It could be a good size for fairy shrimp if you're after something fun. They're like a larger version of brine shrimp and they live in freshwater but I think they can be quite hard to come by!

insane, you could buy two rimless 3 gallons and a return pump and make your own sump for under 100 with minimal tools, you could even get some wood to make a small frame if you wanted a cohesive unit

The price for this is crazy. In the US you can get the exact thing from PNW custom for $170 or cheaper on sale. (That is also a high price, but better. I really want one!)
