I'm still on the fence on whether to upgrade to K14CE from 13CE is truly worth it. Slowly throughout the months I've purchased most of the new VST modules individually from NI. These same modules are now what's included in K14CE. I believe I'm only missing a few but I would've purchased them outright if they interested me. May I ask what made you take the plunge and upgrade for the 600.00USD (loyalty discount) to go to K14CE?

@@Bronwyn031 well, I had not bought any of the libraries/expansions/etc. that NI added to K14UCE vs K13U (except for Picked Nylon), so the $600 was worth it for me. These new additions (Prime Bass, Electric Mint, Electric Vintage, Piano Colors, Ignition Keys, Arkhis, Sequis, Lores, Choir-Omnia, Straylight, Playbox, Cremona Quarter, plus many Maschine expansions) made it a slam dunk, for ME. I would not presume to say whether it is right for another... it just depends on what somebody already has, what they need, how much value it brings to them, etc.

In addition to some old guitars and basses, already included in the previous library, now there is my FunkyBass, AcousticGuitar, the ClassicGuitar samples, and other stuff. Couple of really cool things to point out on K7 , Single instrument mode (no bank) so double clicking on the sound replaces the one before it doesn’t stack them by midi channel. And a real piggy which I actually asked for on the beta team, You can now suppress the dialogue which asks are you sure you want to replace an instrument every time!

Guy, I’ve been watching your videos since the beginning of the global pandemic. I just had to reach out and comment to say thank you. There are these deeply frustrating times where I feel I have little to no talent as I sit for hours producing nothing. Spinning my wheels and feeling like I’ve missed something. Watching videos where perhaps I learn some information but I come away not understanding why it seems so easy for these musicians. Feeling Overwhelmed I rage quit for a week until the NEED to make music is an itch I have to scratch. To get that high only the creative process sometimes graciously allows. I say thank you today because out of all the endless content I can consume around the subject I feel that you are the most honest relatable teacher. You inspire me to create with your genuine enthusiasm. I find you endearing as you don’t sand down your own rough edges for the sake of making a “perfect”video and commit to it flaws and all. It honestly makes me feel not so alone and provides much needed perspective along this musical journey I’ve embarked on for better or worse. Purchased K7, then realising that they are in fact not included in this set but are separate $199 and $399 instruments. Guy was just playing through Komplete 14. NI’s website clearly lists everything that is included in the Kontakt factory library, and Omnia and Ashlight are nowhere to be found. Personally, I always like to read through the website and sometimes even the manuals before I purchase stuff, especially stuff as expensive as this, so that I know what to and what not to expect

This looks like a superb upgrade. Can't wait! Not taking over the "Kontakt" VST namespace is a bummer though. I don't see any advantages in that. This year I already had lots of issues trying to render a 10 year old project that still used a couple Kontakt 3 instances. I managed to revive them on an older system and an older Cubase installation. It would be great if there was some kind of legacy mode that supported even older projects or if we could simply choose to take that namespace. Now I have to go back to all my unfinished/unrendered projects and replace these Kontakt instances which is a pain in the analog synth.

I do think the original vsl samples sound wonderful, and I have always felt the Kontakt factory choir was the jewel in the crown--but with the new Orchestral Tools content I really feel Kontakt 7 might be the only sample instrument I need to buy for a good long while! And I love the way Guy just belches out a nice uplifting piece of music in 20 minutes.

@@Bronwyn031 I was going to get BBC Spitfire core… But after downloading and hearing The discover version I changed my mind. The clarinets are out of tune or out of phase and sound horrible. The trumpets are horrible, after you play a note it lingers forever and not because of the room ambiance either. So unless Spitfire has cleaned all that up in core I'll stick with the instruments in Kontakt 7 By orchestral tools... even with the limited articulations…

The new Kontakt 7 browser interface is great, but let's face it, they knew we expected (due to surfaced rumours) that the actual VST interface would be scalable. It is not. This was a HUGE selling point for me, and I now feel cheated. I have a tendency to harbour grudges when this happens.

All they build is a mask on top of an insanely uncomfortable interface which you need magnifying glasses to use, and even then it is so ugly and unnecessary complicated that no one actually uses Kontakt to do their own samples. I am sure the developers have a direct coding system which allows them to program the patches through code and not with those tiny knobs.

@@BrofUJu I do the same thing, I have a lower-rez display just for Kontakt, which is workable, but it's nuts that we have to do this with a piece of software in this day and age just to make it usable. If this was just one VST that had its own few tens of presets i wouldn't bother too much, but it's the main host to hundreds of individual instruments that I use all the time.

I actually have the subscription for Native Access. I use it constantly and its worth the price of admission. If there are any struggling young composers out there, give it a try. The effects alone are worth it. Guy keep up the great work, though not enough Logic X (I get that elsewhere lolol).

I believe it's not technically hard for NI to completely replace KK software with Kontak7 so that my KK keyboard can directly interface with K7. Also, I don't think it's hard to build a script to automate the replacement of K6 with K7 in seconds. As an IT engineer for 17 yrs and used automation most of my life, I find it difficult to swallow the fact that in 2023 NI still can't figure these out.

I'm glad..ive been away for about 5 years .I've got albums worth of songs to finally make sound awesome ( a lot of them guitar based and can't play a chord on a real guitar) I've just got a powerful laptop I'll use for strictly music ..and my photography ..I haven't owned a bit of kontakt..and they've had plenty of time to suss it all out..without me . My Guy when you played the 16th triplet instead of 8th, one thing you could have done to make it into 8th real fast instead of playing it again is to stretch the section twice as long with the timing tool or whatever it's called. It would obviously become twice as long too :)

KONTAKT and KOMPLETE KONTROL sucks ! Ancient software with endless issues. Interface unreadable, not scalable, with major features missing. These two are the worst program for music production I have ever seen. KONTAKT HAS TO BE REBUILD FROM THE GROUND-UP !

The whole Komplete is useless except for Kontakt. MassiveX flopped and there's no EDM sound banks coming out for it... there was many thousands for Massive, now nothing for MassiveX The stuff that's actually useful in Komplete is just a few Kontakt libraries like Abbey Road Drums and Session Horns and West Africa and stuff like that. You don't need to install half a terabyte of garbage just to access those.

I just got Komplete 14 CE with new K7 and cannot share the same opinion on the "revamped" factory library. I know the old factory library by heart and nearly every patch of the new library is just the same old patch/sample with an updated interface (and improved) effects. To me this is lazy. Super disappointed.

Guy, as a fellow Cubase user, can you tell me what settings you use in Kontakt to get the best performance? I have constant issues with Kontakt 6 in Cubase 12 with a sample buffer of 128. It used to run 'ok' at 128 in earlier versions of Cubase, but in Cubase 12, it is not running well at all at lower sample buffers. Is Kontakt 7 significantly better optimized than Kontakt 6? It seems like it is mostly just a GUI update and an updated stock library. If so, that is really disappointing.

That new factory library is a really nice thing for those that cany afford Ultimate. Must say it sounds really good. Don't think they have actually upgraded the old ones for over a decade. Would like to see some indepth reviews of some of the new things. Seems they have upped many of the libraries in Ultimate, but that would propably be a big project. But when I see someone making a 4hour video on some Granular pad synth they loose me very fast. After the first 20 min it just seems like it's repeating itself. As always, nice video Guy. The melody somehow sounded familiar today .. Can you get a copy strike from your self ? j/k 😜

HELP PLEASE GUY OR ANYONE ? I am reinstalling my kontakt 13 ultimate that I bought on special on New Year's Day but installer 2.7.0 today is different and when I open it up there's no box for a password or email there is a black box that states it needs to change settings to install dependencies and when I click no I get a box stating please grant permission to native access to install dependencies please restart native access and try again release 2.7.0 .. I cannot get an answer anyway I mean absolutely anywhere and this cost me a lot of money and I've never either had software asking for special windows permissions with command prompt to change settings to install the whole lot which is a huge amount of software and if I install one of the older native instrument access installers it updates to 2.7.0 and I'm left with the same issue. Considering I have a lot of DAWs that I've bought plus a lot of video editing software how do I know this is not malware or virus even though that is signed by the correct people but it just seems weird that I have to let it change my Windows settings ?? I'm running Windows 11 home on an Acer nitro AN 515-54 with six terabytes SSD 3 x 2TB and 32 gig RAM. I've never ever come across this issue before and my windows is on 22H2. How do I know this is legitimate even though I have downloaded it from my own account in native instruments ? Anyone, please ?

Why have I not seen anyone talk about how NA has basically stolen our perpetual license for Kontakt with no reprecutions for them? I bought Kontakt recently and now I find out that I'm not allowed any more updates for it??? All I have now is the license for the old version that won't be supported in a couple of years and Kontakt 7 Player, which only opens up non-library's instruments in demo mode. How in the hell is this reasonable?!

For those who use 4K monitors, KONTAKT-7 is an ABSOLUTE DISASTER. Darker than before, less readable than before. Still not scalable with super ancient raster technology, completely outdated and not suited for modern video cards and monitors. Interface looks like brought from Windows3.1 (or alike). While all software on the planet evolves, Native Instruments seem to be frozen in time. I tried to use all kind of tricks to be able to read the screen and still it seems like I need to use the Magnifying Glass. KONTAKT and KOMPLETE KONTROL is a total disaster. Whoever owns 4K monitor needs to go back in time and DOWNGRADE to 1024 px in order to read the screen clearly. When it comes to certain plugins running inside Kontakt-7 it becomes even worse because the greatest plugins (.i.e. from Spitfire) are completely unreadable and so super tiny that one needs a microscope to read it. Also endless problems with built in SQLite database make this product super obsolete and super hard to manage. People an NATIVE INSTRUMENTS really need to wake up from their dream of having plugins monopoly because sooner or later somebody will do what they resist to do.

I am having trouble getting to a buy screen in NI - I sent a support request but I wondered if anybody else is having the problem as described: I choose to buy Kontakt 7 and the next screen tries to load then I see often very briefly a flash of "OOPS! WE HAVE A PROBLEM" or something like, (it is like only 1/10 of a second) - then the screen is white - nothing to click on, nothing to see. Is anyone else seeing this at present? The date of this writing is October 11, 2022. Guy, thank you sir! You have got me becoming a Kontakt user more and more.

I'm hoping I can reinstall Kontakt 6 and Abbey Road's Drummer Collection on my new Windows 10 computer ( or should I say my new PC is new old stock ) but I have only just upgraded from Windows 7 and I believe Kontakt 6 is Windows 10 compatible. But if I can't get Kontakt 6 to work on the new computer I will buy Kontakt 7 again. I actually thought for what I do the original Factory Orchestral library was OK and I sort of like it's more synthetic sound. Before I resigned I originally hoped to wait until 2025 to consider upgrading to Kontakt 7 but if Kontakt 6 works on my new PC I will be sticking with that.

KONTAKT MUST DIE ! 99% users agree that we need Kontakt completely redesign. Its structure, look and technology is almost as ancient as pyramids. The most obsolete music plugin on the market.

If you would have to choose between Kontakt 7 and Albion Collosus... which one would you pick? I know it's a tricky question, but in the overall, which one would you prefer?

I, like many out there have have been buying this stuff for years, add Arturia, spitfire, piano tec, toontracks, serum, project Sam, Omni, uvi, freebies ect.. Well I for one have 422 VIs all filled with presets and expansions There are days I’ll spend 5-7 hours just previewing a few seconds of sounds (not counting multies ) that I will never use or hear again Same with my e-drum and guitar synths, axefx, blah blah All great stuff but the weight is unbearable and can clogs up one’s music creation I have tracked to completion more scores, songs, commercial bits when I had just a few go to virtual synths, pieces of hardware, a few guitars and a upright piano But now I feel gluttonous and embarrassed to have so much It’s nice to walk away sometimes and hit our acoustic instruments, one guitar plugging right into an amp, that non-midi Sax or violin, piano, just to reconnect to the music waiting to come out, used to be a struggle of the wealthy but now it’s just everywhere But hey I to am an addict Hi, I’m mark and I’m a gear-a-holic

I just noticed the apple mouse on screen gets bigger when you move it really fast.......so you can FIND it on screen!

One of the things I found out later, because I didn't fully research, is that because it's a VST3 only, my VE pro 7 won't run it, so my slave machine is still on Kontakt 6. But I can run it on my master, and that's ok.

I have the collectors edition v13, and to upgrade to collectors edition v14 they want me to pay $599 again. So I am going to wait until its a bit more worth it for me to spend 599bucks.

I wish there was a bare version of Kontakt for a lower price. Many great synths run on Kontakt but I don't want to buy the entire NI Kontakt 30 GB bundle for 300 EUR just so that I can use Kontakt with a few third-party synths.

Hi Guy, really appreciate your videos, especially like the new K7 video. I’m having to run Logic through Rosetta because the plug-in manager crashed immediately when I tried to run on my new M1 Mac Mini without it. So how do I find out which plug- ins are non silicon compatible without the plug-in manager. Using Rosetta slows everything down (I’m told) which makes buying the new shiny M1 a bit spurious n’est ce pas ? Your thoughts 🤔
