Pity we don't get the update 1.5L engine found in US market VW Taos. 130kw mated to a 8 speed torque converter auto. Runs on regular ulp.

Looks nice from a styling point of view. I drove the current gen model as a hire car for a week and found the base engine struggled in day to day traffic. It actually felt particularly buzzy and grindy off the line - the hire car had 40k kms on it too

This was one of 4 cars I test drove recently - I didn’t cut it for me. No full hybrid option, fuel efficiency wasn’t great, wasn’t convinced that the 1.5L engine would cope well with 4 adults in the car. Hated that stupid screen with everything being accessed through, and to top it all it was bloody expensive. I’m U.K. based - in the end I bought a Tucson N Line S, much better value.

The prrevious gen had better designed front cup holders, which twisted out and could be hidden when not used so could double as a big cubby, this nonsense with all these removable parts only encourage more things to get lost through the passage of time. Cost cutting pure as day than actual innovation

I have a T Roc R 2024 and that freaking piano black finishes are the bane of my life. Finger print magnets and scratch so easy. Also but this is subject to taste, I don’t like the new styling especially the front (throughout the range) the grille gaps are so big and you can see all the dead insects on the radiator and intercoolers and that huge expanse of black grille makes it look like a toothless cartoon dragon and the shininess of it makes it look cheap. Also don’t like the light bar joining the 2 rear tail lamps, the copying the cheaper imports.

I mean its different perspective. New Tiguan has much more depth and integrity in its chassis, damper tech and refinement compared to Mazda CX5. Also its more roomy while being same dimensions. On the other hand, CX5(in Europe) is 15% cheaper, has same quality materials and easier to use cabin with no touch bullshit, bit more oldschool nice in a way. Also CX5 should be more reliable 5+ years on, but for 5 year lease Tiguan is superb option compared to competition.
