I am Tom Saguto, PGA Member and founder of SagutoGolf. Thank you for visiting my instructional page where you can find how to get on the fast track to improving your golfing abilities. Whether you are a seasoned golfing veteran looking for a quick swing tune-up after an on-course emergency, or a beginner just looking to get the most out of your golfing experience, I am here to help you achieve your golfing goals.
My mission as your swing doctor is simple, to help you maximize your enjoyment in game of golf. Because, let’s face it, golf is a hard game.
My philosophy is wholly based on the student having a fun, meaningful experience in a frustrating and complicated game where potential lifelong golfers either quit because it is too difficult or that they experience some form of swing-related pain or discomfort. I mitigate these problems by focusing entirely on the student’s needs and goals while teaching a golf swing method that ultimately takes stress off of the common pain areas of the swing.

I started watching Tom's videos a few months ago in hope of finding a simple way to teach my wife how to play golf. Along the way, I realized that Saguto Golf could help simplify my swing, and enable me to get past the overthinking that had ruined my game in the past. For the first couple of months, I looked like a raw beginner at the range, as I hit one awful shot after another. But I persisted, and continued to watch these videos, applying the ideas I learned along the way. On my last several range trips, I've been hitting crispy shots about 75-80% of the time. I'm having so much fun with it, that I'm getting to the range a few days a week just to experience the joy of solid ball striking. And all this is after playing golf for around 60 years! So thanks Tom.

I have just recently started watching Tom's instructional videos after finding myself with a head full of loads of different instructors and managing to completely lose my golf swing along the way and every shot seemed to be a combination of conflicting swing thoughts, so thanks Tom and for the straight forward pearls of wisdom where every part is broken down in easy to understand sections , one issue I appear to have is swaying on my backswing and then hitting a pull hook. I'm sure you have covered this already so will keep watching and learning

Really enjoying your videos Tom. Unfortunately it's winter here in New Zealand so my practice time is very limited. I can't wait to get out and try tilting more. My weekend ball striking was better because I'm trying to stay over the ball and not sway during the backswing. Now I need to tilt to get a better move to the top of my swing. Thanks mate.

Excellent video Tom on your Magic Swing Move! I have been using this move for a few months now after viewing your "watermelon" video and it is coming along quite nicely! yes, excellent. i use my air resistance implement to get the feeling of the clubface facing the sky thru the shot. it is very hard to swing the club thru with any force and stop the club when it is facing the sky; but, with the implement the air resistance helps you to hold the position of the face and stop your swing when the face of the implement is facing the sky.

Tom, I watch these tips all the time. This really is the best tip I’ve ever received. The only thing I done different was to hit a smash bag {easy} so my hands didn’t break down when I eventually struck a ball. Best outcome…… I don’t slice the driver anymore as the head is square at impact. My irons are really good now {was the best part of my game} even better now! I will give you an update when I submit new cards for my handicap and tell you what my old HC was! THIS WORKS AND EASY TO REPLICATE - Thank-You ps still think your crazy 🤣

I'm glad this lesson resonated with you. I do my best to convey multiple feels or thoughts throughout the swing wherever possible because we're all different physiologically and psychologically, and something that resonates effectively with one golfer may not necessarily work for another. However, no matter the variety of suggested feels/thoughts offered for a particular element of the swing, they are all directed at getting different golfers to achieve the same desired positions, motions, and ball striking results. This one reason is why the comprehensive, structured, sequential learning platform of my online school is so effective, and why so many folks across the globe are now enjoying the best golf of their lives as a result. The lessons and drills provide the guidelines and set the boundaries, while providing ample leeway for each individual golfer to infuse and exercise their own uniqueness. Have been recovering from knee replacement since April. Went to range yesterday for first time, and I was trying S&T swing for the first time. Only focused on weight forward and shoulder under chin. Felt like I was doing a reverse shift at first, but what a difference these 2 changes made in my contact! I didn't hit every ball perfectly, but the majority of my iron shots were solid as a rock! Thanks, Tom!

great video...I also like your completed follow thru with the club looking like an arrow thru your head...why don't your irons have a similar follow thru?
@SagutoGolf
@SagutoGolf Жыл бұрын
Actually, I probably let my upper arm connections get a little loose with the driver in this video, resulting in the longer follow through. The irons likely demonstrated more of the stock finish position for this swing system, though there is considerably more speed with the driver so we would expect it to take longer to put the brakes on. Have a look at Mike Bennett with the driver for a visual on this: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bZfQpa2vfZilqaM Tom

Sup Tom? I think this drill and the basketball throwing drill from a previous video gave me another aha moment at the range today. They got me thinking about what the hell to do with my lead arm as I come down. Previously I had legitimately no idea what to do with it when I came down, and as a result I was panicking a lot and casting my hands super early, fatting the crap out of the ball if I hit it at all. Now I think of tucking my right shoulder under and using my right hand to kinda push the club, and therefore the ball, through. Dunno if that's the perfect way to think about it, but towards the end of my session I was getting some good contact on some old Ben Hogan blades (radials and apex iis) so I guess I'm on the right path lol. Thanks for everything you do man, when I get paid next I'm definitely gonna sign up. I'm having way too much fun not to.

Awesome! I'm glad this lesson and the watermelon/basketball drill resonated so well with you. There are no universally "perfect" feels. An effective, repeatable golf swing is best built on a compilation of personal "feels" that are unique to each of us individually, and when combined together produce the desired ball striking and shot shape results. Over time we ingrain these feels into a complete motion that we can execute without need for mechanical thoughts. By the way, here's a lesson on Mr. Hogan's "Magic Elbow" that may gel nicely with what you are working on: kzbin.info/www/bejne/n32ciKCHbLCmo6c Keep up the great work, and I look forward to seeing you soon in the online school! First off, I'm a little over 60, retired, have oste-arthritis in the spine, so pain and limited backswing, limited practice, but now time on my hands. I've tried several online teachers, but they become so complex I usually suffer from information overload. I might be able to hit my driver nicely, but take it to the course and I fail, or I could hit my short irons but not my long irons at all. Highly inconsistent in all clubs anyway. So, recently I discovered your site, and been watching them closely. I'm loving the THEORY behind them. Simplicity! Not much movement should mean more consistency for me, once I work it out (hopefully). I had my first go last week on the golfing range, and only 75 balls, so not a high sample size. I struggled, if the truth be told, for at least 40 shots, barely hitting many of them. Topping was the worst culprit. In the last 35 I did manage a few very nice shots, but not very many. I had a go at the driver, and well that was a complete disaster, so I will have to revisit that soon and persist. Keep up the great work! ( Not related to your lessons, but I do have a very interesting side issue of playing golf in a VR (Virtual Reality) headset at home which negatively affects the ability to swing a real club, because it affects memory muscle issues of the club being light in game, making the real golf club feel heavy in person, leading to topping. I can actually practice your method in the game though funny enough.)

A significant percentage of my students and online school members are in their 60's, 70's, and 80's - i.e.: a smorgasbord of chronic ailments, physical limitations, back/shoulder/knee/hip pain, and joint replacements - and they are overwhelmingly elated to experience the dramatic pain-free game improvement, seemingly effortless power, and resulting enjoyment that this swing affords them. It all begins with a proper setup which provides for a free-flowing motion. Upon that good foundation a repeatable swing which produces consistently crispy impact can be built. Have you considered the comprehensive, structured, sequential learning platform of my online school? That's where - among many other courses and lessons covering various aspects of the game - you will find very detailed instruction and drills that take you through the entire swing step-by-step from setup to finish. So many folks across the globe are now enjoying the best golf of their lives as a result. Here's a link if you would like to know more about the school - saguto.golf - and here's a link to my free mini-course “The Top 3 Things You Need to Be a Great Ball Striker” if you’re interested in checking it out: go.saguto.golf/ You don't need the flexibility of a Romanian gymnast - or even that of a far less pliable 28-year-old golf instructor - to execute this swing and experience great ball striking. I hope you'll give the school some thought. Have fun out there in the (non-virtual) golf world!! Tom

I've noticed that SagutoGolf videos always have titles that start with "The Best".There may be other golf instruction videos out there but SagutoGolf is always the best. I figure it's about time they got The Best Comment about SagutoGolf. Every video by SagutoGolf is the same. It's always a repeat of the same swing tips peppered with comments about how Kentucky Fried Chicken Extra Crispy your ball striking will be. Seriously binge watch SagutoGolf and you will realize it's the same thing every time. This concludes The Best Comment on SagutoGolf videos ever. Thank You.
@SagutoGolf

LOL! Thanks for that Best Comment, Keith! It's like this - we can either simply put the already existing natural laws to work for us, or we can twist, morph, torque, contrive, and otherwise mess with the principles of physics and geometry in an effort to better suit some ill-conceived whims, all the while recognizing that at the point of impact those pre-existing laws are going to be the only things that matter to the ball! Do I repeat things in various lessons? Absolutely, but always with a purpose, and typically with a different twist or "feel" because we're all different physiologically and psychologically, and something that resonates effectively with one golfer may not necessarily work for another. However, no matter the variety of suggested feels/thoughts offered for a particular element of the swing, they are all directed at getting different golfers to achieve the same desired positions, motions, and ball striking results. This is one reason is why the comprehensive, structured, sequential learning platform of my online school is so effective, and why so many folks across the globe are now enjoying the best golf of their lives as a result. The lessons and drills provide the guidelines and set the boundaries, while allowing ample leeway for each individual golfer to infuse and exercise their own uniqueness. Best wishes for the Best - and, of course, crispiest - golf of your life! Tom

Hi Bob, Without seeing your swing it is nearly impossible for me to offer a proper diagnosis and fix. I can only take a stab at a blind educated guess. Sure, Douglas. The net is approximately 7’ tall and 8’ wide. We used this video as a starting point - kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y6GUYqSpaaplipI - and then made some other minor PVC support structure modifications to suit our needs. We did not use PVC cement as this allows us to easily disassemble it if necessary. The netting we used is 10' x 10' golf cage impact net purchased from Amazon, and it differs from the screening material in the video. (By the way, if using a net like we did you probably won’t need the screw hooks that are mentioned in the video - bungees should suffice.) Also, I have a Real Feel 3x5 Country Club Elite® Golf Mat. You can visit them here - www.RealFeelGolfMats.com. @SagutoGolf
@SagutoGolf Жыл бұрын
Nice work, Paul!! While I don't say it in every lesson, I do regularly emphasize that the first true fundamental of the golf swing is to be able to hit the ground in the same spot every time. As for the driver, it’s essentially the same swing with every club; just some minor setup differences and naturally occurring shaft plane changes as we graduate up in club length from short irons to woods. In fact, here is a video of Stack and Tilt co-founder Mike Bennett hitting the driver: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bZfQpa2vfZilqaM. It looks very similar to his iron swing, right?: kzbin.info/www/bejne/iX3NqIiVZqiWbdE If you search the word "drive" on this channel you'll see some related content. Upon learning this swing properly you will be harnessing the tremendous power source known as "angular momentum". This is the reason my students and online school members of all age ranges end up bombing it farther than they ever had previously. If you search the word "drive" on this channel you'll see some related content. Upon learning this swing properly you will be harnessing the tremendous power source known as "angular momentum". This is the reason my students and online school members of all age ranges end up bombing it farther than they ever had previously. By the way, here's a link to my FREE mini-course “The Top 3 Things You Need to Be a Great Ball Striker” in case you’re interested in learning about the swing in a more structured manner: go.saguto.golf/ Tom

The problem with this drill is I hit the ball further doing this drill then my regular swing!! Lol It makes you realize how important it is to extend the arms. Awesome drill!! I signed up for his program and it’s worth every cent! Every time I go to range I will do this drill. Even before a round.

I did my best to price the school at a "no-brainer" level given the quality and effectiveness of the delivered product, and I sincerely appreciate you recognizing that and taking the time to "shout it from the rooftop"!! Thanks again, keep up the great work, and have fun out there dialing in those new yardages!! Tom

not a three-quarter swing in Jon Rahm's book . Shorter swing for more control & consistency ---great tip and I think I finally get why the driver swing and every other club swing is the same; the right hip right shoulder is rising through impact with head behind the ball and weight forward . Just not quiet sure how high to tee the golf ball for a driver with S & T swing.

Glad you enjoyed the lesson! You can use the same guidance as usual for tee height - halfway up the ball as a baseline. Tom

As a former baseball player I pulled the ball to right field. This habit has come into my golf swing. No matter how great position I am with stack and tilt with proper slot alignment of the shift, my wrist always stay open at impact creating a wicked slice/shank. Any tips for this bad habit I've carried over from the baseball diamond?

Yes - that softball/baseball pull-hitter power swing has caused many a player to struggle immensely with an over-the-top golf swing move, resulting in long straight pulls or big banana slices. It's a stubborn and deeply-ingrained move that can be difficult to eradicate, but with continued deliberate and regularly applied effort you'll get there. Here is a lesson from the archives that may help you to firm up your impact condition: kzbin.info/www/bejne/fJaVnIRqacatgJY Beyond that, there's an entire section of my online school dedicated to resolving common swing, contact, and ball flight issues. Have you looked into it? That's where - among many other courses and lessons covering various aspects of the game - you will find very detailed instruction and drills that take you through the entire swing step-by-step from setup to finish. So many folks across the globe are now enjoying the best golf of their lives as a result. Tom, noticed your grips seem like jumbos, are they and is there a S&T reason?
@SagutoGolf
@SagutoGolf 28 күн бұрын
I was using JumboMax Ultralite grips in extra-large for much of 2022 and the first part of 2023, Mickeal. I had wanted to give them a try for a few reasons, including the fact that DeChambeau uses them and we share similar swing philosophies. I personally liked the feel as well as how they helped to keep my hands quiet through the zone. Now, having said that, I purchased a new set of PXG's in the spring of 2023, and since they don't carry the Jumbo's in-house I went with their largest available grip, which is a midsize. I absolutely love the clubs, and I'm putting the factory grips through the playing test before deciding whether or not to have them regripped. There are no issues with the Jumbos and I still really like the way they feel; that's just where I'm at presently. The Jumbos are not necessarily for everyone - and my fingers are a bit longer than average - so I routinely tell folks to "try before you buy." However, having a properly sized grip that feels both comfortable and secure is critically important as it is our only connection to the object that is going to deliver us blissful joy or deep anguish, yet it is perhaps also the most overlooked equipment fitting component in golf. Tom

Grips should never be neglected as part of an overall fitting session, Steven. For example, after years of playing standard size grips I recently switched to JumboMax extra large grips and love the feel and the way they quiet my hands. But that's me. We all need to figure out what works best for us, and let's not just assume that "standard" is our personal ideal. TS

Dude… duuuude.. 180 yard carry 8 iron. 190 yard 6 iron. Yea this works. 205 yard 5 iron. Swing caddie 300i. For me to get completely to the top. I feel like I load to throw a frisbee with my left hand. This gets my chest facing completely away from the target. It feels like I haven’t finished swinging after contact, which forces the face to stay square. Thanks brosky

How can I make a hitting net like yours?
@SagutoGolf
@SagutoGolf Жыл бұрын
If purchasing be sure to use coupon code "SAGUTOGOLF" (without the quotes and no spaces) at checkout to claim your special SagutoGolf discount on the Country Club Elite® series of mats. TS

How can a player not release the club early? It seems like I hit the ground behind the ball because the club is getting ahead of my rotation. In addition I am too stiff because I feel like I can't control the club without being tight.
