Can you (have you) updated this for the updated FCPX audio tools like voice isolation and hum removal? It would seem that a "Beginner" audio tutorial would show how to take advantage of all of FCPX's built-in audio analysis tools, as well as the voice isolation tool (Graphic EQ's are a bit overwhelming for some beginners). Also, why do you use a compressor effect instead of the loudness check box? According to the Apple FCP documentation, loudness is a compressor of sorts.

Thank you! I learned a lot from you! One tip I've learned from mastering audio prior to coming to the video world - you can use a limiter to increase the volume instead of boosting the gain on tracks. This functions the same as increasing the gain, but it has a hard compressor at 0db, so you never go into the red. Cheers!

For all the amazing functionality FCP has, it really could benefit with a straight track mixer view. It's a lot easier to see what's going on in a mix when you see meters running for all the individual tracks. But maybe I'm too old-school :) Great video!

A good piece of advice is always use the same distance and settings on the microphone so once you find out a good set up for the effects in final cut, all you have to do is copy and paste for every video you do. Also, when I first started, I would use earbuds for the audio so I can really get a close listen but then I kind of chilled out and now I just use the computer speakers no problem because I’m not like making a TV show or movie over here, and most people are going to just be listening from their phones so it’s not really that big of a deal

Yes, another great way is to actually make a preset for the audio effects. I show how to do this in an upcoming tutorial we're posting!

Tips for background music: Yes it’s better to be too quiet than too loud BUT it’s still not great to be too quiet. SO once you publish a video, listen to it after KZbins compression a few times and watch it as a viewer not an editor, soaking in the info etc and see how it feels. Also ask feedback from viewers. I have thought my music was too loud before and I did a questionnaire not one way or the other I just said “How is the music volume? Too loud or quiet?” and surprisingly MOST people said it needed to be LOUDER and some said it needed to turn down. So, everyone’s different and every device is different that they are watching the video on. However, I learned that I needed to turn up the music volume. The interesting thing too is, I think having louder music can actually make for a LESS HARSH video. If you have low music, I think people may feel the need to turn the video UP to hear it, so then your voice sounds too loud. It’s all about balance. And what you’re doing in the video and what part of the video it is. During an intro, I like louder music. If we are reviewing a product then, I have it lower. Another tip is: The dB it says for your song isn’t necessarily the dB it plays at. If I get a song from Epidemic Sound, it’s accurate, but from other sources, it could vary. A -10dB track from Episdemic isn’t necessarily a -10dB track I got from KZbin. USE the dB reader on the right side to see where the music really peaks at, and adjust the level of each song clip so that the peaks are hitting the same dB to really make sure it sounds the same. OH ALSO even with THAT, one song may peak at -20dB and another also peak at -20dB but that doesn’t even mean they SOUND as loud. Don’t forget the BRAIN. What instruments are used? How fast? Does it match the video? If the song is not as busy or harsh, it may need to actually be louder dB than another song to come off as the same volume or intensity. Also depending on how loud your voice is at that part. Hope that makes sense! Bottom line you can’t just go off what the dB number says on the file.

I have found there have been times where I thought the music sounded fine but then I pull up the video on my phone and all I can hear is the voice. Because I think phones will like favor the voice, especially depending on what earbuds you use. So yeah I remember one time in particular I thought I had everything sounded perfect and I exported the video. I didn’t upload. But I watched the video again. And suddenly I was inspired. I went back and I slightly increased the volume of everything. Then I played it back and it just sounded perfect. Really was amazing how bringing up the music just seemed to really bring out my voice and really seemed to bring the video to the forefront

Can you please make a video on why Final Cut Pro X is 400$ worth it? What features make it stands out among others.
@ghost-user5592 жыл бұрын
It’s worth it if you plan on making content that you plan on showing to an audience. It is definitely worth it if you want to make professional quality content. It definitely isn’t worth it just to make videos for fun or for family. A lot of people on KZbin make a full time living, and so do wedding video makers, or professional gamers, or video podcasts etc. It’s totally worth it, but you have to use it enough and take it seriously to take advantage of that cost.

I'd rather expand the audio than detaching it. Expanded audio stays connected, detached is separate. So if you move your video, the audio does not follow along which can mess up your edit.
