Does Amazon sell new cars? The site doesn't allow Amazon customers anything near one-click shopping to buy a car, and isn't likely to anytime soon. Multiple states have franchise laws to protect car dealerships, which have made it difficult for auto makers to sell directly to consumers, or in some cases to do online sales.

Amen to that. Wish there was a way to get people to stop paying ADMs and force dealerships to sit on their inventory until they're forced to sell at MSRP. But like they say: "there's always a fool willing to part with their money".

I was in the back office with the finance manager for about 4+ hours "playing the game" going over every single product multiple times in variations, having Uber Eats delivered to me in the office, only to eventually say no to all the products and then have them compete with the very low interest rate from my credit union. After signing I thanked them for their time -- and added "I hope that extra time spent with me saved at least two or three families from their predatory practices." The look on his face -- priceless.

I recently went in to a GM dealership, in NM, and almost "word for word" this happened. They did not back down on there $2800 addendum (the best offer was a $250 discount) , so I called the other dealership in town and asked them if they would charge me for something I did not want. Sure enough, he told me to come by and I received the MSRP price. Appriciate this channel so much!!! This is going to be my first vehicle I puchaced from a dealer, and I felt like I knew what I was doing.

Same happened to me! They told me no market adjustment then when we started talking prices they said oh we have a 1995 clear coat protector and a 995 dealer fee. I was like so you basically have a 3000 dollar market adjustment lol. He said it’s non negotiable, and when I said your price on the vehicle doesn’t reflect any of this, he got very disrespectful and told me they don’t have to and he’s there to make money blah blah blah. I said we’re done here and walked away. Car salesman are the worst!! FYI don’t ever go to Hyundai in new port richey Florida

Ballsy pro move: Call the second dealership from the first dealer’s office. When the salesperson heads off to talk to the manager is a great time to make the call. Let him hear you negotiating with his competitor when he wanders back to his desk. “Nothing personal, it’s just business. I’m just here for the car I want, and will go with whoever can give me what I need at the best out-the-door price.”

I'm car shopping this weekend-just to get a feel for how much bullshit is out there. My plan is to politely explain what I need and what my expectations are for the dealership. If they are unwilling to work with me then my plan is to take a deep breath and kindly explain that there is no sense in wasting each others time, thank him for his time and walk away. Of course, I haven't watched these videos yet so my whole plan may change

After you've given them the "are you absolutely sure you can't do X?" get your keys out of your pocket, play with them a bit in your hands, and say something to the effect of "well, it's a shame we couldn't come to a deal today. Please do not move forward with this order/sale. If you change your mind feel free to give me a call" and start to walk out. More often than not they will either stop you before you walk out or give you a call later that day with the terms you're looking for. IMO always better to go a polite route rather than getting angry, calling them crooks, etc. After all, it's a business where they're trying to sell a product and you're trying to buy a product. No need to get personal, and there are other businesses out there selling the same product.

Easiest thing to do is to simply walk in at the end of the month, hand them a post it that has your "upto" numbers written down. Say you realize their time is valuable and if they are able to meet those numbers, they have a sale. Best to do it in person, not over txt or email. Walk in holding your checkbook. I've leased / bought my last 4 cars this way and its they easiest way to handle it. Sometimes they just say they can't, and you have to be willing to thank them and say "call me when you can", IF they can. Leased my wife's RX350 this way most recently - when they came back with their sheet, we were 150 a month apart on monthly cost. Said they couldn't possibly come close to my number. Said ok, walked away respectfully. Within 72 hours they met my numbers without me having to set another foot in the door. Simple and easy.

Love the videos ! My husband and I just ordered our first commercial vehicle. The sales man discussed a 5k addendum and he claimed it was a manufacturer addendum which was required because it’s a special order and a chip shortage. He automatically discounted the 5k to 3k and I requested a written addendum of what he verbally communicated to us. He couldn’t find it so he decided to remove the entire 5k and keep it moving 😜. On top of that I got the sale manager to honor the msrp at time of build with a refundable deposit ! Thank you guys

This is amazing, thanks for the work you do. Last year I bought an 2021 Subaru Outback limited XT, the MSRP was 40k, by sending some emails I got the price nailed down to 35.400, so I said ok. All went smoothly until the guy in the finance office, not only tried to add an entire year for the loan (I offered 25k in cash, then the rest financed) he used the APR trick of "Look your APR should be 5.9% but if you add the pain protection and the 3 years of services paid in advance I can give you 2.9%". The history ends with 5 hours of discussion, I left the dealership, sell lady goes after me, more back and forth and by night time, going home with the wagon in 37k total cost, 25k down and the rest (remaining balance and fees) financed 36M at 0% APR... Will never ever buy another car from them, and many family members, coworkers and friends either. Is criminal what they try to do, luckily I'm 6"2' and 265 pounds with an attitude so I was able to "push back" easier maybe, don't know, but never again. My second car will be something fun from Craigslist. Thanks again and sorry the lengthy comment.

@@supraslug3948 I don't have a method itself, I'm from Uruguay, and there the cars only got 1 price, you can negotiate a discount if you pay cash, and because there's no car dealerships, just the brand local franchise, they work directly with banks, so you have 0 APR with certain banks and certain brands. Car buying is a breeze if not that the cars are crazy expensive and sub par equipped. So I got there knowing that I had a credit score between 770 and 800 (varying FICO from banks, credit cards, etc) and I knew that Subaru was giving 0 APR to 2.9 (or something like that) from announcements. My credit score was enough for 0 APR so to get to the finance office and find out that the APR was 5.9% for 48 months (not the 36 months I agree with the sales lady 5 min before) was a wake up, "this guy is a piece of s#1t" call. Then it was about not giving up on anything, not making them any favors, I had the money and the intention, Subaru Outbacks are volume sales cars so they can loosen up a little, if they care about the sale they had to give up on my terms. Be rough but polite, firm but have a laugh, look at them to the eyes and make yourself heard, they are not your friends neither you own them anything, look after for yourself and you interests, they will surely gain enough money stealing from someone else to cover whatever "loses" (of course they never loose money) they may have with you.

There were two key points missing from this skit. When you order a Dodge/Chrysler product the price to the dealer is locked in by the manufacturer at the time the order number is generated by the manufacturer. The order number is generated one to two days after the dealer enters the order into the system. Because of this, you should never agree to paying any price increases the manufacturer may enact. Also, Zach could have purchased the vehicle for 1% below the invoice price by simply joining the Dodge/Chrysler Affiliate program. If his employer is not eligible he can simply join Tread Lightly for $100 and save well over $1000 on his purchase.

It would be really uncool to have to get 2 separate hits on your credit. No one should agree to that because like you said, with the car shortage, if you can't buy the vehicle, someone else will. So they can just wait to run your credit until after it comes in.

I went to a local Chevy dealer in between Christmas and New years Day. Ordered a Tahoe High County at MSRP. I got an order code that day and once the dealership was able to place the order I was able to track the order through the Chevy website. The dealer agreed to no add-ons and this was the case at delivery. The dealer did not take a deposit at the time of order and did not ask for a credit app to be filled out. (a different dealer was wanting me to complete, I walked) I did pay a deposit after the vehicle was produced and before it was delivered. The general manager told me that we would have the first right of refusal and he knew that he would sell it in a short period of time if I did not end up buying the Tahoe. I took delivery two weeks after production and two months sooner than I had hoped to get it. Great experience ordering and buying from this dealership.

Why do we still need to go through this painful process? Dealers refused to remove the BS 'packages' they add to vehicles, even before it even was in transit, simply claiming that that's their profit. In reality, a $1000 package was worth around $200 of stuff not everyone wants and the manufacturer's website list as accessories.

As a Consumer Credit Analyst this is a great piece of education. I would say all items are negotiable. All additions to your vehicle whether that is GAP to warranties or even protection add ons are all negotiable and you can always inquire about their cost. The other thing is shop around there are plenty of dealers who refuse to do dealer markups as they know that coming time to trade in the values of the vehicle will be much lower resulting in large negative equity. Creating a loss of customer retention as customers will feel scammed. Always do your research :)

Great info guys. I'm currently on a hunt to find a fully loaded Ford Raptor at $87,505 MSRP. All dealerships in Oklahoma are charging $12-20k ADMs. I thought I found a dealership down in Texas that was selling at MSRP due to how they posted their Raptor listing online. I reached out to said dealership for info on one of the Raptors and a sales associate said it was already pre-sold and I could place a "Special Order" through them and save a lot of money. I asked the SA what's the next step. He responded back stating he confirmed with his Desk Manager they had 1 allocation available. He then told me this: The 35 inch tire package goes for $12k above your build price and the 37 inch tire package goes 17k over your build price due to it being a specialty vehicle from ford with very limited availability. So much for saving me money. Dealerships just make me sick when they do this. I just want to purchase directly from the factory and cut out the middle man. I've been saving money for quite awhile and have the cash on hand to purchase the vehicle out right. But I'm not willing to pay $104,504 for a truck that costs $87,505 MSRP. Sorry for the long rant. Just disappointed in the current sales climate. I have noticed quite a few dealerships having Raptors in their inventory for over 100+ days just to get the asking ADM. I have a feeling these ADMs are going to bite them in the ass very soon as the economy continues to worsen and food shortages start to appear. We'll see. In the meantime, my quest to purchase a Raptor at MSRP continues!

In terms of the credit check for ordering, an individual is allowed to check their own credit without a negative impact to their score. Arrive at the dealership with a current copy of your credit history. I've never had a dealership ask for more than that. It gives you one more opportunity to deflect the tricks and stall tactics the dealership uses to wear down a customer's resolve.

I had this kind of conversation last week, I ended up compromising on window tinting since I was gonna do that anyway and managed to take all the other crap away. Man dealers love to push the plastic BS guards real hard, the way I got them to drop that was "how much am I gonna spend to remove that? " The way I got around the credit thing was doing a prequalification with Chase (which they were ok with) and no dings to my credit until the car arrives.

Great video! I just ordered a new Ram 1500 a few weeks ago. I emailed a few dealers within 200 miles and one responded that they would give me a price under MSRP. Their doc fee is “only” $175 so I ordered the truck at a few thousand below MSRP and they didn’t try any add-ons (at least not yet). Other than asking to run my credit which I declined to let them do, they have been great. Hopefully no games once the truck arrives. Let’s see…

One of my first jobs out of high school was a salesmen for Dodge Chrysler and this is pretty spot on. Don't even step on the lot unless you have a sizable down payment and 700+ credit or eith cash in hand. And never go there with an upside down trade in. Be as irresistible of a sale as possible and go in looking to buy at the end of the month/year. You also maybeamt to go to an area that normally doesn't see high end clientele.

Hey guys, more recent subscriber here, but I just wanted to thank you for everything you do. Through watching your videos and despite current markets, I have factory ordered a new Mustang mostly for selfish reasons but also for extremely sentimental reasons. My first real car was a used 1995 Mustang and my father loved that car. He passed away from cancer last year and have decided to use a portion of my estate money on this purchase. I have been documenting my process with the dealer, and so far, they have been AMAZING. They were up front and said they ONLY sell their vehicles at MSRP and even ASKED me if I wanted any dealer accessories instead of just automatically trying to sell me them on my factory order. I ordered my Mustang mid march, received a confirmation from Ford 3 days later with a projected build date of May 9th. It has since been pushed back to May 24th, but will certainly keep you guys apprised on your website of how long it will actually take and how the whole experience goes. Thank you again for all your expertise. It has made this process a breeze so far. -Steve

@@deebo1292 Ended up buying a different GT with minimal differences to my factory order a week ago. Dealership was pretty firm on pricing, but they were selling vehicles at MSRP with no market price adjustment. minimal dealer added xtras ($1700) in total. and despite being pretty firm on price on a car that's been on the lot for almost 4 months (which I used YAA's "days on lot" feature to check), I did get around $1000 above trade in value on my existing car, thanks also to YAA and their black book feature. All in all, I bought the car for MSRP. And still saved 3k aside from my factory order. It's not a huge win, but a win none the less.

Definitely make sure you shop around especially in this day and age with the internet. Also helpful to join forums of the vehicle you are buying. There are often standout dealerships doing under msrp and the forums will point them out. I live in MA and tried ordering a Ram and couldn’t find a deal. Emailed a dealership in VA which I found on the forum. Ordered a loaded limited for 8k under MSRP and no deposit. It’s a bit of a drive but the savings is worth it.

It sounds like people have had different experiences. My dad taught us kids to factory order all of our vehicles since the 80's (except obviously leases) and my last purchase was a Silverado that I factory ordered. The salesman took the order and I had to help him navigate his computer order screen. He didn't ask for a credit check and I asked him if he needed a down payment, he responded "No, not at all. This is going to be a beautiful truck and I could sell it in two days if you don't want to pick it up." I have to admit though, salespeople have become more pleasant than they used to be 30 years ago. I remember how they would jump on you as soon as you stepped out of your car at the stealership. When I was 15 years old I went with my brother as he factory ordered a 1983 Trans Am. The salesman was actually berating my brother as he was ordering the car telling him that his finance department would not allow someone his age to finance the car despite him putting down 50%. I actually got so mad that I yelled at the salesman that my brother has a really good paying job and that he can buy the car for cash but is just financing it to improve his credit to buy a house in the future. We started to get up to leave before the salesman settled down and took the order. When my brother picked up his new factory car it already had 22 miles on the odometer and the salesman said that the car is fun to drive.

Good video, thanks. My answer to "subject to price changes" would be I don't think so. Before starting this process you should be asking the dealer if they have an allocation. Then you agree on the price like you did if they do. Then you get that price in writing because they should be ordering it that day with their allocation. The first update you get from the salesman is the order and order accepted. If they don't have an allocation you go the the larger dealer or the one that has an allocation to order right away.
@DonWhites
@DonWhites Жыл бұрын
I can't speak to other Brands but Chrysler Jeep Dodge and Ram dealerships do not have to have allocation to factory order a sold vehicle. Also, when you order the vehicle it should be price protected, meaning if factory increases cost of vehicle, your sold order will not be affected. Now if you back out, the vehicle will immediately jump to new price. Also, you can lock in any factory incentives when you purchase it. When you take delivery you can choose between new incentives or those that locked in during order process. Most of our monthly new vehicle sales are sold order units.

If you order from the bigger dealer you end up fucking your local dealer. Small town people going to city dealerships just takes money out of your community. Keep shopping local. As for factory price increases the price isn't locked by the dealership its locked by manufacturer. So if there's a price increase and the manufacturer isn't locking prices then the dealership gets fucked over. Again support your local. And I've not seen a less professional interaction than in this video. For being set up to educate and help the consumer to purchase a new car you're just making people walk into dealerships like ill informed idiots.

Outstanding video. I was in the car business for 20+ years. Two years ago I drove an hour from home to purchase a used Chev Express van for our family business. I verified the price on the phone in advance. When I arrived to make the purchase, I noticed a dealer addendum with an anti-theft system, paint sealant, door edge guards totaling $3000. Long story short, I walked to the sales tower, had a chat with the GSM and he apologized profusely and told me that the owner wouldn’t allow him to budge on the $3000. He was legitimately embarrassed. I wrote a Yelp review and said good things about the salesman and GSM but slammed the bait & switch owner. The store has horrible reviews on all online platforms. I should have researched their credibility before going. I ended up buying the same van locally from a dealer that went out and found me a similar vehicle and saved $4000. I

Ordering a vehicle puts the buyer at a severe disadvantage when a trade is involved. First, depending on how long it takes for the vehicle to arrive, you never know what your trade is. Really going to be worth, especially in these times. Times. But then the dealer can just lowball your trade and you have to take it or they get a new vehicle to sell with a markup above MSRP to another buyer. It's that or sell it yourself and miss out on the tax break, but who knows if you could time those two transactions right, meaning the sale of your vehicle and the delivery of your new vehicle. Love to hear your thoughts or ideas on combating that issue. I've always been really good at getting what my vehicle is worth, but now I'm not sure if it's possible when ordering a vehicle. You are at their mercy.

I used to sell cars back in the 1970s and things have not really changed that much. I did a factory order in 2018, preceded by sending RFQs (request for quotation) to the local dealers for a specific build, asking for the OTD (out the door) price. By knowing the OTD, it really did not matter what or where they tacked on charges as my dealer selection was based on my final cost. It was the smoothest auto transaction I've experienced and when their closer tried for add-ons, I simply said, "Sure, that's okay as long as it does not alter the agreed-upon OTD price."
