Natalie and I took a trip to Alabama to celebrate her Mother's birthday. Of course while we were there we couldn't resist getting out for some fossil hunting. We found some of my favorite types of fossils there are to find. Hope y'all enjoy!

Beautiful finds, and thank you for the extra facts/pictures/information, it's always nice to learn more! I would find short "focus videos" that focuses about facts about a specific speices from what we know about how it lived to where the fossils might be found and such... just short vids... I know it is different from what you normally make, but if you are bored or happen to be stuck at home for some reason... ;)

The Mississippian strata is loaded with all sorts of fossils , although I believe you may be very close to the Pennsylvanian strata in that spot . The shale beds are often LOADED with Archimedes fossils . I have seen logging roads just covered with them , but didn't have room in my pack for any due to all the agate I was carrying out 😁 .

Someone mentioned the weird bug looks like a trilobite beetle. It does look similar to one, but they are found in SE Asia and India. It is a beetle larva of some kind, maybe a firefly larva, but I'm not sure of the species. The 1st blastoid you found was perfect. Congratulation on the trilobite. Every time you find one, I hate you for a little bit. It looks like both you and Natalie made some cool finds. Thanks for sharing.

If you can find the division between limestone and shale, you could maybe pull out plates with complete crinoids or other animals on them. There's a guy who bought land, a creek bed in Crawfordsville In. and found a whole quarry of plates. He knew just where to look. Tom Witherspoon is his name.
