I had a friend who lived on that street in the 80's. There was not a single shop or restaurant nearby. He lived in an unfinished building, it did not have plumbing, he had to install it himself. He had a whole floor to himself, paid 1000 dollars a month, because cabs wouldn't even take you there at night! Imagine how much things have changed!
@mrvk39

$1,000 a month was a TON of money in the 1980s! that wasn't cheap at all....even for a 4,000 square feet space.
@Quantum36911
@Quantum36911 2 жыл бұрын
@@mrvk39 Well, relative to today it is. Especially since it was probably closer to 10,000 sq.ft. He rented out studio space to friends on one side, and built a half-pipe for skateboarding on the other. Those parties would last 3 days!

An amazing find!!! That living space is massive. I’m not sure I would know what to do with all (wish I could find out😉). Normally I’m not a fan of the industrial look but here it works. There’s not a lot of large exposed duct work (main reason I’m not a fan of industrial). The brick walls are always a favorite and the wood beams with the metal are really nice 👍🏽. The full metal kitchen (appliances & cabinets) is not something I would have thought to do but really works well here. There is a nice balance to this unit. My only tweak would be to change the curtain hiding the w/d to sliding doors - wood & metal to go with the living room beams. I am little surprised this is a rental. Looks more like a unit I would expect to be for sale.

Once again a beautiful apartment! But beauty is in the eye of the beholder. The only one I've ever seen you come up with that looks totally hideous but it could be worked with is the one look like the janitor kills someone in it! Every apartment can be made livable! In fact that can be made home. This one however is nice for the up-and-coming people! I think my style is the older buildings like the elevator building that was maybe 1920s. I think that all comes from the fact that's when my condo was that I bought. Well whatever you show is very very good and you always do a good honest job of showing something! But I did notice that there was a very well lighted closet! That is a big plus take care of yourself and your family keep up the good work and remember New York is only slumbering and you'll be ready when it's ready to Roar back to life

Love it! This is the perfect space for a live/work startup or creative; you could put the work space in the dining area, the media room, or over by the bedroom door area, depending on who and how many, I hope there's a pocket door there, where it leads past the walk in and into the bedroom. Kinda near the Holland Tunnel, but I guess 6th Ave is far enough over for it not to be an issue? PROS: gorgeous, so design-y, and I love an open plan - although I'm never a fan of exposed brick. Excellent kitchen space (whaaat? no wine fridge?) CONS: the brushed stainless cabinets are a bit clinical - if even the uppers were like a hi-gloss grey, or blonde wood, it would feel better. Also a larger overhang on the counter that backs to the media area would allow usable seating there. And the convection stovetop has to go. The bedroom flooring feels kinda cold; wood would be better, although of course you'd put rugs. I do like the mixed wall coverings in there. Overall, I think it's successful bc it melds industrial elements with a sleek modern vibe. And yes, the closet would be all mine, lol.

The industrial style spacious type loft is EXACTLY what I’m looking for if move to New York, and funny enough, 10k is actually my budget for a New York move just to have that type of live/work space.

I’ll take it. Lol Definitely not a “ kitchen table “ space, but a Dining Room table space. A farmhouse table with benches on both sides and some awesome chairs at either ends would be fantastic there. Of course I am a country girl so it would be farmhouse decorated.

That's gorgeous. I've never even made that much money in a month but, for that amount of space, 10K is actually less than what I'd think it could get, especially for the location. And I never do the bath thing; a massive walk-in shower is totally on my bucket list. It would be perfect for someone with a small-ish startup, so they could then write off some of that rent. That is, if we can still do that, who knows.
