I still remember some of my early experiences in MH4U, with S&S being easy to pick up and just use but I didn't actually _like_ it ... but somewhere around Najarala and Rathian I picked up a Charge blade and could just _feel_ an intuition of "I know exactly how this thing works!" even though it was literally my first time with it. Stamina appreciation ... it's not just Bow, but Dual Blades and Hammer and Lance too. Any weapon that consumes stamina as a core part of its moveset makes you REALLY appreciate the other weapons that don't. I also love mining -- it's one of the few resource types you cannot use the "farm" for, and in older games it's a good source of RNG Charms. (MH3U had an achievement for mining and I hit that pretty quickly...) Alatreon ... I've only hunted it in Generations so far, but I still have mixed opinions. I hate Alatreon's design, but like Nergigante, that actual fight is awesome (especially with an agile weapon). Speaking of shared experiences, when the Switch launched and I picked up Breath of the Wild, I showed my mom how it opened and next thing you know ... I'm playing it while she's watching and we both enjoyed that very much. Oh, and did you _have_ to mention The Last Jedi? Now THAT's a den of scum and villainy I could argue a lot of points over. I still remember the first time seeing at the local theater, and taking away this vague underlying impression that something about it was _very wrong_ but I couldn't (yet) explain what or why. As for the MH film (nice segue btw), I've said it elsewhere and I'll repeat it here: it sounds like people criticize it not because Anderson got the series _totally_ wrong, he got it TONALLY wrong which is a far worse sin to commit. And it relates _directly_ to Star Wars ep.8 because, no matter the quality of production, if you are building a story around the wrong core idea then the problems are unfixable (without scrapping the project and starting anew, at a high cost of sunk time and money).

Hi Ruri and Gaigin, if either of you see this. Regarding the mud monster being used to make metal looking armor sounds like the real art of dorodango, polishing mud or similar to the point it resembles billiard balls or the like. They put their good old Monster Hunter twist on it pushing it all the way to armor but it's not an entirely unheard of technique. Just a bit more real world influence that finds its way into the games that makes them so great.

22:16 I got beaten so badly by Iceborne Alatreon on my first attempt that I felt the need to begin a training arc to become a better hunter. I put on the Safi set to force myself to become more observant and aggressive and I was eventually able to solo both Alatreon and Fatalis. I definitely agree that overcoming these insane fights is about not getting discouraged too quickly; like, it’s only you’re first attempt, you can still get way better! The only part of this that I’m embarrassed about is the fact that I started with Tri. 😔

The weird part is I have never had that happen to me before it just all of a sudden happened a month or so ago. Really scary. Also maybe ask your doc if it's Gurds man its alot more common in younger people (under 40) than they thought and can cause a plethora of issues and is easily fixed with a laproscopic surgery. Stomach acid was basically melting my lungs. Felt like sharing because it sounds very similar to what I went through.

Man, that part about solo vs. multiplayer is so true. I did Alatreon solo because I wanted to proof to myself that I could do it. It was great when I finally killed him after several failed attempts, but playing solo gets boring very quickly and in the end my main motivation in MH isn't killing things fast or proving my (nonexistent) skills, I just want to help random people out and have fun with them. Heck, the sole reason why I even got into Monster Hunter is simply because it was the first game that I could actually play online with other people.

In regards to there being no right way to get the win, big ups. It does help to solo a monster though in terms of learning it. Then again so does multiplayer. The use of the term “overpowered hunters” could use some discussion though. My idea of overpowered hunters have been sticky mains, cluster mains ( vanilla world ) and bow users. But when you see hunters ( sometimes even mr 999s ) drop into your hunt and beat the ever living crap out of the monster, it does not always mean they are overpowered. It sometimes means they have learned the monster moveset extensively and know where to hit it for the most damage. I notice that some players, when they see the 999s drop in and destroy a monster, it’s easy to dismiss what’s going on in there as “they have the best gear and spend their lives here” and that’s not always the case. Sometimes not only have they put a lot of time into the game but they also have an extremely good grasp of learning monsters, using i frames or offensive guard where appropriate and maximizing damage not just via skills like attack boost or agitator, but via positioning and setups ( like landing a heavy axe slam with swaxe on teostra’s head as it lands on the ground after its nova ).

While I like Alatreon a lot (probably my favorite fight in Iceborne), I still feel uneasy with him switching to his opposite element when you have no more horn to break, then killing you with his next EJ you cannot depower. Happens at 21 min mark. You kill him before or you cart. A dps check within a dps check. This is my only grip with Alatreon. When Alatreon was first released, Beotodus weapons were my only options due to not having the PS+ for Safi/Kulve and he killed me two times per run solely because of this. Rurikhan hates suggestion of nerf, but it would be more fair if breaking both horns prevents him from switching completely, or at the very least still giving you the possibility to stop the switching by reaching a threshold on the head after he has no more horn.

About FATALIS tho. He is really hard. I recently played DS3 for the first time and i beat every boss in under 1h (most like 3-10 tries). Fatalis was a 2 session affaire, like 12+h. That´s not because i´m some special gamer alpha but because Fatalis has alot of movements to learn on top of your weapon expertise and all the preparation (items, sets, crafting) you need to actually get to him and have a numerical chance. You can beat a DS boss being undergeared/under-lvl´d because they have stuff you can do to cheat a bit (parry, backstabs, enchantments or build in weaknesses). Fatalis can´t be cheated, you have to beat it in time. If he was 50min, he would be way easier.

The only monster throughout MHWI that I didn't solo first was Furious Rajang (and sieges obviously but they don't count) simply because I forgot completely about my that rule in the moment xD It shames me to this day that I failed to do it just once. That's just how I play others can do as they like! 😁 I'm torn as to weather that's how I'm gonna do it in Rise or if I'll switch it on it's head since Rise will be the first time I've had a full team of me + 3 friends to start the game off with.

i feel like the major fights are more fun with people only if you coordinate with them and they arent looking like they came in fresh off the streets to be thrown onto the cart. other than that i prefer to fight them solo to prove how far ive come since i first started playing monster hunter with MH3U. soloing Fatalis was a rush of adrenaline, happiness and a huge sense of accomplishment that i hope to see something similar going forward into Rise

I started with MH2nd, so that makes me a 2nd Fleeter huh? Man, some of my fondest gaming memories where the first time playing this game as a gunner, fighting a Bulldrome (which I hope is in Rise or future games) with 3 of my friends! I had never experienced anything quite as fun in multiplayer!

As someone who's tarted with world but soon went back to the and 3u, I much prefer the older games so while technically I am a fifth fleeter, I am a fourth fleeter at heart. also, I don't have friends so playing solo has brought me some of the best memories I have ever had!

On the topic of doing things solo... I think a lot of that stems from games like dark souls, don't get me wrong there's nothing wrong with a bit of jolly cooperation, but there was definitely an element in the community that felt there was more 'prestige' to be gained in doing it solo, and that bringing in summons was basically cheesing the fight (especially as in those games you only fight each boss once per playthrough unlike mh where you can replay fights) just look at let's play channels like Prepare to Try (now RKG), who got stick in the comments if they summoned. I think a lot of people have brought that mindset over to MH. At the end of the day though, meh, who cares what other people think, ill play a game how I want, its the person that comments that has the problem.

I've got a daughter that is 10. I've tried to casually get her into Monster Hunter but I think it's too hard for her to get into. She's intimidated by the complex controls. I very briefly managed to get her into the cycle of hunting a monster, and getting the materials to make new gear. She enjoyed that, but I think part of the problem might have been that it was MHGU and there were too many weapons with too many ways to play each one and it was intimidating. She typically just plays Pokemon, Minecraft, and Roblox and this was my attempt to get her into something new. I want to try again with Rise, maybe since the weapons don't have 6 styles each she will be able to get into one easier.

Okay, as a long time horn player and with the HH being my original main, I like them both, the old horn and new horn, I wouldnt mind if the new horn becomes the norm, but if the old horn returns, I really hope the double note mechanic returns from GU. It is my absolute favorite thing ever introduced that I was disappointed when it didn't come back in world. I still use the horn in icebore but I always find myself thinking after every hunt, "man I wish GU's double note mechanic was here, the horn would be so much better, especially with the new combos in iceborne."

Personally I'd like a mix of the two. I like how you hit the notes and the song activates. However I'd like for the songs to be actual combos, not just xx & aa, maybe have it so when you do the super it acts as an encore. Just those 2 changes and I feel the horn would be perfect. Even still, love the Doot-Doot stick and it's probably gonna go from my #3 to my #2...who knows, maybe might even overtake my Greatsword.

I finally last weekend killed fatalis with 3 other people after spending a week straight fail after fail. I came back to mhw the beginning of this year in anticipation for rise. In total I only put 300hours into the game, in which I deeply regret not playing more. Went from beginning of iceborne to Mr 100 in a month and some change. What a ride of a game I was missing out on.

I was thinking about something today. Looking at the release of MH games they have had something every calendar year. I know it doesn’t matter with only a month left, but I have to think if it wasn’t for the Pandemic, Rise would have released Holiday 2020.
