I tried WebSim over the weekend. Didn't have much luck with my first experiment, as it probably needs a lot more prompting. And I don't really want them stealing my big idea. 😅 I hit the Random button and ended up on this Chronos-AI thing, which let me bend space and time to chat with Leonardo da Vinci. First I tried messing with it, but it didn't suffer edgelords lightly. Eventually, I asked him to analyze a new Debbii Dawson song that means a lot to me, and he did. Then I said the connection was breaking up, and thanked him and said bye for now. Then the connection broke up, to the point where I had to pull the HTML code just to read his last wonderful message. Each step of the conversation was clearly another static webpage being generated, but the illusion of a chat interface was just enough that I'm only now realizing none of it existed until I hit send each time. I mean, the AI kept breaking the fourth wall to steer the conversation, so I can't tell how/where the guardrails were setup. 🤔 It was a curious, and rather beautiful experience.

My thoughts, 1) AI gives you a ton of power to do things that you would otherwise have to pay others to do. 2) it will do it in a pretty generic way, so if you just need generic stuff, or if you are creative enough to coax a generic AI into giving you something unique, then it is valuable. AI is like having a friend that can do some skill you can’t, who is willing to help you out. It isn’t like having a virtuoso in your back pocket.

would be a little tough, websim is based on HTML, while the standard for VST's is C++

It's cool how you can take your knowledge of music and plonk it into an app. Creativity advances!

Please say more than “technology advances”. Technology advances but when it steals the copy-written work of artists, writers, and musicians all to make money for CEOs and grifters, then it’s wrong. But I guess get on board or get left behind, right?

It's not wrong, actually, and is how technology has always worked. I don't care about people who were hurt by the printing press and I don't care about people who were hurt by industrialization either.

Nothing new here, just a few programs that generate random notes. I think it's quite weak. It looks great for kids.

The excitement is derived from how easily these toys were generated from a few verbal prompts and adjustments. You can try convincing WebSim to generate any kind of web page imaginable, not just music apps.

It is pretty new. I don’t know JAde’s background but if she has no programming experience, this just allowed her to try out some ideas she never would have been able to try.

I don't get comments like this, this might now be impressive but it's literally "new" which means it didn't exist before...? You could type in "3d browser game with grass" and instantly generate a game and also speak directly to a primitive assistant that kinda understands code? Really? You could do that in 2012?
