Just to contribute a bit to the mind meld with regards to Anatta it's important to remember that the cycle of rebirth in Buddhism is sort of an affliction, it is symptomatic of our ignorance. The teaching of Anatta or non-self to me is a part of the remedy, throughout our lives we should learn to recognize those moments of self-making and self-cherishing. Not walk around like we aren't real and nothing matters but to be mindful of the ways we identify with and cling to concepts and objects as a result of this self-making/cherishing. The Buddha actually stated explicitly that to believe there is no self, or to believe there is a self are both assertions which are not helpful -- and the question itself leads into what he calls a 'thicket of views' which leads to confusion and will halt spiritual progression (I am paraphrasing here, if you want the specific sutta I can try to find it.) Also and this just occurred to me and I am now compelled to look up more specifically on this but to paraphrase what I have heard several times from various sources - As you know the Buddha acknowledges the existence of the gods insofar as we exist so do they -- within samsarra, and a part of the cycle. Throughout our beginningless wanderings through Samsarra we will actually *be* and *have been* them according to Buddhism just like we have all been mothers and dear to each other in every imaginable way throughout innumerable lives. But there is one god specifically who actually believes himself to be the ultimate creator god (he isn't, according to the Buddha,) he is mistaken. He too is afflicted by ignorance and subject to Samsara and a product of dependent origination. Could this be the Buddha's response to Atman? As if to say okay you have reached the ultimate height of selfdom -- now let it go and truly see the Buddha Nature which is presumably unconditioned by any concept of self or subjectivity.

1:12:22 “non-dual truth” being mentioned next to “the light” made me think of the question as to whether light is a wave or a particle. Of course, the better question is whether it’s a waving particle or a particular wave ;) Keep the mind-melds comin, man!

Excellent discussion. Having been raised Catholic, that is the context through which I compare, contrast, and analyze matters of faith and mysticism. The line from Matthew about coming with a sword is a great example of truly analyzing the gospel intelligently. Loved it.

The silence part with Ramana was also the presence of the guy. What is presence? They say when you are in the same room as someone like that you feel it. Like being high, or something. Indeed, Sam Harris of all people says similar things about being in the same room as Papaji. We in the West, expecially the we of today behind our screens can never understand the silence

It's not surprising to me that Yogananda and Campbell saw paralells between Jesus's sword statement and the Buddhist deity with his flaming sword. There is speculation that Jesus and/or his followers may have travelled to India via the silk road. People may like to check out the work of Elaine Pagels on early Christianity, discussing this stuff, the Nag Hammadi scrolls etc.

Have you studied the symbols used in the ceremonial magick systems of the west? Specifically the Golden Dawn? Israel Regardie is a great source for that. His giant volume titled Golden Dawn is essential. The magicians end game goal is to merge his consciousness with God. This is the exact same thing as absorption in Nirvana aka annihilation in Buddhism. Or the Atman returning to Brahma in Brahmanism. The drop returning to the ocean. This is also what is meant by samadhi, or cosmic consciousness.

I'm familiar with Regardie, and the GD system to some extent, yes! Not an expert, but I'm familiar with a lot of the basics and some of the practices.

The Word of Truth is ever faithful (loyal, true, isomorphic) to Reality (That which is/That I am). The abstract (Heaven) called Love can be expressed concretely (Earth) as a smile, hug, etc., thereby uniting Heaven and Earth. Empty of ego (separateness) = Full of Life. God = Life

Have you looked into the ancient wisdom tradition of Brahmanism? This is the trunk that every single major religion today branches off from. I highly recommend looking deeply into the parallels of ancient Brahmanism with ancient Judaism.

Honestly, what is the difference between Helen Schucman and Joseph Smith? ACIM appeals to people because of its coursebook and lengthy format. Hmmm, Book of Mormon? Honestly, what is the difference? I think a severe analysis of the end of Helen's life is in order as the critique from many about this book (including my own personal one) is that it is a fancy way of training disassociation through doublespeak to repress what we as humans are meant to feel and experience here on Earth. Then to label that as "spiritual." That was easy. Look at the comments and posts in the subreddit for ACIM. A lot of the people there seem unhappy, disassociated, and repressed. But not in a dark night of the soul kind of way. I believe the length and coursebook format of this book just aids the more skeptical scientific minds to believe it's legitimate because, well, it's detailed. Detail isn't a reason to believe something. I can't help but equate ACIM to the Book of Mormon. Let's just begin with "it was intuited." I'm not saying truth cannot be intuited, but we seriously have to raise an eyebrow, keep it raised, and do a lot of research, including intuitive research on texts like these. I'm not convinced. I think ACIM can go in the trash with the Book of Mormon and all of Joseph Smith's downloads. I'm sure a lot of people will not like my two cents here. Also, to share a personal side note, I watched a close friend of over 10 years get involved with ACIM, and now she seems so toxic positive and of this "nothing exists" mindset. She's isolated herself, and I feel I've lost a dear friend. Not too unlike Helen Schucman and the other followers I've observed that have benefitted from this lengthy "course." Another side note: I love the channel, thank you.

I've drawn a lot of connections between ACIM and Joseph Smith as well. People fall for Mormism because there is truth in it. That's what makes it so believable. I'm not saying that it is true. The techniques are similar because they work. I think the difference would be that it depends on what the person putting the teachings out there is trying to gain. It's obouse that Joseph Smith was trying to traffic women and gain power and money, using esoteric truths to make that gain. Also, it brings out what is in the person. One might think they e reached a level of truth and without others being there to hold them accountable, that person might run with where they are at. ACIM, let's the person do this on their own, reaching only a potential that they can bring themselves to. Others who teach it can accomplish what J.S. did. Cults can arise from it, if one dosen now have decernmemt. This is why this knowledge goes underground throughout history. People's ability to abuse the knowledge from it, from their own gains and level of understanding. I would know what to do about those particular outcomes, but i think that's why the knowledge becomes hidden from time to time.

Through "A Course In Miracles" the Holy Spirit saved my life. There is a good book called "The Absence of Felicity" by Kenneth Wapnick which is all about the life of Helen Schuman. Helen was only the scribe of ACIM. The author is Jesus Christ and you can know this by recognizing the egoless Voice and by the fact that you can authenticate "Truth" within your own being. ✨✨😊😊✨✨

You're podcast is a beacon lamp sounding through the foggy bay. Words are 2 worlds away but, why do they cause us to kill, love, sing and laugh? Why are we spellbound by the timing of Robin Williams the Great? How can we, for just a moment, look through the hour glass and still the sands of time? Love every moment, happiness is only real when you gather a good crew of friends and visit old friends in Peru. Name a spider on a log just as one would a dog. May we choose to laugh instead of die. Find love and share it for you and me.

I see this “reality” as the Unreality. More or less a simulation. It behaves like one. Look at the phenomena of synchronicity for example. It’s exactly like The Kybalion says: this reality is a paradox. It’s both real AND not real. But there’s an underlying reality behind the veil that is eternal and therefore actually real. You have read the Kybalion right? Anyone interested in Hermetic Philosophy needs that book in their life close at hand at all times.

I think it's a compliment ☺️ I've accepted that a large percentage of people simply can't be helped. At least, at this point in time. So I don't bother trying to convince them. The key is to not be dismissive of people be default. That obviously has its drawbacks.

I think Third eye drops is getting closer to the truth than any other on the internet or even academia. What's missing here is Tantra, either from the Buddhist or hindu traditions. @@THIRDEYEDROPS Thankyou, listening to his podcast with you as I type this. Would reccomend the youtube channel @adhyatmikta run by a 'sadhak', a spiritual aspirant of exceptional calibre and great ability to communicate the difficult concepts of the Indian tantric path. His name is Rajashri Nandy. The problem with the other genuine 'siddhas' in the Hindu tradition is their inability to convey their ideas in a modern language which can break the ice with even modern Hindus like me. Would love to see a podcast with the two of you.
