Crash bars or engine guards, are always the first accessory I advise riders to put on their motorcycles. Without this simple accessory, even a simple tip-over could cause expensive damage to your motorcycle. In addition, if the bike tips over, it's much easier to pick up when equipped with a crash bar. Also, many thanks to DDFM (DanDanTheFireman), for having me on your podcast. I had a great time speaking with you on your show, here's the link for everyone, • Ride Like A Pro's Jerr...

Ride Like a Pro Jerry Palladino Hey there Jerry, got myself the 2020 Low Rider S, Love it! Added stage IV leather bags, sissy bar, and passenger pillion-all removable (use the sissy bar and pillion to mount my travel kit) 1/4 fairing, moustache eng. bar, and heated grips. My only complaint is the rear brake, it is quite inefficient! I’ve raised it up some but it still is quite slight in doing much, have you found this an issue? I’ve heard others mention this too, and suggest going to forward controls but they don’t interest me. I think the actual geometry of the rod and linkage is the issue, I do hope Harley has a fix for this, do you have any other suggestions? I welcome any answer!! Thank you for all the great Videos!

@@robtremain7210 Yes I noticed the rear brake to be very weak as well. I have no idea why. What sissy bar did you get? I'd like to add one but I want a high sissy bar like the one they have for the Street Bob. So far, I haven't found one.

Thank you for this video Jerry. My wife and I put this bar on her 2021 LRS after seeing the video, and it was very simple. Same bike setup from 2020, same bar fit. The only two things I did differently were, I used a 5/32” flathead punch to get the plastic plugs out. Just center it over the outside cap, and give it a good quick tap with a hammer. Also, the bolt package we got came with a keeper nut (wizz nut) for the top center bolt. No need for a wrench behind it, just hold it with a finger as you tighten it up. Our bottom two bolts are 3/8” - 9/16” standard bolts vs. the Allen head which came with yours. Thank you again for the video. Keep ‘em coming 👍

Nice video! I just ordered a crash bar for my 2007 Harley Dyna. I took the beginner rider course a few weeks ago and laid down the training bike trying to stop in a corner LOL. So I thought it was a good idea to get something for my bike too. I actually got the one that has the U bolts so I can install it with forward controls. I also got the chrome instead of the black. Not only can these save your bike but they can also save your leg if you lay down your bike.

I’ve always found it to be a good practice when installing anything into a new mounting feature, such as when you installed the crash bar, to run all fasteners through their threaded holes first without the accessory. It often clears up any threads and aids with any “too close” positioning between fasteners and accessories. Sure it takes a little longer but like I said it speed up the install and eliminates errors. Try this and see if you agree. Thanks
@motorman857

Good looking bike but In my opinion the Mustache Engine Guard only looks good from the front but at any other angle not so much. I installed the regular one wich looks relatively good from any angle. Plus I can attach the HD soft lowers on it. I understand using wd40 for running in a bolt to clean up the threads but it would have been prudent to clean off the WD40 and used Loctite in the final installation. The top bolt was the troublesome one to run into the hole for me. The hole in the bars were just a tiny bit misaligned downward from the frame hole and of course the limited space to grab the nut in back. Great vids :)

Nice!, just wondering if HD will ever black anodize their hardware. Blacked out bike - blacked out bolts/nuts?!?! Or am I crazy?! Also, IMHO, the sweep on those crash bars should go back, not forward - this looks like too far for resting your foot/leg, and if it really crashes, just seems that it will bend forward. The weight of the bike is more back - due to the engine, yet the bar are sticking out forward. Just my couple of thoughts! cheers
