@@boratbagatov9728Language and dialrect are different. Dialect is a variation of a particular language. Ang Tagalog ng Manila/Bulacan/Batangas/etc are Tagalog DIALECTS kasi kahit meron variation sa intonations at meron variations in some words ay nagkakaintindihan pa rin ang mgaTagalog speaking regions. Likewise ang Ilocano ng Ilocos/Cagayan/Pangasinan/La Union/Abra/Nueva Viscaya/Isabela are Ilocano DIALECT kasi nga kahit meron certain variations ay nagkakaintidihan pa rin sila pero ang Ilocano/Cebuano/Ibanag/ibaloi/Pangasinan/Hiligaynon are LANGUAGES kasi nga hindi sila magkakaintindihan.

It must be so interesting to grow up in another country then come back to USA. You already have such a unique and difference experienced the most American's who only speak english and only familiar with their own culture. I lived in a rural area of USA where people in their 60's+ never even left the county of their state yet other states or other countries and I feel like this ends up with very closed minded people who often hate foreigners or people that are different then they are used to. If only more people got to experience travel and other cultures at a young age, i think we would have so much less hate in this world then we do now. People would realize all people on this planet are all humans all trying to live their lives as best then can and there is no reason to go at war killing people... which sadly there is still a lot of wars going on even today and even potential civil war lingering in USA. so much closed minded hateful people who don't like other people who don't share in the same beliefs.

Traveling won't mean you will end up speaking more than English. I am second generation military. I was born in England, my son was born in Germany. I lived in the Philippines when I was a kid. After retiring from the Army, I started working overseas, and have lived and/or worked in 4 different countries in the last 16 years. In 3 of those 4 countries, I only know the important essential phrases (hello, thank you, you're welcome, I have no money, etc.). If you are an adult, who only work and/or live with other Americans and/or people who speak English, it is less likely that you will learn the local language, simply because it is not necessary. More likely to learn if you are a kid, who are around a lot of locals who don't speak English fluently. (Kids pick up languages quicker and easier) I now have a permanent residence in the Philippines, and have actually attempted to learn Tagalog. I took a 40-hour course, over a 10-week period. I gave up after the first course, and didn't even bother with the 2nd and 3rd forty hour blocks. It is NOT an easy language. I think I picked up more Spanish when living in a border city, than I did Tagalog while living in the Philippines. I will probably give it a try one day, but it isn't a pressing concern.

In Ilocos Sur, more na sasabihin nila na "saan dak nga mailako". In Illocos Sur, yong ilocano word na "saan" is more na ginagamit for the Tagalog word na "hindi". Very good point when you said "you have to be willing to learn" any language. Georgia, you're more Ilocano than you know. The way you rave about pakbet said it all. I was born in Paniqui, Tarlac but immigrated to US @9 yrs old. What's funny is I learned Tagalog b4 English in ESL class only coz that was the commonly spoken dialect. I've been told that I don't have any accent when I speak either Tagalog, Ilocano or English coz I apply them almost every day. I agree w/Georgia that Jared must experience the Philippines but not limited to its beautiful scenery but also the local culture. Georgia, the Philippine Tourism Dept could use you for their commercials. Naragsak ka nga tao😂❤
