We can agree to disagree. The idea of horror is to scare and/or disturb the audience. When you're just targeting a specific audience, you're doing it wrong. AHS has always had something for everybody. This season didn't have that. It was most definitely meant for one segment of the audience. I'm sure it was terrifying season for members of the LGBTQ+ community. For the lowly degenerate straight folk in the audience, not so much.

This is first AHS season that made me cry because I felt so sad for the characters. There is an air of compassion in this season and the heart of it is Gino and Patrick relationship. I think this season hits it hard were you feel a true sense of empathy, hopeless and how frightening reality can be. No need for made up monsters, a disease with no cure, no matter how it came to be that targets marginalized people who have no social support. You really feel helpless, you would feel like death is stalking you. Watching all your friends, people you knew to your lover die to this disease. Despite all your protest, trying to bring awareness and demanding people to take notice...and no one still cares. It's just sad, this AHS it had it horror but it's also an excellent drama.

I am 60 now which means in 1981 I was a 19 year old gay man. I was delighted that they showed the first real press release about gay men dying of a rare cancer even though by the time that came out we were seeing guys dropping from all sorts of diseases that your body could typically fight off. If anyone questions that the scenes Ryan depicted actually occurred yes they absolutely did. NO ONE knew how this thing was spreading at first. The theories were rampant and misinformation spread like wildfire. One of the rumours was that some right wing wacko was taking plutonium fragents and hiding them in bath houses and gay bars. First responders quite often wouldn't once they found out who was asking for help. If they did show, they came in hazmat suits. The only thing they didn't depict this season and this kind of pisses me off a bit was that it was the community itself that stepped up to take care of those affected since the government washed it's hands of us until after Rock Hudson died (Reagan didn't say the word AIDS in public until after that). Lesbians were the ones who really stepped up and started organizing meal delivery, home checks, medication co-ops, etc., etc. So BRAVO to Ryan and his team for showing a slice of what it was like for us back then. It was literal HELL. Imagine the simple act of wanting to express sexual feelings for someone was like playing Russian Roulette for us back then. Sex = Death was a very real fact of life for us. One week you would marvel at how handsome someone was or how magnificently built they were and the next time you saw them out and about a few weeks later and they were visibly detiorating and shortly after that they disappeared off the face of the Earth. MANY of them to be sent back home to some backwater village to die in the care of their families who up to that point probably didn't know they're son/brother/cousin were gay in the first place until the living skeleton they had turned into showed up.

Ryan Murphy has surpassed himself with this season. It invokes many emotions and the fundamental sadness of these young men dying slowly, agonisingly and utterly alone. I can’t imagine how horrible it must’ve been . I thought the allegory of the leather man/AIDS a powerful statement, the lack of funding, education fed the fires of ignorance and fear. Ryan Murphy doesn’t sugar coat anything and that is as it should be, but I loved the angels who came for Theo, I thought that was a beautiful touch, despite everything, there is hope, Theo guiding Sam though the sins of his past was very moving and reminded the viewer viscerally what these people endured down to the core. Truly one of the best seasons in American television within the last twenty years. The ending montage, set to "Radioactivity" by Kraftwerk, conjured up many emotions. Even though I am too young to have lived through the height of the AIDS epidemic, I have heard many stories from that dark time in history. Personally I thought the season started off a little slow, but by the end I was convinced that this truly was the best season of AHS - I don't know how they will be able to top this, as this was TRUE American Horror.

This was one of my favorite seasons so far. I really liked this one, cult, 1984, and Double feature. I think they've really been killing it lately. Murder House and Coven were pretty good, but I feel like they've gotten better, which is impressive because most shows get worse over time.

Thank you, so many didn't get the symbolism of Big Daddy. I loved this season. The title is American Horror Story. As someone who lived in the 80s, who watched my friend find out he had been sleeping with someone with AIDS, this story is a true horror story. We know that HIV virus may have already been in the USA for at least 3 decades prior. Long before tests existed. Lot of people died from cancers, pneumonia and other HIV/AIDS related diseases and none the wiser to test for it, didn't know it existed till the gay community came out and said something was going on. I absolutely felt that this season was fantastic! I’m proud of Ryan Murphy and co. for deciding to go with an all too REAL horror! I think that it’s also very timely with the pandemic right now since a lot of the same fears surfaced when Coronavirus/Covid-19 first wrapped her deadly arms around us. Immediately it seemed like if you get it, death is certain. Back in the early AIDS era it was the same with people dying in DROVES. And not just gay men. I think it was important for this story to be retold now and to remind folks that the fight for equality in ALL walks of our lives is still ongoing and is still in need of repair. This season was heartbreaking, informative and still very entertaining as well! I would call this, “On a very special season of AHS”. This season took me a while to get into because I am used to the 'in your face' kind or horror that AHS has delivered in past seasons. However, the slow building crime drama is a nice step in another direction. The previous season endings (to me), have always struggled to stick the landing. Reason being, AHS has so many themes running around its storytelling, that when it comes time to end it, the finishing moments don't really add up. However, this season, the theme was always in the background with the main characters trying to outrun their 'borrowed time'. AHS can be amazing...and this season proves it. Well done to everyone for this haunting yet beautiful American Horror Story.

This season really didn't feel like horror.... 90% just felt like filler and if they wanted to focus on aids they should have done that instead we just got a very unclear message about anything other than that "aids sucked when it first started to outbreak" which I mean.... yes..... it just felt like misery porn. I mean if thats the point that aids was horrible and lives of people effected no matter who just had horrible deaths and treatment then I guess that came across but doesn't work as good TV. I feel like my time was just wasted and this could have been a 1 episode for American horror stories. That said there isn't much media that touches on the aids crisis and it really got me tearing up during the final episode but looking at the season as a whole it just doesn't justify almost 10 hours.
