A million thank you's for taking us down the lane of memories Bill. Having owned a 76 Cartier and a 78 Bill Blass in the mid 1990's I can attest to the sheer joy it is to drive these behemoth beauties. As far as the patina goes, please keep her in the "driven" state to further add to her future story. There is not a single car made today to rival the fantastic styling and experience you get behind the wheel of a 70's Lincoln Continental. Cheers from Canada !

Challenger Hellcat Widebody? Product of Canada, Have you ever been experienced? My mother had a 76 LTD 4dr 400in3 2 bbl. It was a very fine car to party in and comfortable, good stealth factor. I drifted it through someone's wooden fence holding a Heineken. Didn't spill a drop. I remember driving past the next day and the guy was tearing down his remaining fence, he gave me a dirty look. Thanksgiving 1978. That car was a tank. I remember my Challenger falling off of 2 stacked cinder blocks trying to change the clutch in 10-deg weather. I was sure it hit the LTD which was brand new, Somehow there was no purple marks on the white Ford. And my dad didn't come out into the garage. I jacked each corner until I had a block under each tire, & then I did it again. Amazing that he even let me pull my car in the garage. His mistake, he should have made me do it out in the snow, I had energy back then, but I was a dumb 16yr old. with a $800 70 340 4 sp shaker plum crazy Challenger. Proof of god's existence. Car was in the Pennysaver 4 miles from my house and i had exactly $800.

I imported into the UK a 1975, 26,000 miles cream puff Mark IV in 2007. And what a luxo barge it was. Moondust Ginger paint. White leather interior with a brown shag pile carpet. Totally different driving style needed. Country lanes, overtaking and petrol stations where very hair raising 😂but at the car shows this car cleaned up. Never drove away without a cup or plaque. Just the most luxurious car. I live in Australia now and this would be the perfect car for ocean side driving. Thanks for the memories Bill.

I agree. Re-dye the armrest & get another door pull. Bill can put the original in a big ziplock bag & put it in the glove box so it stays with the car. The rest of the interior looks so flawless, I'd be fixated by it while driving. I had a 77 Mercury Grand Marquis Brougham with a 400 in that same dove gray color. Beautiful car !!! A few corrections… the hoses you see surrounding and connecting near the master cylinder are part of the Hydroboast power steering. Nothing to do with antilock brakes. Also, these most certainly do NOT have rear leaf springs, but coil springs on each corner. And those styled wheels are cast polished aluminum. The center caps are chromed pot metal held on by I believe three screws if memory serves me right. Just a little FYI. VERY gorgeous car and great review as always. I echo what you said here that these were/are THE car to have. My favorite though is the 69-71 Mark llls. I’ve owned a 1970 Mark lll since 1985!!!! I intend on dying with it in my possession !!!! Thanks for making my night Bill

Bill I love your Lincoln videos, they just make my day! I was just looking the other day to see if you had one on the Mark IV and then boom here one gets posted today. These cars have so much class & character. Growing up my grandfather owned a 1976 Continental sedan that I was fascinated with. I would surmise this is where my passion for Lincolns came from as I have owned a 2000 LS, 2004 Navigator, & 2007 MKZ. Currently have a 2017 Continental as my daily driver, which is a fantastic car & totally overlooked, underappreciated. Looking to add a last gen Town Car & Mark V to the collection someday.

"My" car, finally. I have driven my 1975 since 2002. I bought it in Cape Coral, not too far from you, and shipped it home. It is the closest you get to an "old money" car in/from the US. 18:08 Unlike most other FoMoCo cars with concealed headlights, it operates with a single vacuum motor, why the covers always follow each other. 18:49 The wheels are solid aluminium. 19:44 The sunroof was available with a full vinyl roof as well. 23:20 The trunk is very limited for a car this size. It takes a medium hard suitcase and a large soft sports bag. That is it. 24:49 Key lock for the hood is optional and comes with a key lock for the spare tire as well!! 26:23 Rear springs are coil and not leaf. 26:45 Four wheel disc brakes became standard in 1975. Anti lock brakes on the rear, called Safe Track Brakes, was standard. 38:04 Trunk release in the glove box was standard. 39:25 Remote controlled mirrors with cable was standard. Not power operated. 41:15 If the steering is not fine, put a new power steering gearbox in it, and you will be amazed. I bought mine with 97K miles on it and have passed 122K miles.

So glad you mentioned Frank Cannon I used to love watching the cars on that show in particular the mark 4. Back then I had my own business detailing cars and you are spot on the people that owned the Lincoln's the Lincoln's especially the marks were very different than Cadillac owners. The mark owners were the guys who owned the bars and restaurants in Pittsburgh they all call each other compe or cuz. Italian for cousin. So happy we're not looking at pickup trucks and Ford Thunderbirds is underbirds. Just saying.....:) However, when I used to be in the car business, we had a saying "There is an A** for every seat, and this one is for you!"

Hers were much more plush and padded. All were electric. Had solid polished wheels each weighed almost 75lbs. Dead quiet inside and out.. Was fun to cruise the highways and visit the gas stations. Pain in the ass to wash polish and wax. Radio was a Ford factory but had cassette not 8 track. Auto temp control headlight dimmers. Apart from routine services sound machine. Ma and Pa kept for about 9 years. It was a special order and I've never seen that paint combo since. Hand laid pinstripe on the beige, sable parting line, option.

First & only family vacation was in February 1973, upstate NY to central FL east & west coast. Main vehicles we saw were Lincoln Mark IV, silver with silver padded vinyl roof & cranberry interior. They seemed to be everywhere. Jambalaya song on what seemed to be every radio station ... Also, Cadillac Sedan DeVilles & Fleetwoods were also in abundance. Came into possession of a Cadillac hood ornament at a motel we stayed at ... Believe I still have that in NY somewhere. Have been a central NY resident since 2007. Also seen all over the place on 1973 vacation were Volkswagen Beetles/Super Beetles & Type 2 Baywindow vans. Lincoln could have huge sales if brought back the Mark IV retro style with today's technologies & creature comforts

John Fogerty was stuck in a contract dispute when he did that Jambalaya song (on which he played most of the instruments), so the label read "Blue Ridge Rangers". That was one of the best country-rock albums ever recorded. I used to drive past there almost daily and my in-laws lived less than a mile from them. I came very close to buying one of those Marks in 1988 but decided against it. Sweeter than sugar! It couldn't have started any better than with some Country playing! Bill, you're the greatest!

JUST A NOTE, To clean the SEAT BELTS they must be removed from the car Stretched out and clamped at each end then soaked in water with dish washer pods only light gentle Scrubbing . If you scrub too hard your belts will look like a fuzzy sweater I soaked mine for days They look brand new. the clear vinyl part will fog up try to avoid getting that wet

You are absolutely correct that the Mark iv looks better in person than in photo or film. That said, you did a great job showcasing this one!

I was waiting for the blinker. My aunt had a IV (well every model that came out) brought back memories. Thanks, missed hearing that blinker tone.
