I have the 10cc Valiant. I can't wait to get it in the air. Keep up the videos!

I am in the final stages of building the 10cc, did you get yours built?

I am glad you got it back flying! I had my first one crash when the battery wire got wrapped on the throttle servo. Went vertical, chopped the power, and down she came. No servos or engine straight down like a dart from 100 ft. Nothing was left. I did just get my Valiant back up 1 year after the first one. I did the maiden only few weeks ago and this time used more velcro to secure wires. Also went with the DLE 40 Twin vs last one with a DA35. Man I like that DLE40! Thank you for all your videos! PS.... You lost weight!
@flyingrcdotnet7 жыл бұрын
I found the perfect weight loss plan, esophageal cancer, remove the esophagus and stomach, tie the rest back together and hope for the best. Not a good way to spend the last 10 months or so but I am flying again!

thintz12 Oh Tom. Man im sorry to hear this. Check me out on FB. Im on your friends list as Jonny D Falgout. Lets try to connect and fly! Im happy to see your staying positive. Its the only way to be. My grandfather past away a year ago from cancer. He lived life all the way through. Huge inspiration. I am praying for you.

Great to see this plane in your hangar Tom. I think you need the 10cc version now!

I think I will stick with the 30cc version and leave well enough alone!

Strong work my friend!! Good to see the new "ole bird" flying!!

I finished the floats late yesterday so given halfway decent weather in a couple weeks I will be taking it to the Smith Lake Flyers float fly and "make my triumphant return!" Or so I hope! That was my first time flying off water and it was great fun with the Valiant and i look forward o getting it right this time!

I enjoy your videos, full of helpful information. How did you set up your flight modes, I have a DX9.
@flyingrcdotnet7 жыл бұрын
I think we will have to do a story on using Flight modes. It is easy and covered in the instruction manual until I get to that story.

That will be helpful, thanks.

This is the selling point for me. Went to order one and they're backordered... -_- I'll research other models and see if my patience holds out untill this summer when a new shipment is supposed to arrive. Curious of typical flight time with that 40cc, and how many ounce fuel tank will fit in it? I'm aiming for a four stroke gaser but there are a few twin cylinder two strokes that dont sound too terrible. Afraid they'll slurp the tank dry quickly. As far as the video goes, I love the commentary and quality filming. thanks for posting.
@flyingrcdotnet5 жыл бұрын
I get 10 minute flights easily with an 16-ounce tank but that time depends heavily on your style of flying. Use more full throttle and the time goes down. As for how big a tank will fit, this is a huge fuselage so just about any tank will fit. for my style of flying and the DLE40 twin, 16 oz is plenty.
@Smokevolt5 жыл бұрын
@@flyingrcdotnet Good to know, and thanks for the reply. I would be mostly sport flying and prefer low passes and touch-and-go's. 16oz tank would most likely suit me just fine. 12 years ago i prefered the white knuckle full speed thrills but my eyes arent what they used to be and i've dropped too much money into fails attempting to show off. Nowadays i'm looking for something to float in smooth. Speaking of smooth, i've watched a lot of your videos since this and that hangar 9 Ultra Stick you posted seems to float in nicely too.... (And they have them in stock lol)

Hi there; first of all, I can tell you I admire your positive attitude. I am following your videos about the Hangar 9 Valiant, as I purchased mine one year ago. Unfortunately, no way to start assembling her so far; I have been very busy at work, even far away from home. I am considering using a RCGF 30 twin-cylinder engine, instead of a DLE 35RA that I have in hand. I would like to know your opinion about this option please. Many thanks in advance!
@JEK1344 жыл бұрын
What did you do for engine cooling? I have a DLE 40 twin on mine. Engine runs great without the cowl. Put it on and idles fine but will not hit full throttle. I have 2 louvers on top of the cowl and one on the bottom.
@flyingrcdotnet4 жыл бұрын
I always make the cutout around the exhaust a little bigger than needed but no other opening modifications were made in the cowl. I always run my engines just a touch rich but have not had any issues with the DLE twin 40 in my Valiant.

Good to see that you have another Valiant 33in the air after seeing the other one come down. What you say about the Valiants flying ability is so true. I flew my valiant on the weekend, I had not flown it for awhile and man it was great to fly again and could not understand why I had "parked" it up for awhile. Its a great plane for a introduction into the larger scale planes. It runs the Evo 33 and we fly on a salt lake here in Western Australia. Not a great fan of the Evolution takes a bit of tinkering but seems a reliable motor. I also looked at the 10 cc version, i like it but yet to decide on wether I purchase one, do you like that version? but for now I will continue to fly the 33cc version as it sure is a lot of fun and forgiving. Thanks for your time in putting a video together brother, they are informative, direct and I might add, easy to watch and listen too. Steve

I haven't flown the 10cc version yet but it looks great and I expect will fly every bit as good as the big and little electric versions. Stay tuned!

What type of camers is being used to film your flights?
@flyingrcdotnet5 жыл бұрын
Canon XA10 that is several years old now and has had a ton of video shot through it. Great camera, and we process all of our video through Adobe Premiere Pro software to ready it for the Internet.

I'm looking to get into a big gas engine rc plane. I've had smaller electric planes in the past. Don't want to do nitro. I'm assuming you would recommend this Valiant or Cub as a first large gas engine plane? Also what is your favorite larger gas high wing plane to fly?
@flyingrcdotnet5 жыл бұрын
The Valiant is my favorite high wing plane, easily. With the help of someone experienced with bigger planes most people can learn to be on their own quickly. Cubs are nice but not as a first big plane. Cubs have some flying traits that takes a little getting used to, not learning at the same time.

Would you ever consider building a RTF version? install motor all Servos and and set everything up ready for a receiver/and batties? if so i would be very interested this is amazing work you do... if so shout me an email please
@flyingrcdotnet5 жыл бұрын
In all our reviews we show those installations but include the receiver and batteries. I guess I am not seeing how building a RTF version would be substantially different, unless of course I am not fully understanding this post which if you follow me for long should always be considered a possibility.

Love the videos have a question though you have used a lot of different engines have you or anyone there ever had a rotomotor 35 fs 4 stroke gas ? Was looking to get one for my 1/4 scale l4 grasshopper but not a lot of reviews on it. Thx

I'm over here in Smallsbury, I love your videos...I was just curious what caused the 1st Valiant interference??? I'm still on 72mhz, I haven't had any real problems with it, most of the time it was my fault. Although I do have a receiver that time to time the shift jumper wire gives me grief...That is an awesome setup you got, I am jealous, could you be my rich uncle???
@flyingrcdotnet7 жыл бұрын
Something internal went ca-ca with the receiver. It also did it on the bench when I was taking it apart so as per my traditional "never me again" I smashed it with a really big hammer to be sure nobody else inherited the problem. I had years on that receiver so it didn't owe me anything anymore. Got a new one for the next plane.

Tom, have you ever considered Jeti? The redundancy, safety, simplicity, is second to none! Price is reasonable to.
@flyingrcdotnet6 жыл бұрын
I have looked at Jeti but I am doing all this out if my own pocket so they are still really expensive from my standpoint. My viewers have asked about that line so I'd love to get some of their stuff to fly. We'll see. I'll go buy an extra lottery ticket.
@davidfalgout73046 жыл бұрын
I hear ya... I sold some stuff to buy mine. It was really a no brainer... actually when I saw it does not take to many radio failures to pay for reliability that Jeti offers. Planes are not cheap like in the old days.

I notice that it is only Futaba people that find it necessary to do the "Go Futaba" thing.
@kimchikoalaa7147 жыл бұрын
I'm on both spektrum and futaba, and there is a "Bermuda Triangle" in the field that all spektrum models will lose signal. I use Futaba on more expensive model for added security
@cornbinder19705 жыл бұрын
I lost my last plane to spectrum. I'm loving FrSky and open TX, learning curve definitely, but always having RSSI warnings if signal is getting close to fail safe is comforting.
