Popo, I can't thank you enough for this video. I had my eye on many products for 4 years or so and saving for the MPC X. Still need a half a stack or so to buy it. Lately , I've been getting board and looking at other products and thinking of alterative set ups but I'm a perfectionist to a fault. Decision making for me leads to repetitive overthinking about my goal for acquiring the MPC X. You and others who stand by the X helps me not go off the handle and buy some things I'll never use more than 1 or 2 times. I'm sticking it out until I can afford it! I understand why others may feel different about it but, you get what u pay for they say . Seeing the torn down one made me happy to know I'm getting some serious shizzy! Thanks again. Piece-Out!

Your feelings about the MPC X has convinced me to purchase one. I have had a studio since the early 80's. Life interrupted my music. I came back after 30+ years to a lot of changes. I was using an Atari ST with original Dr T and Steinberg software. I still have all my old stuff except traded one synth for a Korg Kronos. Great workstation but the learning curve is insane. Wanted something that could tie all my old keyboards and drum machines together and almost bought the Akai Force, but after reading the manual realized it wasn't going to do what I needed it to. Wasn't sure if I could justify the cost of an MPC X, but research only tells you so much.... it comes down to people. Do MPC X users "like" the machine? Does it have an easy workflow? You answered these questions.... questions no other reviewer has done. Thank you.

I’m unsure which way to go. Which would you recommend for a beginner? Thank you in advance.

I had the MPC live but I had to get the MPC X if I had to do it all over again although the MPC live has that battery life and all it's a lot easier to navigate and get all the features you looking forward to the x. However that being said the Akai Force seems to be more lean towards DJ but the MPC X can do it just as good if not better.The MPC live does exactly what the MPC X does there's just a little menu diving that you have to get used to if you're a DJ and on-the-go the live might be better for you.

I still use Ableton to edit, polish, and mix the mostly finished MPC beat. But 85-90% of the beat is completed on the MPC. Maybe I’ll upgrade in two years but I don’t know yet. I agree with you though, anyone coming in with no other gear could produce hits on an MPC alone, especially now that there are VSTs in stand alone mode.

Can you make patterns and then put them together as as song or do you have to work with a whole song in in like clips on the mpc?
@PoliPopo6 жыл бұрын
Yes you can make and arrange sequences to song. Here is a video I made on taking one sequence to a song on the mpc x. kzbin.info/www/bejne/in66YWeeoMaLoa8

I used machine and I liked it and had to dual screens and everything was really cool I just couldn't get past the first scene and how to stretch it into a song on the MPC X I can just copy scenes as many times that I want and mute out certain parts per sequence allows me to work faster

I bought a live 4 weeks ago and Im absolutely in love with it. Now im considering getting an X as well because of the extra knobs.... thanks for sharing. How do you handle autosampling arps or sequences? Would that work or is that not working because its always tight to the current bpm you set when autosampling?
@Curious_Skeptic6 жыл бұрын
My head spins with all the options out there! I sold off my hardware synth collection (way too much stuff that never got used), and just bought into Maschine MK3, Jam & S88 MK2 (all new). Hardly got to try it out yet. I second guess myself all the time. Akai MPC X has been on the radar, as it gives you Maschine environment without the laptop. Except, if you aren't a hip hop or 'BEAT' maker, it seems limited. Hard to beat the creativity of a hardware synth to adjust all those knobs and sliders in real time. I'm hoping I can get my head around all the new gear out there and find something that will inspire and still be fun to work with. Nice video and good points on the Akai MPC X. Nice looking unit. Just have to keep researching on my own to figure out what is the best solution.
@PoliPopo6 жыл бұрын
Hey I appreciate you watching and leaving a comment I made a video not too long ago talking about how the MPC isn't just for hip hop anymore you can make any genre of music with this thing I'm pretty sure it just saves me a lot of space in my studio I consolidated and I bought the X I'm never looking back I do have some newer gear 2 but isn't necessary the X does it all for me.
@Curious_Skeptic6 жыл бұрын
@@PoliPopo I'm going to play around with Maschine/Jam for a bit, and see how that goes. I still have a few bucks on the side for another 'toy', and Akai MPC X might be it. The #1 feature I love is the Qlink Knobs with the little OLEDs. I believe the more organized the instrument surface, the more likely you can focus on creativity rather than menu diving and frustrations with DAW/Computer issues.

I have searched dozens of videos of this and the live version and I haven't found ANY video demonstrating how to actually make real music from it. There are plenty rhythms an drum beats but no actual real music. To me it's just a hip hop beat rythm maker but it's not used for making full arranged songs.

You are very good with information but not very entertaining... I love your videos but I never heard your music before. Your set up looks very excessive and intimidating in a dark room. Invest in some lighting. Change those things for more subscribers. For instance how about an intro track for your videos with a tag line in it. Also, you speak very clearly but very slow. Look alive... Keep up the good work though.. I am a good listener but most people have a visual learning style.
