Still, in no instances removing Denuvo made the game worse by any margin, apart from one, which was only a maximum frametime spike on a single game that did not have a benchmarking tool meaning minimum / maximum frametimes couldn't be measured consistently, but average frametime could, and in that regard, the no Denuvo build won.

An OEM mobo just isn't worth it considering you get 9600k or 9700k performance from the X series 1366 Xeons with an overclock. Also you need a minimum of 16gb of ram. For some reason the ddr3 ram on current titles need more gb to keep up with ddr4, at least with game performance. 16gb 1866 or 1600mhz ddr3 ram is equivalent to 8gb of 2133mhz ddr4.

My previous PC is an X58 system running an i7-930. It's now serving as my NAS/HTPC in my living room but i can't see myself running it 24/7. With a 6 core xeon running at lower clocks and voltage, i could see myself doing it. Problem with X58 is that it's so old, your PCI Express slot is running at PCIe 2.0 speeds, so newer GPUS will are definitely not getting its full usage. It also doesn't have USB 3.0 support, so you'll need an extra PCIe internal card for that. And lastly, as RGHD said, he was using 8gb of RAM but the X58 platform uses TRIPLE CHANNEL memory, which is not normally acheivable to get 8gb of ram normally. You'd want 3x4gb of ram for a total of 12gb or 3x8gb for 24gb. To get 8gb of ram means you'd either put in 2x4gb sticks intead of 3 (which will affect performance, especially 1% and 0.1%) or 4gb+2gb+2gb, which is not ideal either.

@@jorts900 it's a fair comment and I'll try a Ryzen build soon, but I like used price/performance and electricity is of moderate cost where I am.

This OC'd is literally all anyone needs and is super cheap if you go the right route. And I've seen other channels use Intel Extreme Tuning Utility to overclock processors with unlocked multipliers on boards that didn't have it enabled like these pre-builts.

I've got a PowerEdge R510 with two of these CPUs in it. The single-threaded performance leaves something to be desired, but it's honestly not half bad in multithreaded applications even today. Certainly adequate for a NAS, though I do offload my Plex and Minecraft servers to another machine now.

They have adapters for the z400 power supply for less than $15 online. Built one for my wife years ago with a 600 watt EVGA gold running a 780ti and a x5677. It's a pretty good 1080p medium settings machine.

The E3-1225 V2, is an Ivy Bridge (1155/socket H) 4c/4t (like an i5-3570) xeon with intel hd 4000 graphics that turbos to 3.6 and around 4.1when overclocked for around $22. The 1245 V2 adds hyper threading (eight threads, i7-3770) and higher stock speeds ($40ish) and the 1275 V2 is clocked even higher (i7-3770k performance) but, they are quite expensive still ($100ish).

1:25 Correction you can replace the psu, thats the exact motherboard im using, while yes installing a new psu isn't plug and play like an off the shelf motherboard it can be done. Also if you get a w3670 (which runs about $16.00-$20.00 usd) it can be overclocked using throttle stop or Intel extreme tuning utility

Currently using a W3565 CPU, but upgrading to a X5677. May not by 6 cores, but at 3.47 GHz I think it will do pretty well.

I fu*king love Xeons! Got an e3-1240v2 in my office rig and an e3-1220v2 in my home theatre PC I built both systems with parts that cost me virtually nothing (I do this sh*t for a living) and the performance per £ is just untouchable. I’m going to eventually go the Ryzen route but it’s hard to justify the upgrade when I have two great systems that cost me less than £100 all in 🤷🏻♂️

Got exact same system working with X5650 12GB of ram, 500GB of HDD and RX 480 Nitro+ 8GB, with that stock 475 Watt psu, and resold that for 300$ :)

I ran a X5680 at 4.2 GHz in my old Rampage 3 Extreme board. That was a great setup, ran awesome. Though the X chips are far more thirsty power-wise than the E chips. I didn't have a choice though, as the X58 chipset would only run the X processors. But I also run a pair of them in an rack server I have sitting off to the side that I use for running game servers. Works great for that, and they are dirt cheap. I bought it originally with a pair of X5570s, 16GB of ram, and a 60 GB 10k SAS drive for around 100 dollars. Since then, I upgraded it with the aforementioned processors, an additional 32 GB of ram, and a full suite of 120GB SAS drives. I tried throwing a graphics card in it for s**ts and giggles, but it wasn't having any of it.

It’s kind of funny that you used a screenshot of an X58 Sabertooth for the example of a motherboard for it because I picked up a very same X58 Sabertooth for myself for my X5670 build for about £73 with shipping included about a year ago

I have a Dell XPS 730x modded with Alienware BIOS I got for $38 and an entire HP Z400 workstation with a luck buy at $40. I run an X5650 in one and an X5675 in the other. I have no problems gaming on either with an RX 580. Of all my systems these are my favs for gaming.

I was also very happy with a HuananZhi X79 Deluxe ($120) paired with an E5-4627V2 (8C/8T) that all core clocks to 3.5Ghz ($80). Uses 4 channel DDR3 R-EEC 1600 RAM just fine. This is a locked CPU, but with high clock for an IVY Bridge. It is a 1:1 core to thread ratio CPU...but damn it has some cores.

When I upgraded my old i7-930 System to give to my son, I put in more Memory 24GB, GTX 980 Ti, Xeon x5680, and a SSD HD, with 4GB 7,200rpm HDD. Also has DVD/RW and card reader. Gaming Keyboard and Mouse, Done.

I had one of these in an asus p6t se that I bought new from fry's with a i7-930 when it launched. The E5645 was a great upgrade! Recently I picked up an X5675 and plan to have some more overclocking fun. That motherboard was one of the best computer purchases i've ever made! I saw another commenter trying to track down a cheap 1366 board, if you cant find a good 2nd hand one, checkout the Chinese franken-boards on ali-express or ebay. they seem pretty interesting for building a super cheap system. adding 16GB ecc ram for $20, etc... although I dont think you get any overclocking options going that route either.

There's something to be said for old office PC's. Just bought a Vostro 3900 (i5- 4460) with 8Gb RAM and a 128Gb SSD for £50. Stick in a mid end GPU, an additional HDD and you have a half decent gaming PC The guy had 4 for sale, I probably should have bought all of them!

an x5670 can be had for £11, a six pin connector can be shoved into an 8 pin connector and usually works fine:) Also Molex to GPU power is a thing. That 470Watt PSU is its nominal rating, it'll peak to 520 easy... :) how about a silly x5690 for £55 quid 6 cores at 3.4-3.6ghz. (still cheaper than a crazy mobo) I have a crazy G1.sniper board in box if you want it for the channel.

Good video. I know he needed an adapter but I would with a rx 580 or gtx 1060 instead and a xeon 5650 cpu instead, the 5650 has a faster "bus speed". You can get them for around $10 shipped. Maybe he could do a follow-up video with a better card and cpu?

I am interested in your opinion. I found a p6t deluxe v2 MB for cheap and bought it and i think its a good 1366 MB, i piared it with 16 gb of ram and rx 480 rog strix 8gb, well cpu is an i7 first gen for now but i ordered x5670. How will performance stand versus the build you offered us? Also i think x5670 with this MB could get OC for over 4ghz.

as an owner of a gaming 1366 platform I had a chance to upgrade by buying a darn cheap X5660 clocked for 2.8GHz for 11,48$ from aliexpress. It overclocks like mad, I recommend everyone to upgrade their i7 920s as it is the cheapest way possible to eliminate most of the stuttering in CPU demanding sections (for instance, I can now have a stabile 60fps experience in Forza Horizon 4 whereas at the beginning of the race I had drops to low 50s with multiple AI cars on screen) and its power demand is even lower than the 920. I will test it and try to hit at least stable 4GHz or even more. Also, E5645 has a significant disadvantage of a really low multiplier which can seriously limit your potential, so it's much better to find at least X5650.

I've got a W3680 on my Z400 clocked at 4GHz. It's not as good as a X5675 at higher clock but you don't need a fancy cooler, you can just use what you are using. If someone gets a Z400 for his main PC, then it's worth it, but if it's just for a secondary gaming pc or server, then any 6/12 will do the job.

I have a Xeon W3680 I got for $40, it's overclocked to 4.54Ghz and it's a beast, it's paired with a GTX 1070 and 24GB triple channel 1866mhz ram. Can run Destiny 2 Max 1200p at locked 60fps, GTA mostly max settings with usually 60 dips to 50s, and Read Dead 2 Nvidia settings 60 with dips to 50s
