I'll stick with my 16lb Chartreux, "Sammy". He's a calm, easy traveler in the car & motorhome and follows me everywhere. I do have to brush him every month or so though, as shedding can sometimes get out of hand, especially in the springtime, but he enjoys it. I just have to watch him when we're outside so that he doesn't "go after" the squirrels, rabbits and birds. He is a mighty hunter and I have to keep an eye on him in that respect. We do not have any mice or rats on our 5 ac. property though. Believe it or not, he is "whistle trained" and will stop and come to me after a quick, light double "tweet-tweet" of the sports whistle when we're in the yard. (he knows there's a treat for him, a dried sardine) I just love him so much! Cats are such interesting "pets". I say that in quotes because sometimes it feels like I'm the one being trained by my cat and he sees me as HIS pet!

After learning the anatomy and physiology of cats i can only say it is unethical. But not becasse the animal cannot thermoregulate (and potentially feels cold) . They are missing all types of hair, including whiskers and other similar hair (medical term Vibrissae) that are connected to sensory nerves (tactile sense). These hair help a cat (and many animals that have them) as part of their sensory system. They allow a cat to gather information about its environment through touch, an important tool in understanding the world. They are important for communication with other cats! Although sense of touch is mainly through the skin, as you may know whiskers, being long as they usually are, protect a cat’s eyes, mouth and feet… Breeding an animal because of its looks without having the best interest for the animal in mind is not ethical.

Hi I would say that most cats would not scratch and bite you if you have a good relationship with them. But they can scratch your furniture or bite others. Hope that helps! But most of the time no.

It depends what you call scratch and bite. Cats and especially kittens like to scratch and bite you when you're playing with them. But you can use toys if you want to avoid this. Some cats will scratch and bite if you touch their belly too much. When they trust you they can bite you in a soft and non agressive way to show you they love you. They like to bite your nose. Cats will never scratch or bite you badly even if they're scared of you. They'll just stay away from you of roar if you insist. The only time they can scratch you aggressively it's in case you forcefully take them in your arms when they don't want to or cause pain to them. An agressive cat is a really scared cat that feels endangered. I'd say you have more chance to be badly bitten by a rabbit aha, because they are more anxious and way less able to protect themselves.

Pretty much any cat will hurt smaller animals. They hunt, both for food and for fun, and they need to be kept away from both smaller pets and creatures outside. Especially don't have cats ANYWHERE near reptiles because cat saliva is toxic to reptiles and amphibians. So even being in contact with the cat's recently-licked fur could be deadly.

You should just find good responsible breeders and verify if they're really trustworthy by checking if their house is well cleaned and the cats look clean and healthy . Trust your gut feeling sometimes, like i did
