My first guy had horrible SA, and that progressed to other anxiety issues, like a really bad sound phobia. After a year of struggling with meds, he's much better on prozac. I want to get another but the first pup just about killed me. lol

The breeder of my son's Whippet {1990's} kept a female to Show, and she was very ''Naughty'' ..She was feisty from the word go, and just didn't live peaceably with the other Whippets. {Found out later that the sire Ch. 'Nimrodel Eagle Wings' could be a little feisty, too! {with other males} In the end, her owner gave her to a neighbour in the same village, at 2 yrs old. 'Mouse' became a different Whippet! Much calmer, much more peaceful. She LOVED being 'Queen' with no one else to challenge her..she behaved beautifully, and was much happier living as an 'Only' girl with her new owner, than with her original breeder and her pack of girls.

Some really are happier in a family as an only dog. I know a few others with similar stories. And that could be genetic, but sometimes it's due to trauma or bad experience (ah, these sensitive snowflakes).

@@ShowPaws Isn't that interesting... Whippets most definitely recognise other Whippets as you say in the video..''I have found my Tribe!'' Whippets really are sensitive snowflakes.. They do like Italian Greyhounds as well. ''Oh look! a tiny version of me!''

Another great video, Adriana! And a great reminder to me to slow down in my thinking about a second Whippet. I love our guy so much, but he is 10 months old now and SUCH a handful with so many naughty habits! Barking at the neighbours, playing too roughly with his Golden Retriever brother, stealing things off the counter tops. I have a lot more training to do with him so that when we do get a second Whippet, he will not have all these bad behaviours to teach to a new puppy! Love your videos and your dogs! Thanks again!

Commenting for the second time on your channel! Awesome video! I started with one Italian Greyhound and the separation anxiety was unbearable. Getting a second Italian Greyhound was the best decision I’ve made in a long time.

You're really amazing, thank you for giving such good advices 😘 I noticed too that sighthounds have a very special way to greed other dogs. "Normal" dogs first smell one another after a cautious approch, and then, if ok, they will play. Sighthounds run to the other dog.. and make presentations after 😵‍💫 Amongst sighthounds it's all but normal, but it's consired rude by most of the dogs of other breeds.. I always tell myslef that it's a bliss they also run much faster as other breeds🤞🥴

I got a second whippet after a year and no regrets. But all advice about behavior, separation anxiety, having the house in full agreement for the second and a meet and greet beforehand is true. I am so happy to have a second one, was a very good decision. Two different personalities but the have so much in common that now they are inseparable to the extend that now I have "monkey see, monkey do" couple.

Hi Addie ❤...great info..we considered another whippet..how could you not! We are in our 50's n do a alittle bit of travel,camping, boating and we realised with two it would be alittle more difficult. So Winx is living his best life with us his Mum and Dad as he knows us..and we love sharing and living life with him ❤😊xxxxxxxx

At least it shouldn't be! Unfortunately there are mindless people who don't make these considerations at all. My now deceased Diva was a victim of that kind of people. She was whippet no 1 and then 'chosen away' bc of the new puppy. @@ShowPaws

Hi, fist i want to say how much i love your videos !! We're thinking of getting a second whippet, because our girl can sometimes get lonely and bored, she's very social, and even though we're seeing a lot of whippet friends, we believe a sister would be great for her. The only thing i'm worried about is that although she's a very good girl, she's very spoiled and can sometimes get jealous, and she loves to play rough (she's a tiny one, so she's feisty). Any advice for jealousy issues ?

I'm very happy you enjoy the videos 💗 I understand your concern. With a large pack here, that's also something we are cautious about with every next whippet. You have to show both they get an equal amount of love and attention, especially when the new addition arrives and you're automatically more focused on them. I could make a whole video on this topic. Once Erys began to mature, being my velcro dog, decided it's no fun if I give her sisters attention without her being invited, so she once ran over and tried to push herself in the middle of me cuddling one of her sisters. I immediately redirected her to go sit on a chair and wait. Once I was done giving attention to her sister, I called her for attention. I was gentle, but clear this is not acceptable and it was her first and last try. If we give love to one of them, we then go around and do the same with everyone else who is in the same room. And they all know there's no need to be jealous, as they won't be left behind. Sometimes they all come for some love together and we give cuddles to all. With 8 whippets in the house, jealousy is a huge no and they know it. About the rough playing, she might get a sister that will show her who's boss 🙈 Or teach her how to play properly. All of mine like different games and they all know everyone else's limits, what they can and cannot do with each other. If I don't approve of their game and want to de-escalate, I hand them a toy. Just like I did with Erys and Ivy around the end of the video. It's a process and doesn't happen overnight, so you have to show them the boundaries and the rules. And more often than not, all goes easier than expected. 😊

@@ShowPaws When we first got two dogs {18 months apart in age}, the new Whippet puppy was supposed to be 'my ' new dog....but he bonded from Day one with my son. It worked out well as the existing dog was definitely ''Mine'' and so each dog in the family had their 'person', so there wasn't jealousy ..I was very careful with feeding to always feed the older dog first. There was never a cross word or growl between them for 12 yrs.
