Great vid. I believe that this year GT500 actually does have a limited slip diff. I own one and I think the GT500 owners manual supplement says it. Also the 07-09 GT500s have the ceramic coated twin disc transmission which is more exotic than the later models. Its expensive and super heavy clutch is why Ford probably stopped using it. It makes a cool hissing sound when u let out the clutch.

Those GT500's drive like BOATS! Not as bad as a heavy luxury car, as far as performance tuning goes, but certainly not as good as the 08-09 GT500KR's or the 07-09 Super Snakes. You can lighten the car by stripping it down by removing the back seats, the AC, etc. You can also change out stock parts for lighter aftermarket parts and improve the suspension setup to make a pretty decent handler, give it steeper gears, improve the torque curve and bump the rev limiter with tuning, otherwise, the 07-09 GT500 is best at what it was created to do - be a straight line dominant muscle car in the traditional sense. Back in the 60s and 70s, the muscle car versions of each model were the ones that came with the engines that produced the most horsepower. So, a Mustang GT may not have been considered a muscle car, but the GT500 certainly was. I'd say these GT500's are a decent offering from the factory with a lot of potential left on the planning table. Something I feel they partially addressed with the KR and Super Snake models.

Awesome Shelby my friend! I just recently picked up an unmolested Shelby GT 500 performance white with Vista blue stripes with only 1098 miles on it. I did replace the original tires and battery due to safety concerns. Plans are to maintain it and occasional spirited driving.
