The built-in oil cooler on the CSF radiator drops oil pressure by approximately 20 psi.

why is this? are the ports too big? too much capacity? do other external oil coolers suffer from this but to a lesser extent?

@@TDT0188 My understanding from the manufacturer is this is an element of the compact cooler core design used for this package. Turbulence is used to cool the oil as it passes through the core. The external Setrab core based solutions usually have approximately 1 psi pressure drop across them.

Hey Tanner, I believe the hks belt is Kevlar which has different spacing specs for the guides. This was not touched in the video and just wanted to give you the heads up. Abuddy just had his Kevlar belt snap because he kept the oem guide and had it to tight. It eventually ate through the belt. I believe the spacing should be 1mm for Kevlar and 0.5mm for an oem timing belt.

@bryanr932 жыл бұрын
400 is pushing it on the stock internals. He knows he’s going to blow the engine, he’s just looking for an excuse to build it. He’s basically showing everyone what a stock WRX block and transmission can do before he turns it into a better STi. If you want your car to be reliable and not implode, you’ll have to build the engine (and get a 6 speed trans) if you want 450HP. If you tune it to 310-340 then you can keep it stock.
@Smeedia2 жыл бұрын
As said, I wouldent push a wrx past like 350whp if you want it to last. I'm going to 100% blow mine up. If you want testable power you will ,have to build your engine. Only reason I resealed it was to make sure we had no leaks

Totally off topic for your video but I have a serious question/problem. My new top tier closed deck, pinned mains, billet crank, built heads engine from Outfront lost all oil pressure at the track suddenly. Has a new Killer B oil pan and pick-up, 11mm pump from Outfront. I've had zero oiling issues and keep an AEM gauge in the car for pressure and temp. Was 1st pass of my 1st race, hit the rev limiter in 3rd and dropped the clutch hard on a flat foot shift in 4th. That's when the oil light came on and the AEM gauge read zero. Pulled turbo oil feed line in the pits and nothing. Motor has 1500 break-in/tune miles on it, making just over 900whp at 43psi through a 6870, rev limiter set to 8300 so nothing super crazy for this motor. Most likley cause I think would be the oil pump pressure relief valve but I'm not sure it has the capacity to bypass 100% of the oil pressure the pump generates. Could also be that the pick-up snapped off but that would be wild, same goes for the pump keyways shearing off.... Any insight would be greatly appreciated, super expensive motor and I'm pretty confident it will need a refresh at a minimum after 8k rpms and no oil pressure. Worst case the billet crank and heads are also smoked from oil starvation.
@Smeedia2 жыл бұрын
Fuuuuuck, sorry to hear. I'd definitely start with the oil pump and work my way in. I haven't seen a killer B pick it snap before but anything could be possible I guess. If it were me I'd tear the pump down tk start with, pull the pan and check the pick it. It's rare to see but excess sealant is always a possibility on the pan. Some squeeze out can fall in the pan and clog the pick up too
@PleadTheFifth_Racing2 жыл бұрын
@@Smeedia All great feedback, thank you Tanner. Vince Griffin said they had a oil pump pressure valve stick in the Eggplant race car and it ended up being fine after swapping pumps. But losing all OP at 8k definitely not gonna be good on the cam journals, crank and rod bearings.

Any plans on adding an external oil cooler?
@paulkorobkov36582 жыл бұрын
The bottom half of his new CSF radiator has it built in just has to plumb in the lines to it. I've seen this on trucks but not reg cars.
@Smeedia2 жыл бұрын
Going to try the caf oil cooler that's built into the radiator 🤝

Why not the OEM throw out? I have the ACT throw out and after a year it starting to make lots of noise. I'm going back to OEM hopefully that fixes the chatter.

I already had an ACT one sitting around, did not wanna buy another 😅

When you finally got the blue subie together, were you scared to get it tuned? Although I trust my tuner wholeheartedly, it's so nerve racking!

Does the haltech display on blue have knock learn and feedback knock like the ap? Or do you occasionally log and just trust the tune?

How necessary is the company23 timing tool needed? And same for the one I saw used to keep flywheel in place. I’ll be doing this process pretty soon.

It's not 1000000% Needed, BUT it will 100% make your life better

Just out of curiosity, is there any technical reason that you chose the Grimmspeed BB turbo over the Precision BB stock location Subaru turbo? I remember that you opted for Precision Turbo for the EG33 build, and with both the Grimmspeed and Precision Subaru offerings being similarly priced, I kinda expected that you might've stayed with the brand. I'm currently in the research phase of my own build and leaning toward the Precision 58mm stock location variant, but am willing to revise this plan if the Grimmspeed is the better option.

@smeedia how's your cobb turbo inlet fitment? Mine keeps walking off the turbo every like 2 days from hitting boost. 😒 I have my hose clamp so tight I keep stripping them :( I've noticed the inlet doesn't completely slip all the way over the turbo so I'm guessing that's the main problem..it's a thicc boi.

So far it lines up, I've never used it before so I will have to report back
