I like to feign ignorance and ask them questions I already know the answer to-just basic features on the vehicle I’m shopping and have learned about watching videos like yours and am amazed when they don’t even know the basic features of one of the 5-10 products they represent.

I made the mistake by telling the used car dealership that I didn’t want my payment over $400. BIG MISTAKE. You were right Dave

I'm in car salesman at the local Honda dealership for 23 years,, when customers open up to me that's when I give them the best Deal possible.. when they try to hide stuff from me I'll treat them exactly the way they're treating me, I absolutely hate liars. Just about all of the car salesman(if not all) that I know personally will not even deal with them and we know who they are.. more or less if you lie to a car something or hide a trade or anything like that, you are getting the worst deal you can possibly. By the way most of the customers make real good money like doctors usually have bad credit that I had.

Went to a GM lot and the first thing the salesman asked is where I worked and what I did. I made the mistake of telling him as I was looking at a traverse. He became pushy and tried to steer me to a Cadillac XT5. I told him I’m not interested. I’ve got two young messy kids and the caddy just looked out of place for us. He kept pushing so we just left.

Better yet, don't buy from dealerships. Best car buying experiences I have had are buying my Teslas. I hope more manufactures do direct sales.

I've got another one; Can you show me the extended warranty? The moment those words come out of your mouth, you'll have all the other offers on the car piled up.

As a car salesman. Please don’t withhold information. A lot of this advice a lot of the time hurts more than it helps. I’ve had numerous times where we couldn’t truly help cause we didn’t have the actual information

From my experience we have come to the point where nearly all car salesmen are dishonest. But I'd still prefer them over dealers since they have gone over to plain right scamming people nowadays. I rather buy my used car from a private person since that gives you the biggest chance to bump in to someone that IS honest.

The last time I walked in a dealer to buy a car for myself: My friend said: ooh this looks cute and would fit you. Dealer: I can make a deal Me: The car is ugly, and who said I want this. The boot is small at 170Ltrs, engine is a 4 cylinder, this is the Cc's, the power, and torque. (Walked to the back of the car) Oh, it's this model, so standard features are this, (rambled everything off). Fuel economy is this and the safety rating of the car is that. And I don't like these skinny tyres without grip on the car. Brah, why you want me to buy this fugly car? Friend: Because your current car is small too. Me: Boy, what can the salesman tell me about this car, or any of the cars on the lot I don't know or can't figure out? What did I miss, fuel tank that size, fuel range is that. (Opened the bonnet). No, please no, the engine compartment is so small and a basic service needs specialist tools just to get to the spark plugs. Why, would I do this to myself. Babez, the only thing he can do is attempt to sell it to me, but even though I'm looking for a car, I have one, that I can work on myself, and is paid off since the day I got it. I don't have the cash in full for a car, and this monthly payments are scaring me just as much as the unorganized engine compartment. He might convince me, with truth, but can't I get a classic car rather, this new soft bodied cars are cool to a degree, but doesn't have soul. Okay, salesman, attempt this sale. If you suck at this, I won't return for any deal, as I need to think about it. Salesman: Seeing that you indecisive, I'll leave. Other customer walks in. Daughter is nagging the father for a car, because she just got her license. Me:. Sweety, make a list of must haves, and what isn't essential. Then do your homework. Girl: Well, it's for me to drive to tech and home. Should be safe and small. And I passed out on something like this. She rambles off specs she needs. Basic youngster need, car, driving, sound system but daddy will upgrade it, and daddy should sign off on it. (Salesman starts with her, and trying to convince her she needs the car I was looking at). (She grabs my hand and goes) What should I do? This car looks cute to me. Me: Take it for a test drive, and you could put it on your shortlist. Don't go for the first thing you see, there might be a better deal around the corner, with a few things not like you want it, but reliable, safe and appropriate for your daily needs. Look at your daily needs, not that once a year trip, because your family might all be together, and someone a bigger car to take all your extra luggage. If the car feels to small to make you comfortable next to larger vehicles. Here is my number if you want it. Send me the requirements, in must have, nice to have, and can't deal with that. I'll send you a list of 5-10 vehicles with pictures to take test drives in. Father: How can you trust a girl Me: You got out of that vehicle. (Tell him everything of his vehicle plus the faults he could've gotten, as the normal faults, and how much the repairs had to cost. My friend starts laughing: You emasculating this man. Me: Girl + car knowledge= power house not to be messed with. And by the look on his face, he had these faults out of warranty and was actually looking for a daily for himself, not his daughter. And his eyes were focused on that 7 seater, question is, which engine and fuel type. According to that car, he is looking at the diesel, and good choice if you changing the car in 3-5 years, because engine problems on that model will be giving him a headache. The petrol version is 40% heavier on fuel, but reliability is up by 60%, and price is cheaper by 20%, then again, the repairs required are less and not as big, and should on a calculated distance of 20k km, save him around 7.5% in cost even with a heavy foot. I might be in this career, but my passions just had to astound you. As the mechanic if I'm right or wrong. Father asks mechanic, and takes my nr as I'm on point.
