I don't really care what the politics are but Stephan made a huge career mistake dismissing Kevin. I worked in the record industry for many many years and I'm convinced this band would have had much greater success had that original lineup remained intact. Stephan had one of the ingredients and Kevin had the other with the other guys filling in the gaps for sure. Without Kevin in particular, this band will never be as great as it could have been.

Jenkins is obviously a good songwriter and lyricist, but dear god is Kevin Cadogan an absolute genius. When he was ousted, the heart of this band was ripped out. Jenkins has had some good moments since then, but nothing close to what both he and Cadogan created. It's a big what if to what this band could have achieved after the genius that is 'Blue'. Also, a nod to Arion as well as the combination of him and Cadogan is simply electric.

Yes! Finally someone says what I’ve thought all these years. Cadogan had the magic, he was the soul that drove the emotions of those songs. Without him the songs have felt like knockoffs with different guitarists. His sounds were were a voice of their own and you couldn’t just replicate that voice by following sheet music. I remember my first concert going to see 3EB and immediately thinking « whole fucking shit they’re hard ». The album couldn’t capture that punk vibe where they played these songs fucking hard. Without Kevin they went soft, like the album.

@@billybutcher4995is definitely wrong, my friend. Tony can really solo and shred. I assume that his really out of place tunings made that magic. You can't solo in that kind of weird open tunings. It would make those songs very unbearable. Example: Can't Get Away is in F# B E A C# F#, you can't bend or do vibratos in that tuning. Misfits is in D# G C F G A#, it's not a very tonal tuning if you ask. Try to solo on that tuning and you'll have a mess trying to write a solo on that kind of tunings You can only make chords on it. I'm not even talking about Company, it even surprises me how the hell he did that ending with a tuning that low.

The magic that this band had completely evaporated after Kevin was fired. Literally a night and day difference. Jenkins really fucked up being such a selfish prick. Had this band stayed with the original lineup, they would have achieved way more fame (not that they weren’t already quite popular). But man, they just had so much chemistry, and Jenkins and his greed/ego had to go and ruin it. Is he a good songwriter? Of course, but Cadogan’s guitar work really brought his songs to life. This is evident when you look at how quickly the band declined once the 90’s ended. Good songs only go so far when you don’t have the proper instrumentation to carry them.

Kevin in third eye blind is like the frusciante of the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Brilliant songwriter and great musician.

LOL! What an unexpected comment. Here I am, reading about how everyone misses the 90s, and how much of a douche Stephan Jenkins is, and then your 'random' comment pops up. 😆 I hope most of these people in the audience are not grandparents... yet..

Stephen Jenkins envy of 3EB is so apparent and sad at the same time. If Jenkins was truly humble and collaborative with Cadogan instead of being jealous of his lead guitarist's proven talent, our imagination can only dream of the possibilities. Jenkins had/has talent too as a songwriter and singer, that much was obvious. But he wanted it all.
