in regards to flinching and co-op: I'm hoping they make co-op more like a dynamic dance with multiple partners, the main dancer being the target monster and everyone else stepping in and out in time to the rhythm of the monster is setting. so that would give weapons a role and a pacing that others would have to be aware of and keep tabs on where/when to step in. *edit* thanks for doing these podcasts! 1:27:30 For the CB, and I think Gaijin was trying to point this out, morphing straight into the second level of discharge is great because you get two phials hits for one. It's great especially for impact phials since you can buildup two of the impacts with the cost of one phial. It is much stronger than just morphing regularly.

A couple notes on the switch axe In my opinion it is the vertical chop after wild swing that activates the phials in axe mode in the showcase it wasn't until the hunter did the slam that the phials started showing on the axe they only did like 4 hits in sword mode after it which should not have been enough to fill the gauge . I also believe they got rid of the external sword gauge the glow in the video is from the Silkbind move activating it stops the gauge from decreasing for a period of time, also the zero sum discharge would have restored a little of the gauge if it was still in the game
@deinonychus19484 жыл бұрын
Secret Level 3 Silkbind Attacks: -Greatsword, Apocalyptic Slash; thrown down a few lines of silk and if you get hit the monster gets tangled in the silk (until the attack finishes) and your hunter performs a True Charged Slash immediately -Longsword, Critical Counterslash; you make a stance similar to the Critical Junction hunter art, if you get hit your character flips back and stabs your weapon into the monster for incredible damage -Sword and Shield, Shield Slash; you put your shield in front of you, then you thrust the sword into the monster, staggering it and then you jump from your sword above the monster and you then smash the monsters head with the shield, with a high stun value -Hammer, Meteor Crush; you fling yourself into the air, charge your hammer 2-3 times in mid-air and then you come crashing down onto the monster, inflicting a devastating attack onto the monster -Heavy Bowgun, Heavy Ammo Barrage; you load your gun with the ammo you currently have selected, fire a line of silk at the monster, causing you to aim towards the monster, and then you unlease a rapid fire barrage of whatever ammo you loaded into the weapon -Light Bowgun, Minefield; you fling yourself above a monster and unleases a volley of mines onto the monster -Charge Blade, Aerial Hypercharge; you charge your sword and shield simultaneously, then you fling yourself in the air and unlease a SAED from the air to the ground -Switch Axe, Full Charge Discharge; you switch to Sword mode, swing your sword at the monster, if it hits; your sword immediately goes into Amped State and gets fully charged, you can then combo either into a normal Sword mode combo or unlease a Zero Sum Discharge into the monsters face -Dual Blades, Demonic Rage; you enter Demon Mode and for 30-60 seconds Demon Mode doesn't consume stamina and deals extra damage -Bow, Unyielding Dragon; you begin launching a Dragon Piercer, if the monster hits you during this, not only is the damage nullified, but the Dragon Piercer launches the moment you get hit -Insect Glaive, Kinsect Spear; you aim your Kinsect and launch it at the monster and then you fling yourself into the air and crash down directly onto the Kinsect, no matter where the monster moves -Lance, Charging Drill; you charge at the monster at maximum charge, using a basic attack triggers a 3 hit stab attack, using the wide sweep triggers a powerful sweeping slash that has a high chance to stagger the monster, if you charge the wide sweep it triggers a sweeping slash that combos into a 3 hit stab attack -Gunlance, Wyvern Inferno; you hurl a line of silk into the monster, you then fling yourself onto the targeted bodypart and you then unlease a powered up Wyvern's Fire directly into that bodypart Some of these are cool, some are likely too overpowered (looking at you Lance) and some may not fit the whole 'Silkbind' theme but you get the idea!

I do believe that the CB's Morphing Advance has different things you can do from it. the description states; "Can be chained into a variety of attacks after moving." So, it would make sense that after you do the advancing the only thing it does is morph into axe mode. But after that you can press whatever buttons you have available. Not just the regular wide sweep. But, it could be that the fastest attack to do from the Morphing Advance is the sweep.

Re. Nerscylla, I actually think are chances are pretty low to have it return for two reasons: 1. We are already getting a new spider monster. Of course, this means the skeleton will presumably be back, but Nerscylla is no longer *THE* spider monster. 2. More importantly, Nerscylla was designed to show off MH4's vertical elements. MH: Rise does feature verticality, but via *completely* different mechanics. All walls are climbable in a limited capacity instead of the usual infinite capacity along specific walls, Wirebugs need to be used to start climbing vertically, and ledges/multiple vertical levels in hunting arenas seem effectively deleted in Rise. Nerscylla has essentially hit a less extreme version of the Gobul scenario where its primary mechanic is now deprecated.

The fact we still don't have a blunt damage Dual Blades-style punching weapon makes me sad. I mean hell, you could even bring back some of the tenderize mechanic by having repeated hits (or a special move) on one part apply a tenderized effect - but only one part at a time. So you can co-operate with other hunters to break parts down quicker or increase status vulnerability.

While I mainly played GL and SA in base World, the SnS was one of the most fun ones I tried late into the game. What I loved about it in World was that the shield bash combo felt REALLY good and was a rather viable option as well. I built a set for paralysis and knock outs and MAN, I was knocking out monsters left and right and still doing damage because the bashes were just SO strong and connected to the back hop for added mobility. It was amazing. Not at all meta, I think, but so cool. That versatility felt really good and made me much more interested in the weapon. EDIT I really want friendly fire to be gone. I hate to have to constantly be the evil guy and tell my friend to please not clust me all the time. Sure, I *can* tell him and I do, but good lord, the times I've heard "Clust is so powerful it doesn't matter" from him, I'm kinda sick of it. I don't wanna be toxic but it's awful.

Gaijin is not exactly right about SnS not being that popular. In Monster Hunter Freedom it was more powerful than the GS and widely used and has had common use throughout the games by players. It just has a bad rep as being the "beginner" weapon. Also IG aerial attacks apart from the downward thrust do bad damage. So Gaijin is wrong for saying that if anyone says that it means they don't like the weapon. Facts are those attacks are bad and they would be used a lot more if their motion values were higher. I wasn't one of those people hating on IG like other's did either. What they showed just wasn't interesting.

On the topic of "bits on sticks", I'm actually not against it in Iceborne. No, I don't want to see it back, but I feel like it's a good part of the identity of MHW/Iceborne. As a Hunting Horn main I was able to make a very nice layered build with pretty much custom audio. No other weapon can do that. Basically, it you don't know how base/parts HH works, I'll explain. The base of it has some kind of baseline that has 3 slight variations that all sound similar for each if the three song inputs (I use the Luna base, so mine is a war drum). The parts make up the melodies (I use Ruiner which for some reason is a sort of jazz thing) and also have 3 slight variations on their respective song sounds for each recital input. The baselines and melodies combine when you have both base and parts on the weapon, and they act as some custom audio for the weapon. So yeah I liked making my super stylish custom layered set in Iceborne, but I'll be happy to leave that customisation in that game. Also I was surprised to see the echo note back, just because it uses the clutch claw in Iceborne.
@CloudWind06434 жыл бұрын

If anything, bits on sticks was what the original vision of monster hunter was- ridiculous weapons but still somewhat grounded and nothing too flashy or anime (it's weird to hear people call MHGU a 'traditional' mh game). What World did wrong was repeat the same design over and over again, and it led angered fans to claim that the old mh was more 'colorful and vibrant' and didnt care about 'gritty realism', which applies to generations and portable 3rd, but not the others imo

@@tofuteh2348 I personally would have liked the MHW system better if they had more base Models and you could change their color I really liked the saw blade chargeblade with the cross like center cutout, some of the bone models were nice too. If you could add a dye to the bone or coat the metal in a metalic paint it'd be more personallized. Especially because you could match or contrast with the Monster parts(using red Odo parts with White bone, using Black Bone with black Diablos parts, make Red Steel with Zinogre parts) all they needed to do is add that level of depth to it. Make 5 models for each material type(Bone Iron Steel) 3 Unique Dorado models, 2 Unique Luna Models and they would have had a cool system(add in color change option at the end) and boom no complaints from anyone.

This is actually my first time hearing about the new mounting mechanic so as an IG main though the weapon reveal felt lackluster for me, if IG gets some real love with the mount mechanic that could completely turn me around on the whole thing. Because in World, while the IG wouldn't necessarily get mounts faster than other weapons in certain scenarios, it was without a doubt the best of all the weapons to have once you were actually mounted simply because of how it worked entirely differently. So yeah if IG truly does end up the aerial & mounting master this time around that'll be fantastic because I love the weapon, I couldn't care less about damage effectiveness outside of very specific fights & mechanics.

As an insect glaive main who has fun by playing optimally, im just sad they didnt give insect glaive any new options and unless the aerial attacks ignore hitzone data even if their mv is buffed they wont deal as much damage as being on the ground hitting weakspots. Other weapons got all kinds of new stuff in iceborne and got to keep it without being tied to a cooldown a n d got new stuff. Im still holding onto hope for the kinsect system to maybe save it or aerial attacks to get some kinds of buff so they actually deal comparable damage to the ground. Ability to fly does not mean anything to me if it makes my hunt take much longer while doing it.

personally i feel the longsword needs more combo attacks or something that isnt a counter. give the long sword a demon dance that would be so cool, like depending on the charge is how long it goes so if your at red charge you do like 3 attacks then you go to yellow then another 3 attacks then to white with another 3 attacks. you build up your spirit and burn it all in one big combo.

that's literally the spirit combo, the weapon already has it

@@gleipnirrr it's only 4 attacks it's not much of a combo lol I mean give the long sword a demon dance and depending on how much spirit you have is how long it goes for. They just keep giving the weapon more counters we got the helmet breaker which was very much needed but the weapon has 3 counters to it.

I found that that the Raging Brachy gunlance is actually one of tze easiest ro read. And the design choice is soawesome. When you use wyvernfire the slime on the barrel actually gets uses upand dissapears (not on the tip of the funlance tho) and then the slime is regenerating itself. Just a smart idea ro use the gimmick of the monster for this design. And i REALLY like the choice pf shifting the gameplay focus of the gunlance more towards wyvernfire. I am a little concerned by how this will go in multiplayer though.

SnS, CB, and GL look so amazing. I cannot wait to try them all out in the demo. Life being as busy as it is, I'm hoping my girlfriend gets to play her HH before the demo disappears lol

What if mounting is now a group activity of some sort where you all try to bring down the monster with your wirebugs? Now that can be the real "Silkbind".

So after hearing Gaijin's opinions about IG here, I still don't get what he finds appealing about IG's hidden benefits within the silkbinds (the non-hidden stuff being more distance with the jump, and the dodge+HP recover of the recall). The weapon being able to reset combos feels just as redundant as getting more maneuverability, it's not a shortcoming IG had in World. On the ground IG already has an infinite combo and free-flowing paths, so what's the advantage of reseting? Reseting what, excactly? You can already combo for infinity between the two attack buttons. And on air you could already do a hard limit of 5 consecutive jumps and Circle/A attacks which would pretty much deplete your stamina, how is continuing that helpful if it doesn't restore stamina in the first place, and then the A/Circle button doesn't have good MV (which to be fair could be buffed in Rise), still, in World you could already stay a good 10-12 seconds on air before finishing it with Triangle/X (usually the higher damaging attack, the thing most people want to do when they jump it does this attack, not really spam Circle/A) or the Dragoon Dive. And it's not like it takes long at all to land and jump back up again into another 10 seconds of aerial spam, assuming stamina was infinite. So I fail to see how removing the 5 hit limit is that benefitial when very few people reached that limit in the first place (again mostly due to poor Circle/A MVs and the landing attack being the end-goal) - keeping in mind that instead of wasting a wirebug cooldown on this zero-damage reset you could just spend it on the seemengly superior Silkbind Dive instead.

A good bow user will never spam World Arc Shot. For my part, I only use it on monsters that I know are downed and that I can easily KO
