I remember when these 1969 Cadillacs were Brand New. I spent a lot of time at a particular Cadillac Oldsmobile dealer in the late 1960's..into the 1970's. The smooth, quiet ride, the cool, quiet, air conditioning the beauty and scent of the Ostrich grained leather. The smooth power of the 472 Cadillac V-8 was awesome! There was nothing better!!!

The local Cadillac dealer here had been in business since like 1910. If you bought one from them they would kiss your ass and polish your knob endlessly. Oh, would madame like to have here hair styled during the oil change? And let use clean the inside and outside and wax the car no charge. Make those whitewalls shine. Please partake of out complimentary smorgasboard as you please. They were a great dealer. Out of business now. The other Cadillac dealer in town was caught defrauding the Feds on parts purchases and they were all thrown in jail.

Back in my youth, there was a funeral home on my street, & I would love to see the Cadillac hearses & Cadillac Sedan De Villes, all lined up at the home or churches, from 1958-1967, all matching midnight blue & all the funeral home staff wearing midnight blue attire. Now the funeral home equipment is black, the staff wears black, the families wear black, how are u supposed to know who's who?, but those were the good ol' days & I wish they would come back.

I Remember when these 1969 Cadillacs were brand new in September, 1968, and I was completely appalled at the black plastic instrument cluster! The 1967 and 1968 Cadillacs had a metal, chrome instrument cluster. However, compared to what GM markets as a "Cadillac" today, the 1969 Cadillac looks better than GM could ever come up with again! Back in 1969, GM gave you a wide choice of colors, interior, and exterior..Not so today!

The 71 GM models was the beginning of the plastic interiors from door panels to the dashboard. That cheapened the appearance. Little did we know 25+ years later car bodies would be made from a new plastic merged with metal that would crack like glass when in an accident.

The crest on the trunk was modified at some point. Originally it would have been mounted with a small spring loaded pivot. You would rotate the crest up to reveal the trunk lock. The pivot and spring probably gave up years ago so the solution was to drill a hole in the crest and glue it back on. I know this because my parents had one, medium metallic blue with white top and while interior. New England winters killed it long time ago with major rust as most cars did back then in the northeast. This one is in marvelous shape, thanks for showing it......................................................Ok, I just finished watching the video, glad to see you stayed safe in the left turn lane. I always love your caustic sense of humor, but the events of this journey were off the charts funny

We had a '71 Coupe DeVille, it was close to 20' long and got 8 MPG.

Wow, the sheet metal clank of that hood and trunk lid! Long time since I heard ones like that. Yeah the durable transmission. Didn't Rolls and Bentley go with some of those? Greetings from Toronto Bill, I'm all chipper about your renewed channel

Yes, I've heard Rolls used the TH400 trans too back in the day because it was so good. I currently own a '76 Coupe De Ville and recently sold a GMC 1-ton pickup I owned for 30 years with the same transmission. Clearly, the best shifting, most reliable transmission I've ever experienced. My current, and far more modern vehicles aside from the Cadillac, provide better fuel economy, but have annoying shift characteristics. I hope they hold together like the TH400 does.

My father bought a 1970 Sedan Deville in 1972. It was green with camel leather and a black vinyl top. He decided he could buy a two year old Cadillac for the same price as a brand new Caprice. He bought it from an estate. The original owner had passed away. The car was extremely low mileage. The owner's son told dad that his father never drove the car over 45 mph. Even on the interstate. I remember the car hiccupping and chugging while my dad floored the accelerator and let off all the way home, attempting to burn carbon off the plugs. He finally got it running good. My dad drove the car 80mph on the interstates. We would take long Sunday drives every week, going down the roads less traveled. What great memories.

Tire probably blew because of low air pressure. Hey Bill you could have just filled it up before you left on test drive with your abundance of hot air ! Hindsight 2020.

One of my favorite Cars of all time. Two door or four door. Love the front lazy boy seats.
