I absolutely love the kitchen!!! The faucet by the stove was a "pot filler" so you don't have to carry a full pot from the sink to the stove. This home was pretty, but too massive and modern for my taste. It kills me to think that it was destroyed after only being around 20 years. I wonder if the sub basement was actually a shelter in place area. Terrific explore James!

Ya someone else mentioned that about it being a pot filler, very handy to have. I agree with you, too modern and too big for me too. Thank you very much for your comment!!

Ugh, this high density housing boom is really maddening to see. It's happening more and more around where I live. I keep getting calls from people asking if I want to sell my home and I can't help but wonder if some are developers who have this same agenda in mind.
@StaticSpacesАй бұрын
I agree, I hate the high density, I just wish there was another solution to the problem. Honestly, if you are ever approached by a developer, might be worthwhile considering the offer...sometimes they will offer you double or more of the property value. I mean, as long as you don't mind moving that is! Thank you very much for your comment!!
@marcodarko6941Ай бұрын
Not to be rude but I wouldn't encourage anyone to sell out. People need to stand their ground more and more and stop being weak and caving to these parasites and their invasions they are ushering in, steamrolling people because they think they have the money/power to do it.@@StaticSpaces
@chillysnowgirl8322Ай бұрын
@@StaticSpaces I think the thing that's most jarring for someone like me is seeing how similar the homes are to each other. Little to no variety in the building style or colour, etc. Just from a mental health point of view that has to be very depressing. We should include things like community gardens, and gathering spaces to the areas to somewhat make up for it. =/ I also have other thoughts about the reasoning of where this type of housing gets built, but it's more political and i feel like that would change the mood of the topic and i don't want to be 'that person', so i'll shush. 🤐
@StaticSpacesАй бұрын
Marco, I disagree....the only reason development companies exist is because there is demand. In fact, we have a huge problem here with homeless people because we don't have enough housing. The country's population is about 39 million and we brought in 1.3 million new people through immigration last year alone. If companies don't build the housing we need, who will? I can understand why you would feel the way you do but I think it might be a little misguided PS and you aren't being rude at all, I think a discussion about this sort of thing is good!
@StaticSpacesАй бұрын
Chilly, I agree, houses all look the same these days but I think that is more to do with economies of scale than anything else. It's just cheaper to build them that way
@chillysnowgirl8322Ай бұрын
Thanks so much for another fun explore, James! 🙂 I'm so happy they're at least salvaging a lot more stuff from these places now (remember when they'd sit for 4 or more years and just rot/mold away?). I know from an explore perspective it was interesting, but a bit frustrating seeing it from an environmental one. Anyway, it was great to get together with you and the regulars and chat about the stuff in the home (the kitchen and those bathrooms were so beautiful!). Have a wonderful night!
@StaticSpacesАй бұрын
So there are two types of abandoned houses, developer owned and original owner owned. The developer ones usually tend to go quickly and don't sit abandoned for long and the family owned ones are the ones that can sometimes sit for years. But ya, if I found a house that was already gutted, it wouldn't really make for an interesting explore/video. Glad you enjoyed the live chat Harriet and thanks so much for your comment!!

Everywhere is getting crowded, it seems. Here in Korea it's pretty rare to find any single-family homes, especially in the cities. There are a few really old ones in the cities, but for the most part if you want to find a single-family home you've got to go out to the countryside. Everything is multi-family homes, smaller apartment buildings, and massive forests of high rise complexes.
@StaticSpacesАй бұрын

Some of the aspects I really loved, like the floral sink & others, well a bit tacky even tho' it was probably state of the art when designed. If I had to choose between the 2 homes, I would pick this one with the intent to remodel. I loved the 70's tile in the other home but I would get tired of it quickly. Oh, that spigot over the range is to fill large stock pots with water so that you don't have to carry it from the sink to the stove. Italian & seafood chefs love it.
@StaticSpaces20 күн бұрын
Ya, I mean I wouldn't want a sink like that in my home but I can appreciate the interesting design. I'm not sure why I didn't realise that about the pot filler tap, it seems so obvious now! 😆 I would choose the 70s house, I would really enjoy those bathrooms, although the red one was a bit much. Thanks very much for your comment!!

I blame inflation and greed and apps.

I'm not sure I understand the question completely but there is no good alternative lol Everything else is usually just a facade that doesn't last long, stone, vinyl, stucco, aluminum is pretty good, it lasts long but isn't used very often anymore.

What's the typical when you're not allowed to build apartment buildings

I think they would probably have trouble justifying building a condo here but the alternatives are stacked condos, townhomes or single family homes. In this case it's townhouses. Thanks a lot for your comment!!
