Thank you for doing the recaps for Silo. Great sets, great writing, Rebecca Ferguson and Tim Robbins as leads with some good supporting cast - hopefully made this show a very enjoyable one for you to cover. See you in Season 3 I hope. I remembered as I was watching the thing switch to contemporary Washington, DC and utterly confused - Oh yeah firefighters suit! Juliette still lives!!!! Yeah! and as she was going down, she might have tried saving Bernard, by covering him in the incineration - or at least half of him given the size difference. The title is a laugh because that is just what Juliette got chucked into at the end. Looming in the background, is the city skyline - and no one knows what happened there. Save the brief view outside, and climbing through skeleton city - the show has been contained inside just two Silos.

@@liuj88 Nowhere in the book or TV show state that he is the "only" Dr. There is a whole medical facility in Silo and while both book/show focus on him it doesn't explicitly mention others. Considering there are multitudes of other professions (Sheriffs, mechanics, etc..) it would make sense there are multiple Doctors available. We even see in this season an apprentice Doctor who helps that guy who got shot.

Maybe i’m overthinking this but the way the show just “cuts” to the “normal world” felt so jarring and out of nowhere I almost felt like I had accidently flipped on a different show somehow. It really speaks to the shows credit in the ability to immerse the viewer that ONE shot of a “normal” street felt so incredibly off kilter. It’s like we’ve all been “living” in the Silo with the characters and have already gotten to the point where seeing such normal life would feel as equally shocking to us as it would the Silo’s inhabitants.

Looks like the airlock is designed to only allow people to go out, not come back in. I wondered why in 17 some people didn’t run back inside, they died in the stairway and there’s burned bodies. It’s really weird the big differences the show continues to develop from the books, yet still manages to end up at some of the same key events, just by a different route. Without spoiling anything in the next season, a key curious difference is that despite Jules and Bernard ending up in the airlock together when the sanitizing fires start, the entire circumstances around how and why are totally different. In the books, Lucas doesn’t quit his IT shadow position. In fact, in the books, while Jules was in Silo 17, they secretly communicate with one another over the radio and they’re both in their silos’ respective vaults; Bernard finds out and sentences Lucas to clean, which Jules learns about by radio from Walker who also manages to assemble a radio to communicate with the other silos. Jules rushes back to Silo 18 not to stop a war but to save Lucas, to be there when he comes out. But when she gets there the fires happen and only then does she realize it’s Bernard.

That is so wildly different! I like what the show did with it and I'm also intrigued by the book's version
@natecaplin4374
@natecaplin4374 12 күн бұрын
….the reason it’s Bernard in the airlock instead of Lucas who Bernard hawks sentenced to clean is that Paul the sheriff turns to the side of the rebellion as he is escorting Lucas to be put out to clean and forces Bernard out instead, but as readers we don’t find out until Jules discovers the person she is trying to save from the flames is Bernard instead of Lucas who she expected it to be. And in the books there is absolutely no discussion at all between Jules and Bernard when they meet in the airlock, no gun, etc. Bernard wasn’t going out willingly. Also, Sims’ wife being elevated to IT head doesn’t happen either.

@@nathy0308Also interesting is that the show paid a lot of attention in last couple episodes to the Safeguard (not called that in books but basically same thing), but in books, the safeguard isn’t revealed at all until midway through the second book, Shift. Clearly the showrunners wanted to hook viewers on this key threat as a cliffhanger now and also hint at the excitement of expanding the universe now by sneaking in the DC scene at end, which is actually set in the time of the second book, Shift.
@SilverCyric
@SilverCyric 12 күн бұрын
In the book she had a blanket to survive the firestorm thinking she was saving Lucas. She couldn’t understand why he kept trying to run away, and Bernard got cooked. I’m interested to see how this way plays out. I think it’s safe for a bit and then “they” pump gas into the air when people come outside. It’s probably AI gone wrong, but I still don’t see why it made the head of IT feel like it didn’t matter to keep people inside? If he thinks, it’s not safe outside, which he has too because he’s wearing the suit. smh! I do give them props for letting us see the people in the Silo see Juliette. It was just what I needed to look forward to the next season because for a while I feared Shift was on the chopping block since it is a major departure setting and cast wise from Jules' story, and production budgets are a thing. They proved that it is possible to spend some time away from Juliet and Silo 18 with this season though so I agree with Think we will probably see both plot lines side by side next season.

Theory: Maybe they can actually breathe outside, even if it is a wasteland that’s uninhabitable, the other silos would see people on their screens and every silo would rebel ruining humanities chance at repopulating the earth. My question is: is it really unsafe outside or is the silo poisoning people as they leave the silo. For some reason it pumps some sort of gas into the holding cell before the outer door is opened. I’m not 100% sold on the outside being so toxic that it kills people within a minute. Radiation doesn’t work like that. What toxins could be in the air for over 300 years? A nuclear war/false flag could be a method for wiping out competition on earth and repopulating it with your own peoples and govt in control. It would require a long term plan and the silos were clearly well thought out. I’m stuck on the fact that if any other silo saw a person on their screens it would cause their people to go outside and I believe the silo is killing people on their way out, not the outside killing them.

Like a crockpot slowly cooks, infuses flavours and tenderizes everything that's put into it, that same method was employed to present this second season. The sum of what led over ten episodes to the season's penultimate and finale, was greater than its parts. And what a meal, they delivered!..People who complained about how nothing was happening, how it was boring and how the story was marking time can stuff it. More's the pity for them, if they couldn't or wouldn't see the excellence in the writing. Graham Yost and his Silo writers room slow burned it, concentrating on solid character development and progressing the main arcs at the pace they deserved. They did this, regardless of viewers who were anticipating big *wham* moments and action set pieces which they didn't get --until the narrative dictated the time was right for them . A great 2nd season with no sophomore slump in evidence, imho and that final 5 minutes --was a chef's kiss. Bring on season 3! 🤗🤗🤗

@@Inhisarms333Bernard agreed to show Juliette the tape of Georges last moments if she would stop resisting and asking for an appeal. He brought her to IT with Sims. The tape showed George running to the rail of the stairs. “I would rather die than to get tortured by judicial”. He looks at the camera and put his hand over his heart before leaning over the side of the rail and falling to his death. It was deliberate. Now that I think of it, he wasn’t resigned like meadows, Lucas and Bernard. And he didn’t speak with ai.

I think due to the way shows can be binged it has "ruined" weekly show releases and complaints of being slow. I agree there were some slower moments though they are trying to get two seasons out of one book. I have stared Wool not a fan but I am happy for the differences as well as character development. The complaints about the dark are valid maybe write in some crank powered lamps just to give some lighting though having an OLED TV defiantly helps.😅 keep up the great work Think Story

The slow burn approach can work if done right. The way they did it here, though, only dragged out the show. Every scene needs to either develop a character's arch or move the plot forward. Many times, however, we were simply at a standstill as neither of those two things progressed.

This show is soooo good. I know you can't make a total comparison across shows but we all probably watch From too and I must say this show blows that slow paced time waste of a show out of the water. Every episode has so much substance. No meaningless dialogue and the progression is filled with edge of the seat moments. I really really love this show and will probably be very sad when it has to come to a conclusion.

Imagine if where the silos are located is the only apocalyptic area done to make the people of the silo believe that something truly catastrophic transpired. This could mean that the rest of the world could have no idea that the silos are there on some area 51 ish (hence the number 51) and this whole thing has been some crazy experiment done by the top 1% of people. This theory could mean that in the end of season 2 episode 10 the congressman and said reporter are just regular people living their lives in real time in correspondence to silo and they can end up finding out the truth of the silos. This theory also makes zero sense but one can imagine right. Like just imagine lol.

I got a sneaky suspicion Camille is Helen's descendant. It's why she was chosen. And the voice in Silo 1 might be also. I think it's that congressman maybe. But we haven't seen any proof of cryogenic tech yet. So that doesn't make sense unless it does.

@@HandMeDeals I would humbly urge you to look into the events that unfolded in 1979 during the US-backed revolution. Reason behind said revolution? Iran failing to bow down to the US for them to fulfill their imperial motives. CIA-backed media built a false narrative to justify the dethroning of the previous leader only for him to be replaced by a problematic one that has led the country down this peculiar path in history to leave it where it is now. ofcourse, the Iranian government is responsible for their actions now but always remember that the US was the catalyst behind the extremist regime. tldr neither side is innocent and neither should be shown as saints

Lucas Kyle and Camille could find out how many other silos are still running. 5. If Jules gets back in could that affect Solo (aka Jimmy) and set the algorithm to safeguard 17 again 6. There are enough distinct differences to grant you the awareness you seek while allowing viewing the series as an alternate telling. A way to analyze the differences and still be excited by what will be the same and what isn’t, but even more so, why… I was blown away they actually jumped back to the beginning of book 2 for the end. Didn’t think they’d go that far and cliffhanging Jules and Bernard was also unexpected. I truly don’t know if they’ll follow the book or follow the best idea for casting and the series itself. Personally I hope they don’t follow the book there 😃

That much was certain. I knew by Episode 3 what the potential big moments would culminate to, but they took their sweet sweet time and it just killed any momentum they had going. Too many rabbit hole sub plots that added nothing to the plot and that had little to no pay-off in character arcs.
