I’ve been using Castrol Edge but been thinking of going with Liqui Moly in the future maybe Mylogen not sure or the blue jug of Liqui Moly. Thanks!
@UwUthunder Жыл бұрын
I'm not trying to discredit your video or anything but... the effects of the engine running more smoothly and silently could easily be credited to the fresh new oil you put into it and that it was just time for an Oil change. To 100% say the additive works you would have to have 3 clips (before, new oil and new oil with the lm additive). Just my 2 cents.
@IzzyE9X Жыл бұрын
the sound clips were both after the fresh new oil change. I changed the oil, took the 'before' soundbite, then poured the LiquiMoly and only a tad bit of oil to wash the LiquiMoly down. I did not conduct an entire oil change before pouring in the LiquiMoly.
@therealeffingdeal Жыл бұрын
Probably should have mentioned this in the video or description. You also mentioned that you have been using this product for years. Pretty amazing how different your engine sounds before and after the additive after all this time. You would think/hope this stuff would accumulate and offer a bit of residual protection but it seems it all comes out every oil change. Good video otherwise. I would use this on a new(er) engine but skip it on older high mileage ones.
@kamimaza9 ай бұрын
That’s inaccurate, oil change tend to renew oil which result in a less viscous oil and often new noises are exacerbated after an oil change.

Correct.

People are so picky. Adding new oil doesn't do that much if not make it worse. Even if this isn't a new car for him, the additive isn't permanent and needs to be readded every change or whenever the noise gets bad. Come on ppl

Not surprised the after sounds better, as the car has fully warmed up. Not knocking LiquiMoly products. However, none of it’s an instant miracle in a can. The effect is cumulative and gradual through appropriate use over time.

Because N52s are known to have lifter tick. Not to mention, the injectors on these engines are very loud.

Could have just bought the car. Could be time to renew the additive? It does wear off after so long, just like everything else. Most additives have a milage range to add more. Thats why you switch between ine and another during oil changes since you shouldn't mix them

Oil, is an extremely good lubricant, wear reduction, low friction etc. Unless there are issues with your car stop putting additives to it. Use thicker oil if you want it quieter
@luissantana54049 ай бұрын
Thicker oil makes it louder. I have a 2005 Hyundai accent 5w-20 motor oil. The Walmart guys accidentally poured 5w-30 in my motor. My car was running loud and burned a lot of fuel. A thinner oil makes the car run smoother and saves gas. Why do you think liquid molly increase mpg? Because it makes the car run smoother and less friction

Adding moly disulfide is a useless waste of money at best and dangerous to your engine at worst. This is basically a solid lubricant suspended in a heavy oil...almost like you're dropping a spoonful of axle grease into your oil pan. It's most likely to collect at the bottom of the oil pan and/or your oil filter. Worst case, it clogs up your lifters and/or VANOS solenoids (or any other engine's cam phasers). I'm a metallurgical engineer at a major automobile manufacturer and a big part of my work is wear and failure analysis on gasoline engines. We work closely with lubricating oil manufacturers to specify exactly what should be included in engine oil and then the engines are designed to operate with that type of oil. If a big glob of super high viscosity oil packed with moly disulfide made engines last longer and run quieter, we'd write the specifications for the oil manufacturers to blend it in. It would help us meet our engineering targets and make our lives easier. It's not blended into the oil because it doesn't help.

Hi Elektro. I'm glad to be reading some actual science from a metallurgical engineer in this thread. In view of both your academic and professional knowledge, I will accept your advice to not install LiquiMoly MoS2. I'd be very grateful to receive your further advice: Five years ago, I bought a 2003 BMW E46 318i running an N42 engine with 105,000 miles on the clock. I bought her for only £725 = $915. During these five years, I've only driven her a total of 10,000 miles. I admit that I've not done any work on her engine, and the oil is black. I now finally have the time, the money, and the inclination to look after her, which is what's brought me to this thread. For a 2003 N42 engine, BMW recommends a 5W-30 oil which complies with the BMW LL-01 (LongLife-01) specification. However, because she's got 115,000 miles, and no oil change during AT LEAST the last 10,000 miles, should I instead be installing 5W-40? At the same time, because E46 KZbinrs rave about them, I'm intending to install a Hengst oil filter, as opposed to a BMW OEM, Mann, Mehle, or any other filter. Do you approve of Hengst? Simultaneously, I'm going to be changing the spark plugs. I've been reading that more important than the brand is that I should be installing plugs which are double platinum or, even better, triple platinum. Or, even better, iridium plugs. Do you agree that NGK iridium plugs are the best way forwards? The garage which will be doing all those jobs is recommending that because the engine has not been maintained for AT LEAST 10,000 miles, it should be flushed before the new oil, new oil filter, and and plugs. I certainly accept your advice about Mos2. Would you recommend a standard LiquiMoly flush for this 20 year-old engine with 115,000 on the clock? Many thanks. Best, Michael

Change oil and oil filter every 4000 miles or 6 months. Every one or two years change engine air filter, fuel filter and cabin filter. Every 30000 miles change the sparkplugs. Put the best gas you can afford. Do not red line the engine when it is cold. Eventually, drive the car on the highway for 2 or 3 hours. Wash it once a month...
